The Widow’s Wash flows here, one of the many streams that gives the Riverlands its name and fertility. The streams has often been an aid in navigation, making it popular with travellers and merchants, making it an ideal target for bandits and raiders seeking to enrich themselves or provision armies.
While Pennytree itself has been mercifully safe behind its high stone wall, the throne is troubled by talk that Dornish merchants travelling in the hills outside the village were not so lucky.

Investigation (Dornish merchants): Warfare (tactics/strategy), persuasion/deception (any), survival (forage/track)

[Post D2, early morning. From D2 onwards there's a significant penalty to further investigations here.]
Pity the village.

Word reaches the investigators that raiders have once more ripped through Pennytree, scene of the brutal slaughter of a Dornish merchant party. The same raiders striking at a soft target or a different force?

Dead villagers tell few tales, except to the most skilled generals and trackers.

The inhabitants of Pennyree, already traumatised by war, grow yet more suspicious of outsiders, unwilling to talk to all but the most persuasive.
