[OOC: Ah, thanks. I'll add the injury back. Ruining my brief moment of glory in the melee! I went back and edited my Jorah post to reflect the injury and nudged my rolls down - no difference to the results.

Re: Melee group 4
OOC: I see that. However, I chose to aim, rolled that first, then added it to my reckless attack. I modify my actions to account for misinformation or mistakes, but unless I realize I'm doing something monumentally stupid or need someone to tell me that I am, I like to keep it raw, or 'do it live' as they say. I aimed at the cost of a fatigue point, so I suffer that regardless of whether it contributed to DoS. Think of it as to-hit insurance.Baelon wrote:[Ahem, my inner rules-stickler is forcing me to point out that Reckless Attack is a Greater Action, so this would have required a fatigue... Round 5: the PCs finally clash!
Loreia exhales heavily from the ordeal of her actions. She nods to Henry before turning her back on him, looking for Dunstan. Jorah seems like he can handle Petyr and Kyle on his own, or so she hopes.
She sees Dunstan all by his lonesome. She charges Dunstan.
Greater Action: : 3d6 6
It's a miss, Charlie Brown...
CD: 11
AR: 7
Health: 15
F/I/W: 1,0,0
OOC: I rolled my Fighting test to charge(and I rolled poorly);
however, commitment to this action depends on me being able to reach Dunstan. You can charge any opponent up to twice your Movement in distance, but no further I assume. My movement is 4 yards. I have 1 Bulk. The rules say to reduce Movement by 1/2 per Bulk. The example seems to favor rounding up. What I take away from that is I keep a Movement of 4, but for twice my movement, I'm limited to 7 yards? I am now right next to Dunstan at H10 if that's true.
*By the way, where's Jorah's action for Round 4?*

[OOC: 1 bulk = no movement penalty, 2 bulk = 1 yard penalty, 3 bulk = 1 yard penalty, 4 bulk = 2 yard penalty etc.
Takes two full points to impose a penalty - odd numbers are advantageous here!
Your charge should carry to Lord Tullison.
I'm out most of tomorrow, but Baelon might be able to progress the NPCs or I can try to post Sunday AM]

Re: Melee group 4
[OOC: Loreia, the examples on page 155 only cover a Move action and a Sprint action;
for Sprint actions bulk gets applied slightly differently so that might be what you were seeing. Charging however is just 2x your move. However, a breastplate is normally 3 bulk, so with Armor Mastery it is still 2 bulk, so unless you have at least 2B in Run or the Fast benefit, your movement would only be 3 yards (thus 6 on a charge, 10 on a sprint). That's still plenty to charge Dunstan, though. What Reader said about odd values is correct though, so you can take on another point of bulk without additional movement penalties, or if you swap to lower bulk armor (such as mail or scale) you would not be taking any movement penalties.
I should have enough info from other posts to put together rounds 4 and 5 for Ser Jorah, and I will definitely do up NC actions for round 5. Might not be up for a few hours though.]

OOC: Ah right. I was looking at the agility penalty. With breastplate though, taking Armor Mastery into account, my Initiative penalty is -1. I'm satisfied with this.

Re: Melee group 4
Apologies for the delay. I found some errors (primarily that Lord Petyr Mallister and Ser Kyle Crakehall had not had round 3 actions), then was most of the way through this when my browser crashed and I had to start over. I lost a chunk of another thread I was working on, too
Round 3 Summary
Status after Round 3:
Loreia: 15/15 health
Jorah: 3/9 health, 2 fatigue used, 1 injury (from M7)
Henry: 3/9 health, 3 fatigue used, +3 CD (cautious attack)
Adrian: 3/12 health, 3 fatigue used, 2 injuries, -2 CD (shield destroyed), -1 AR (shattering)
Petyr: 2/9 health, 3 fatigue
Kyle: 2/9 heath, 2 fatigue used, 1 injury, -5 CD (reckless attack)
Dunstan: 5/9 heath, 2 fatigue used
Map after Round 3:
Round 3 Summary
- Loreia Merrgal
- Aim
[/*1ddbgr2l] - Cautious Attack vs H, 15 v 8 CD, 2 DoS, 10 - 7AR = 3 Damage

