Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:[ooc: I assume when you wrote 'Lord Edmund Tully', you meant Lord Gorman Tully. If Lord Tully is Status 8, I'll have to change my choice again. If I decide to alter my DP spend to grt the chance to be able to speak with the Princess personally, as was my first choice, would a successful roll translate into being approached/approaching directly/having to speak to guards first? And what would the princess discuss? I ask for the purposes of constructing rp.]

[OOC: updated, thanks. Lord Gorman is "
only"
status 7.

Topic - your choice, rare chance for direct approach in less formal setting]

Ben

Ben approaches Lord Kreiger's table to introduce himself, but finds him engaged in conversation with Lord Haig Bracken. He patiently waits a moment, but Kreiger does not so much as acknowledge his presence.

Lady Gillian shrugs her shoulders at her fathers ignorance. Ben gives her a shrug and smile. Then kneels next to her chair.

"
I am Ser Benedict Blackthorne and you must be Lady Gillian. I have a sister close to your age. Ellie is her name. I could introduce you two. If you do not mind someone who likes games and talks a bunch, you two may get along. She will be moving to Hartshorn. If you would like, with your fathers permission you could come visit."

Having piqued the young girls interests the two carry on a pleasant conversation about their favorite tales, the valiant knights of the tourney, and overbearing parents. Both growing to like the other.

Through out his conversation been struggles to hear what has kept Lord Kreiger so occupied.

B "
...your fierce loyalty has been tested many times against the clans...
K "
...my loyalty has been repaid to the Marstens in the blood of my own...
B "
... a poor reward for such fealty...
K "
... loyalty must be rewarded with loyalty and all I receive are promises and condolences
B "
... you deserve more...
K "
... a chance to rebuild, protection is all I seek for what is left of my family...
B "
... perhaps the new leadership will give you that...
K "
... my fate lies in the hands of a little girl, amiable and diplomatic she may be, but with little experience and far from a Lord*
B "
... good qualities to start with though
K "
... yes she will make a fine lady, she is personable and kind, but lacks a mans steel and calculations, no fault of her own... *
B "
... a shame. so many others would love to have such a loyal and fierce bannerman and reward it well...
K "
... soon others may have but to ask...

* Kreiger's words of praise for Lady Corrine sound sincere

At the Grand Ball, Gwyn pulled out all the stops. Her best dress, with her best jewelry. Silk and velvet in blue and white and gold. The glitter of gems and silver on her wrists. And the finery may have given her confidence, for she was in rare form. Swirling through the lords and ladies, greeting and chatting...never sticking too long with anyone, but never seeming too quick to flit away. She climbed the social rungs in the ballroom adroitly, gathering tidbits of news from the lower-downs and using it with the next tier up to segue into conversations about them, inserting herself into the social pulse of the upper crust.

At the apex of her climb was the Princess herself, declared heir of the Iron Throne. As thrilling as the idea of talking to her was, Gwyn had a particular notion in mind. Her betrothed, Baelon was a bit of a grain of sand in the Princesses sole. She doubted she could mend that any time soon, but perhaps earning her goodwill would be the next best thing?

It took at least a few hours of working her way around, but finally Gwyn was standing at the end of the ballroom, surrounded by the scions of the Houses Paramount. She found a quiet moment to appear at the elbow of the Princess and curtsy gracefully.

"
Your Grace,"
she said with utmost respect, "
This tourney in your honor will surely be recorded as one of the greatest ever. So many moments to remember! But none more than the spreading fire of acceptance for your rise to the throne."
Gwyn broke into a chuckle, her eyes sparkling. "
Who would have guessed that even stodgy old House Marsten would see the light, hm?"

[D7, ME] The Grand Ball - Page 2 Raff.png

Raff had tagged along as some lowly retainer nobody paid a second glance towards, mingling on the outskirts of the main event, together with others that had found their way in, but understood well enough that their presence would only be tolerated if they stayed out of notice from their betters. Which suited Raff just fine, there was a very interesting man there to be acquainted with as well.

Gwyneth Marsten earns +1 glory and increases the Black score by 1 point.

Everyone, please note the appropriate change on your private forum.

Septon Arlyn - Ser Rickard Thorne of the Kingsguard improves his disposition towards you by one step
Corrine Marsten - Ser Erryk Cargyll of the Kingsguard and Princess Rhaenyra improve their dispositions towards you by one step (DP spent).
Baelon Waters - Ser Erryk Cargyll of the Kingsguard improves his disposition towards you by one step
Theomore Tullison - Ser Niall Lucas improves his disposition towards you by one step. The heir to House Lucas seems a stout fellow and bold knight, a man who is willing to embrace both violence and having a good time.
Dunstan Tullison - Mushroom himself improves his disposition towards you by one step. Hopefully this will be important later - he sees and hears all sorts of things...
Daveth Coldbrook - Lord Thomas Coldbrook's disposition towards you improves by one step.
Kevan Lyras - Ser Tyron Blackwood's disposition towards you improves by one step.
Ser Jorah Holt - Ser Lorent Marbrand of the Kingsguard's disposition towards you improves by one step [Chose for Ser Jorah based on his goals and roleplay so far]
Benedict Blackthorne - Lady Gillian Kriegar's disposition towards you improves by one step
Gwyneth Marsten - Princess Rhaenyra herself increases her disposition towards you by one step, bravo!
Yoren Longshore - Hugh Hammer, a guardsman in service to the royal household and former apprentice blacksmith, improves his disposition towards you by one step. As you talk, you believe you receive a vision from R'hllor, in the candles framing his head - they form a crown in the Targaryen style, but the crown in made of glass and shatters when gold chains strains to break it, the chains themselves sundering in the process. Maybe it's just the alcohol...
Raff - Erryk Flowers, a fellow local ruffian, improves his disposition towards you by one step

[OOC: normally don't allow double dipping by PCs and cohorts, but in this case Lady Isobel's disposition towards Ellie Blackthorne improves to amiable]
