Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Ben places his hand across her chest to halt any unpredicted actions and looks into her eyes reassuringly. "
My lady, your anger is not without warrant, but showing it to him is letting him win."
He looks to Athlestan his own anger evident in his eyes. "
For someone who claims to dislike our ways. You battle well with words. You cut and prod to create and opening. You have answered what questions I have. Your hate for Lord Dunstan is clear. No one here is on trial ... any more. Hence there is no need for questioning. Except perhaps do we need fear further provocation from you?"

Corrine turns to Ben, forcing on a mask of calm, though her hands grip her folded arms tightly.
"
Perhaps I ought to go, Ben. I'm clearly not helping."

"
No Ser Benedict, and fighting with words is something ironborn do, we are just more colorful when we do it and merely finding more amiable and crafty ways to say it, it's almost normal to find ironborn have an entire challenge to insult each other until one break in anger and loses, so we area rather adept in the cut and prod to create and opening fighting style, you should know if you would have been at sea instead of a knight, but like I said already you have nothing to fear of me, just fear who seeks to damage her reputation, which is someone for you to encounter yet"
he is a well trained pet this Ser Benedict no wonder he chose him, I pity you Ser, a mermaid is what you are marrying, she is luring and promises many things, but in the end she will kill you nonetheless... Athelsta "
Well have a good morning and know I bear no ill will to either of you and you need to fear me not"
for now... waving them good bye and starting to leave the way he came. stoping for a second "
I would have thought you would worry for your lord and know why it is my quarrel with him, guess you are more of a Marsten now"
turning away and continuing to leave them to themselves truly, I feel sorry for him, a stupid lord to keep up with and now that hag...

(ooc: unlike others who may not understand. I believe I/Ben understand your reasons for disliking Dunstan: hypocrisy, the callous way he went about gathering info, his proclaiming Benjen guilty before trial. Is there is more I am missing, that would require farther discussion ?)

[ooc]Yes, the fact that he was the first to try to fight him and that greenlanders were considered over ironborn that had the right to fight him while considering himself holier than thou lol, pisses him off to no end, while he knows if it was ROddric that would have killed him no one would have even cared that much.[/ooc]

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Ben steps forward some to be heard. "
If you believe that by speaking with me the situation may be clarified , rectified, or ended somehow I will speak with you. Not at my pavilions but yours."
He moves to take Corrine's hand giving it's reassuring squeeze.
"
Your brother is to speak tonight. I will talk with you after. Privately if you wish."

"
That is fine, I doubt my brother can be dissuaded from his speech, but it is his undoing, as only those that worship the Drowned God above all others may take the seat of Landhold or any other ironborn House, pitty... I will see you then Ser Benedict"
Athelstan continues to walk away.

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
Corrine watched Athelstan go for a few moments, then looked back at Ben.
"
I'm sorry. I should not have reacted that way. He made me angry. I should not have allowed him to anger me."

He smiles to show her it is no worry. "
Your fire and passion is one of my favorite traits. Tempered with wisdom, you will become an unstoppable force."

She returns the smile.
"
Thank you. I shall certainly endeavour to do so. I suppose, at least, going to Lord Yoren's gathering will mean you won't be isolated when you speak with Athelstan. You are a considerate and even-tempered man, I'm sure you will be able to calm him. My presence made things worse."

Re: [D5, LM] Watching Arrows Fly (Closed-ish)
He looks over Corrine admiringly. "
I can understand any fury he may have at no being able to have you, but he needs to check where he directs it. I hope for Dunstan and Yoren's sake a finality can be found with Athlestan."
He sighs.

Yes. I hope so too. When there is rancor between Houses, the suffering spreads further than the individuals at odds."

She blushes a little, but smiles gratefully.
"
Thank you. If only mother would see such things in me. I'm worried about meeting with her later. She still sees me as a wilful child, and I suppose, in some ways, she is right,"
Corrine confessed sadly.