- Knockdown P, 9 vs TN 12, failed
[/*1ddbgr2l] - Attack P, 20 vs 7 CD(f), 3 DoS, 15 - 10AR = 5 Damage
Notes: Retcon ended up with the having the right penalties. Convenient. Lord Petyr takes a fatigue to ignore AP, lowering the blow from 4 DoS to 3.[/*1ddbgr2l] [/*1ddbgr2l] - Ser Henry Hardyng

- Attack D, 3 DoS, 12-10AR = 2 Damage

Notes: Dunstan took 2 damage in round 1 and 2 more here, for a total of damage (thus 5/9 listed below)[/*1ddbgr2l] [/*1ddbgr2l] - Lord Petyr Mallister
- Attack K, 19 vs 11 CD, 2 DoS, 10 - 7AR = 3 Damage (K takes Injury, reduces to 0 Damage)
[/*1ddbgr2l] - Knockdown on J, 12 vs TN 12, success
Notes: This was labeled as Lord Petyr's Round 4 action, but his round 3 had been skipped, so applied this to Round 3.[/*1ddbgr2l] [/*1ddbgr2l] - Ser Kyle Crakehall
- Takes fatigue for extra lesser action

[/*1ddbgr2l] - Reckless attack against P, 21 vs 12(f) CD, 2 DoS, 8 - 10AR = 0 Damage.
Notes: This was labeled as Ser Kyle's Round 4 action, but his round 3 had been skipped, so applied this to Round 3. Ser Kyle had to take an injury against Lord Petyr's attack, so these should have been at -3. That allows Lord Petyr to take a fatigue instead of an injury.[/*1ddbgr2l] [/*1ddbgr2l] - Lord Dunstan Tullison

Re: Melee group 4
Round 4 - Ser Jorah The below post by reader was mixing round 3 and 4... not hard to do seeing more than half the combatants had moved on already, Ser Jorah's player posted a round 3 action a while back (before I got involved) but we did not have round 3 actions for Lord Petyr and Ser Kyle. It should be all corrected now, but let me know if I missed anything.
Round 4 - Lord Petyr Mallister
Ser Jorah's attack is harmlessly deflected off of Lord Mallister's fullplate, but the Lord of Seagard is an old and wily warrior and knows better than rely solely on passive defenses when facing two enemies at once. He makes as if to bring a plate-bound boot down on the Coldbrook knight's head, but Ser Jorah rolls away out of reach - precisely what Lord Petyr intended. One immediate threat removed, he turns his attention to the other. He takes advantage of Ser Kyle's recklessness, swinging his axe solidly against the younger knight's exposed leg while maintaining a well-guarded posture.
Lesser Action: : 8d6k6-3 23 vs TN 21, 1 DoS, Ser Jorah is moved to F3 and takes -1D on all tests next round.
Lesser Action: : 7d6k4-3 15 vs 3 CD, 3 DoS, 15 - 7AR = 8 damage
CD 11 (8+3)
HP 2/9
AR 10
I/W/F 0/0/3
[OOC: Ser Jorah's attack should have been at -3 (2 fatigue, 1 injury), so 16 vs 12 (AP still ignored from Ser Kyle's attack in Round 3, the reckless attack penalty was in round 3, not 4), so 1 DoS = 5 - 10AR = 0 Damage]
Round 4 - Ser Kyle Crakehall
Ser Kyle can take no more. Another blow like the last could end him permanently. "
I yield. Well fought, my lord."
He limps off of the tourney field, Maesters coming forth to assist him.
Greater Action: Yield
[OOC: Ser Kyle took his last fatigue to ignore his AP, lowering the hit to 2 DoS, which was still 3 damage after AR, so he took an injury to reduce the damage to 0.]
Round 5 - Ser Jorah
Greater Action: Stand
CD 12
Health 3/9
AR 9
I/W/F 1/0/2
Round 5 - Lord Petyr Mallister
"
Above the rest!"
Lord Petyr shouts his family's words as a battle cry as he charges at Ser Jorah, attempting to end the fight quickly. Against a lesser knight, he would have succeeded, but Ser Jorah is well trained in defense and Lord Petyr's axe does not penetrate the Dornish knight's armor.
Greater Action: : 7d6k4-3 18 vs 16(f) CD, 1 DoS, 7 - 9AR = 0 Damage (Charged to E4)
CD 8
HP 2/9
AR 10
I/W/F 0/0/3
[OOC: Ser Jorah takes his last fatigue to ignore his AP, reducing the attack to 1 DoS.]
This should bring us fully up to date and all on the same page. It is Dunstan's Round 5 turn. I will post a Round 4 summary tomorrow - it's almost 3:30am here and I really need some sleep. In the meantime, here is an up-to-date map (taking into account all of round 4 and 5 except for Dunstan's turn, of course.)

