[D9, EA] Making Friends Empty [D9, EA] Making Friends

Post by Benedict Marsten Fri Jul 24, 2015 4:02 pm

Ellie had discussed the Lady Gillian Krieger with Ben. She knew both purposes for their
introduction, a friend when Ben and Corrine were busy and a prospect as ward to secure the old crotchety Krieger's loyalty. Ben had not admitted to either reason, but she was no dummy.

Feeling it would be more natural and sincere if she met the girl without ceremony and pomp, she used her friends in the kitchen to locate the young girl.

Ellie nearly collided with Lady Gillian who was headed out as Ellie entered the Sept. With a surprised smile and curtsy she speaks. "
Excuse, my lady. I am very sorry."
Giggling at the near miss. "
Might you be the Lady Gillian Krieger?"

Gillian Kriegar is tall for a young woman and a year or two older than Ellie. Ringlets of dark brown hair frame her face.

"
I am she,"
responds Gillian with a return curtsey and a polite smile. "
May I have the pleasure of knowing who seeks me?"

"
I am Ellien Blackthorne. My brother is Ser Benedict. I believe you met him the other night."

Ellie smiles charmingly, her eyes wandering to the girls dark brown hair. "
Your hair is lovely, my lady."

[OOC: She seems sad and her cloths are a little dirty from kneeling in the Sept, perhaps praying for her dearly departed brother's soul]

"
I did indeed meet him - he seems a fine sort. Let the gossips mutter about a man of his rank marrying Lady Corrine. From our brief acquaintance, his deeds in the melee and alongside Lord Tullison, it is clear to me our Lady has chosen well."

She looks at Ellie with a serious expression.

"
Treasure your brother Ellien - our knights look dashing, but they walk a dangerous path."

She glances back towards the Sept, remembering her brave brother's death at the hands of the mountain clans.

"
I do treasure him. Everyday. My lady I am sorry to have interrupted you in a private moment."
She now feels bad for having planned their encounter here, realizing the lady must still be mourning her brother.

"
I had thought it best to meet you less formally so we may actually get to know each other, before my brother tries to introduce us in some awkward situation."
She shrugs with a shy look.

"
Perhaps this is a bad time, unless talking would help with your ... troubles. Most think I talk way to much, but I am also a good listener."
She gives Gillian a warm smile.

"
Perhaps a small luncheon would be a more appropriate setting to get to know each other?"
Ellie tries to appease the obviously upset girl.

A smile and a nod from Gillian. She shares her father's dour face when at rest, but lights up when she smiles. Ellie has the impression that this is all too rare a sight recently.

"
You are kind to offer, but I fear I have brought nothing with me except candles to light for my brother,"
she sounds eager to pursue the idea, but under equipped for lunch.

Ellie looks around mischievously. "
Well, we could go back to my brothers pavilion and eat lunch."
She laughs. "
I am sure he is off somewhere with Lady Corrine popping grapes into each others mouths. Or if you are brave enough we can go to the market."
Ellie's eyes light up. "
My treat."

She shrugs and smiles playfully. "
Worst case we can eat wafers and drink wine. I am sure the sept has plenty."

Gillian shakes her head from side to side at the joke about the sept. The Kriegar's were scarcely less devout than House Marsten.

"
Oh no, we couldn't possibly. Not in the holiness of the Sept."

However, Ellie's generally infectious manager has swayed the pious, bereaved young woman and she soon brightens up.

"
Let us retire to Ser Benedict's pavilion - I would love to try the market, but fear my father's wrath if I wander from the castle."

Gillian looks tempted, but lacks Ellie's courage and effervescent spirit, perhaps unsurprising from someone fathered by the stern Lord Kriegar.

[OOC: moves to amiable to Ellie, or Persuasion TN 15 to get her to go to the market. She's quite goody two shoes. Either way, please narrate the results and /scene!]

Ellie's empathy gets the better of her and she desperately wants to drag the poor girl to the market for some excitement and adventure.

"
Listen. We should do the market. We would have one of House Tullison's finest men as escort. guardsman Rykk."
She points to the shaggy haired guard leaning on a wall a few paces away. He stands and bows a cheerful smile on his face.

Gillian begins to protest, but Ellie sees this and continues. "
And if any thing goes wrong you can blame it on me. Getting in and out of trouble is something I am used to dealing with."
She gives her a wink. In the background Rykk nods his head vigorously.

The Krieger girls resolve begins to falter. She seems to be ponder the idea.

She smiles at her warmly. "
I would never let a friend get in trouble."

Another of what Ellie believes to be rare smiles creeps onto the girls face. "
Ok, but we should not be long."

Stick with me Gillian and smiling will be your favorite thing.

The two enjoy a delightful and bit adventurous lunch trip to the market. Ellie does her very best to make sure Gillian is laughing or at the least smiling for most of the trip.
