Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Athelstan laughs speaking low enough that Ser Ben and Bae can't make out what he is saying without some effort "
I dare say I'm better at taunting then he thought"
shifting his focus to the contestants of the archery well some fun doesn't hurt anyone, let's see who are weak willed and who are real archers for now, serves that I take measure of how skilled most of them are.

The third round is heralded, and the volleys of arrows surge forth again. As Nathaniel Mason shrugs off his result, and joins his friends to watch the final round and compare shots, the White Hart Hunter looks crestfallen at their strong, but not strong enough for that distance shooting, and offers respectful nods to the other participants before leaving the field quietly, not even looking at the stands.

Baelon wrote:Baelon quiets his voice, not whispering, but low enough that none but Ser Benedict can hear it.
"
I think I would have done the world a favor if there had been an 'accident' during the trial by combat... that man is a rabid dog, and he will bite someone sooner or later."
He raises his voice again to a normal conversational level.
"
To answer your earlier question, no, I do not need any more assurances. I do have one final question for you, though.
If you are participating in the melee would you fight by my side, on my team?"
Ben sighs at the scene that has unfolded in front of him and Baelons whispers. Then at Baelons offer he smirks. "
I would be honored. To be honest I would rather stand by your side then in your way. It seems if the gods are good we may be spending more time together anyway."
He gives him a sincere smile.
As the third round ends and the White Hart Hunter has lost out, Ben looks from the Hunter to Baelon. "
If you will excuse me,... Baelon. I believe I would like to hunt down that hunter."

He says with a smile.

The White Hart Hunter, not sure whether to be proud of making it to Round 3 of the contest, or ashamed to have failed, exits the tourney field, and hurries, not speaking to anyone, towards a shady, secluded spot among some trees and bushes, hoping to hide for long enough to be forgotten, so they can slip away to change clothes.
Gods help me, I really did not plan this well.

Athelstan sees her flee the grounds and then Ser Benedict For him? A Tullison... Aye, we will help the Marsten's campaign, and I will help myself on the way back...
As he passes by "
Ser Benedict, give her my regards"
with poison dripping from every word, like snake tasting the air to find it's prey, hatred palpable and malice when he says hi name.

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Ben gives him a confused look as he passes by. Then realizing he must have spotted Corrine as well he looks back with a concerned glance. How ... what if Dunstan's worries are right and he means to harm us... her. What did we do to him? He uses all his will to continue on and not confront him here. He may lose sight of her if he were to stop. He pushes the negative encounter to the way side. He has more important things for now.
Ben arrives in the shaded hiding spot,of the White Hart Hunter, doing little to conceal his approach. His crooked grin beaming.

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Corrine has just sat down behind the bushes, taken down the hood and pulled the scarf down around her neck, taking long, deep breaths with closed eyes. She turns her head sharply and quickly when she hears the rustle of boots in the the grass near her, then her startled look turns to a shy, awkward grin.
"
Alright, Ben. You've caught me,"
she says with a playful shrug. "
I'm sorry if you thought I'd abandoned you,"
she adds, more seriously. "
I just didn't want you to know right away... in case I made a fool of myself."

He crosses to her and kneels by her side. "
Well Huntress, I was a bit worried I had been passed over. But now I know all I need worry about is being on the other end of that bow."
He smiles playfully. "
That was amazing. The pages would still be looking for my lost arrows."
He places his hand lightly on her shoulder, giving her an affectionate smile. "
Thank you for sharing that with me. I know how difficult that must have been."

His smile is met with equal affection, and she places her hand over his.
"
It was scary, yes. And I won't lie, I wish I had done better. But sharing with you is easy. You see me in a way no-one else does, and you look upon me with kindness, not judgement."
She lets out a tiny, bashful laugh.
"
I wanted to give you a fun surprise, to show you how much I appreciate the fact that you accept this part of me."

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Ben leans in placing a soft kiss on the hand holding his. "
You were brilliant. Round three! I myself have only made it to round three of the joust and I have trained with lance for years."
He pauses near her ear. "
It is these parts of you that make you the whole that makes me feel the way I do for you. The powerful young woman, the daring huntress."
He pulls back rather quickly. There is something I should be remembering ... Corrine's safety the Kinslayer.

"
I fear I may not be so daring with mother later,"
Corrine confessed. "
Are you as afraid as I am?"

His smile sags slightly. "
Yes I am, but without fear there would be no courage."
The smile brightens. And you have shown your courage. Today we will sure up each others courage."
Bens smile of assurance passes to concern. "
I have had an incident that gives me reason to be concerned for your safety. I would ask that you please do not go about without an escort hence forth."

Her expression grows concerned at those words.
"
What has happened? Are you alright?"

Her concern for him brings back his smile. "
I am fine, but the kinslayer seems to have a grudge with house Tullison."
Ben stands extending his hands to help Corrine rise if she wishes. "
and I believe he may have know I was watching you and coming to meet you just now. He made a comment, his words laced with venom. Dunstan feels he may try do us or the ones we love"
He looks affectionately into her eyes, then quickly to their hands. "
harm."
(Ooc: yes Baelon, sounds good)

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
She takes his offered hands, and takes the opportunity to transition to a gentle embrace as he hoists her to her feet. She wraps her arms around his waist and meets his affectionate gaze.
"
Why would he have a grudge against House Tullison? Neither you nor Dunstan have wronged him."
Does he need a logical reason, Corrine? He's irrational and aggressive. He could be angry about anything and everything.

He returns her embrace his palms finding her lower back. This time he holds her gaze, more confident from her contact. "
None have wronged him that I know of. He was spouting off at the mouth at the Drunken Huntsmen last night as I entered. Today he says to give you his regards with certain malice."
He squeezes her gently.

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
She sighed heavily.
"
You might as well know then, since it seems this threat from him is at least partly my fault. He has a vendetta against me because I rejected him. That may be why he has taken it upon himself to single you out. I think he saw me cheering for you at the joust yesterday, and suspects it is you I spurned him for."
She looks at him apologetically.

His grip does not falter but he becomes stiff. "
But why Dunstan. His yapping at the Huntsman was mainly about Dunstan."
His eyes do waver though. "

"
I had heard about what he said, and it seems to me that he is just an angry, spiteful man who wants to cause trouble. I will speak with his brother, Lord Yoren. Perhaps he can convince the kinslayer to stay away from you and Dunstan. I do not want either of you hurt, especially not by that brute."
She turned her head to the side and leaned against his chest, her hair soft against his chin.

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Corrine's actions, her head to his chest, her soft hair upon his chin, give clemency to his worry and concern. Made audible by a deep sigh of relief. He leans his head down to settle his lips upon her crown. He pulls his lips marginally away to speak. "
You needn't worry about Dunstan or myself. Dunstan is capable and Yve will not let him about with out numerous guards. But you ... will you please for my sake keep guards about?"
His embrace tightens a bit.
A small chuckle rumbles through his chest. It was these same guards I was looking for when we met in the Library.