*Oh right, the Fatigue, thank you.*
Loreia parries, the din of the mace muffling against the solid oak shield. Enervated, she registers nonplus at the young lord's skill at arms. However, in contrast to her previous opponent, it comes as a welcome surprise.

Finally,"
she grunts.

[Quick reminder that Dunstan's attacks are shattering 1 I think, and therefore degrade Loreia's armour/shield by 1 if he scored 2 DoS or more]

Re: Melee group 4
[OOC: Yup, included that in my summary... shattering affects defensive weapons (like shields) before armor, so Loreia's CD should be down to 9.]Reader wrote:[Quick reminder that Dunstan's attacks are shattering 1 I think, and therefore degrade Loreia's armour/shield by 1 if he scored 2 DoS or more]

Re: Melee group 4
Oh thanks, I was worried that taking it to mean that I could apply that to my shield instead of my base defense so I could drop it later would be presuming too much.

Re: Melee group 4
[OOC: If you are taking the hit, 3 damage gets past your AR. Just to note, the hit was exactly 2 DoS, so you do have the option of taking a fatigue to ignore your whopping 1 AP... it would reduce the DoS to 1, negating both the damage and the shattering. Up to you. I'll post actions for Ser Jorah and Lord Petyr soon.]

You know what, I think I should. I'm gonna need my defense after taking a pass. I'll note the changes in my post.

Re: Melee group 4
Ser Jorah and Lord Petyr trade blows, but the fatigue of heavy battle has dulled the force of their strikes, and neither is able to inflict any harm on the other.

Round 7
She bears Dunstan's attack, bracing with her shield and dropping it to swing her sword aggressively in both hands. The power behind her assault manages to bring Dunstan to the ground, albeit with several swings.
Greater: : 6d6k4-2 15 (2B from Pass)
7 dmg per DoS, Shield dropped - Changed because of shield antics, no two-weapon action
: 4d6-2 12
Success, just barely managed to knock him down.
CD: 9, (shield at 1)

Re: Melee group 4
[Loreia, I think you're missing a bonus dice from your attack? You've got Longlades 1B plus 2B from the previous round's "
pass"
= 7d6k4-2? If I'm right, just roll an extra 1B and sub it in manually if necessary.]

Round 7
Ser Jorah
Lord Petyr Mallister was a fine warrior, but Ser Jorah's superior defences had worn him down. Now Jorah moved to end things decisively, a crushing overhand swipe that lands with a sickening *crunch* on his opponent's helm.

Lord Mallister takes two injuries to reduce the damage to 0.

Lord Mallister sways from Ser Jorah's assault, but steadies himself and throws down his trusty battleaxe.

Your sword carries the day Ser, I have no wish to end up like Ser Lionel!"
