[D3 MA] Restoring order

It was mid-afternoon and Kevan was sweating in his armor. He was riding besides Lord Benedict at the top of a column of riders who formed her Ladies' Lance. Next to them, the Golden Arrows clad in dark grey tunics with a golden sun on their chest, was marshing. Wiping away the sweat droping down from his brow, the Marsten Keeper of the Gate turned to his Lord:

It is good that we finally do something to secure these troubled lands again, because of the feud it seems both the Bracken as well as the Blackwood soldiers were to focused on other things and neglected their duties to the lands."


Once again, he wipes his brow. Maybe its time to get rid of that beard once and for all...

From their investigations, they had heard about a sizeable band of bandits seizing the opportunity the unstable political situation presented them, by looting various small estates in the nearby lands. The Marsten household had decided to stop such actions.

It is a shame that it has gone this far. Helping these people is the least we can do. I feel we may only be stitching up an already infected wound with this investigation."

Ben turns Strax slightly to try and find a breeze. His eyes blink rapidly to keep the sweat from his brows from running into them.

It took them a good hour, various discussions with suspicious smallfolks and the keen eyes of their scouts to find Roryk's gang. They had built a small camp on the edge of the forrest, which served as their base for their various attacks. As the Marsten men arrived at the clearing between the dry creek and the edge of the forrest, Kevan brought the Marsten men to a halt and told them to get ready. The bandits likewise got up.

With his booming voice, the keeper of the gate addressed the bandits:
"
Roryk, you and your men are under arrest. Put down your weapons and give yourself up as you will be brought to Ser Myles Blackwood for your trial!"


Turning to Lord Benedict, he added: "
They will fight, probably prefer a death on the field to the hangman."

The bandit's reaction was expected by Kevan and so he simply raised his left hand "
Archers, give'm hell!"

The archers from House Lyras, having fought against the clans, the mercenaries invading Marsten lands as well as the bandits at the beginning of the week, raise their archers and let a volley of arrows fly. Most of the bandit's bowmen couldn't even prepare their bows still fumbling with their bowstrings, as the arrows rained down on them, killing most of them instantly.

Seeing the havoc wrought by the archers Roryc orders his infantery to advance, charging down into the Lady's lance.

The bandits give charge, but their poor equipment and training proves to be next to useless against the elite of House Marsten's military power. The knights ride through the bandits and whoever is not trampled by their horses they kill with their swords. Only Roryk himself and a few others remain. Their are quickly disarmed and bound and after a short break, the group starts to make its way back to the Warrior's seat, where the prisoners are likely to be held in the dungeons of the castle until their fate is decided.

As long as I am at the head of such well-trained and disciplined armies that may very well be the case, Lord Benedict. This is a topic I'd like to discuss with you in any case, once we have returned back home. The core of our forces is trained very well and can stand against any opponent. However, I am not so sure about our other men-at-arms. I'd like to make some changes to their training and equipment. But first lets get back to our camp, where we can escape this damned heat..."
