"
Only to perform my duty to family"
Theomore smiles at the ambigiousness of the statement. "
During lord Dunstan's minority, I would oft be the one to represent our house at events such as this one, I am more an adviser now, I suppose."

Benedict Blackthorne wrote:Ben has remained quiet most of the evening among the Tullison entourage. Feeling slightly overwhelmed by the scope of events. He watches Theomore and Gywneth from a distance and as she ends their conversation, he takes a path to intercept her departure.
As he comes near her from her blindside, considering present company and events, he speaks formally. "
Lady Gwyneth, I do not wish to halt your departure, but if you could spare a moment for an old acquaintance? "
Gwyn took a moment, finding herself oddly hypnotized by the talk of jousts and tournaments. And the stern-looking man talking to Theomore...she wasn't sure who he was. He didn't seem to be a knight of the hedge...he was speaking too equitably with Ser Theomore for that in her view. He wasn't Riverlands though, she was sure, nor any of the Houses of the south.
Belatedly she realized someone had accosted her, and she turned to look.
"
An old...?"
she started to ask, but did a doubletake on seeing who spoke. "
Benedict!"
she squealed, and lunged at the knight to give him a bear hug that no girl of her stature ought to have been able to administer. "
Bendy Blackthorne! You made it!"
Bendy. A little reminder of how much younger she'd been when Benedict had been obliged to leave the Marsten's holdings. She'd thought that nickname had been hilarious, and apparently still did.
As quickly as the hug had happened, it ended, as Gwyn recovered a little of her sense of propriety...though her unrepentant grin showed that sense only went skin deep.
To Theomore and the other knight she curtsied. "
Your pardons, Sers, I will take my leave. Good eve to you both."
Then she took hold of Benedict's arm and said primly, "
Of course I have a moment for you. As many as you require."

Yoren muses to himself about the nickname the new knight had gotten. He then bows to the lady as she begs her leave, to late realising that he had not gotten her name. He therefore turns to the older knight again: "
Was that lady of your household? Do you know her name?"
He nods towards the one called Bendy "
That nickname has to have an interesting history behind it, do you know it?"
he asks with a small smile and an evil glint in his eyes

"
That would be lady Gwyneth Marsten from Hartshorn"
Theomore answers. "
Ser Benedict once squired for Ser Marcus, a knight in their service, the nickname must come from there. "

Ben braces against the assault and returns the embrace equally. His hands linger at her sides as she steps away. His lip curls toward his ear in sideways grin as his face flushes red. "
Will that name never get old for you?"
He laughs quietly.
Still with some color in his cheeks he turns to Theomore and his new acquaintance and nods. He turns following Gwyns lead, arm in arm.
"
It has been to long, much to long. I have more questions than a maester? Ellie has told me little of your time at Mountains Reach and your departure."
He eyes trace over the delicate feature of Gwyns face. "
You know she is quite fond of you but also a bit jealous. She says I speak of you to often and ... stare to much."
He quickly turns his gaze forward. "
I tell her good friends are always spoken of often. As for staring ... one can not help but gaze at a beautiful sunset while its there."
He gives a small laugh.

Yoren looks over: "
you are a sharp witted knight, I hope that your words fall in worthy soil. I believe I would be better off exchanging blows with you than words, in the joust I at least may have the semblance of matching your skill."
Yoren looks over: "
When ser bendy and the marsten lady is done with their talking I would hope for you to do me a favor:"
Yoren tries a big smile: "
Maybe you would help me by re-introducing me, as I believe I fouled up my own presentation. You are for giving a man a second chance right?"

Gwyneth laughs at the idea of his sister being jealous. "
Bennedict, you can tell her what she ought to already know. No one can take her place in your heart. As young as we were when you left, I knew that even then."
"
And as for you, you missed your calling I think. You've altogether too gentle a soul for knighthood. I wonder, can you aim a lance with all those sparkles in your eyes?"
She grinned teasingly at him. "
Mountain's Reach was...a fine hold, with great hospitality."
Yve's frozen, icy smiles. The Maester's disapproving frowns that evaporated just an instant after he knew she'd seen them.
"
It weighed on me to leave, but word of the Tournament reached my ears, and I thought I should return to Hartshorn and be with my House."
Isobel staring at her flatly as she explained the situation with Dunstan. The woman could make midsummer feel like a blizzard in the darkest night of winter.
"
And what of your time with the Tullisons?"
Gwyn added, trying to steer the conversation away from her own troubles. "
Have they welcomed you?"

Ben nods at Gwyns comments on he and his sisters relationship. Then stifles his laughter at her teasing and continues listening intently to her.
"
As to aiming my lance, if I am capable of walking next to such brilliance"
he waves his hand to indicate Gwyn. "
then a few sparkles are no thing."
He gives her a devilish grin.
A serious expression clouds his face. "
Truly, great hospitality? Something must have been amiss for you to return..."
Ben scans the nearby area for eavesdroppers. Seeing no apparent. "
to the Ice Queen. But I will not press you, only ask that you remember a friend is always here if you need him."
Ben tries to cover his cloud with a smile and switch the topic for Gwyns sake. "
Yes they have made me feel welcome, but it comes easier to family. Just this morning I swore my sword to Dunstan."

Re: [D1, EE]Old Acquintances[Open]
Gwyn goes still for a moment at that news. It shouldn't come as a shock to her, she realizes, but it had never occurred to her that Bendy Benedict Blackthorne would one day be seeking his fortune away from House Marsten, and simply never coming back. But then again, wasn't that what she was trying to do too?
Would that it was so easy for her. Simply swear her sword to Dunstan and be done with it. But no. She had to somehow make him ASK her to do it.
"
Just this morning,"
she said, realizing an oddity about his confession. She looked up at his face, searching his expression. "
Why just this morning? Why wait so long?"

Ben takes a bit of melancholy appearance. "
Since I left House Marsten I have been serving my mothers family, the Blackwoods."
And Gods know I have had enough of their feud. Seen many die and many more left with nothing but their lives.
His cheerfulness returns behind a big smile. "
It was just two days ago I met up with Dunstan at an inn not far. And here I was retuning to House Tullison to see you and find you gone."

"
Mmm...bad luck,"
Gwyn sighs apologetically. "
I wish I'd known, I could have left word. But no harm done...we both came here, and here we are. And if I'm successful in my efforts, then we will be together at Mountain's Reach."
She smiles winsomely. "
It will be nice to have a friend there."

Ben appears mildly surprised, but pleased by Gwyns words. "
Well then count me in to aid those efforts if it means bringing you back to Mountains Reach."
He gives her his sideways smile. "
What are friends for, if not support."

Re: [D1, EE]Old Acquintances[Open]
Swore his sword to Dunsten, hmm?
"
On that note, maybe there is something you can do,"
she said. "
Dunstan's inner circle has never really...approved of me, for some reason. And it's hard to get news of him. Now, I would never try to come between you and the man you've sworn to, but maybe you could just let me know how he speaks of me? When he does."
At that, Gwyn sighed and added wryly, "
If he does. Anyway, nothing secret, nothing compromising...just something I can work with. To refine my approach. That wouldn't be a breach of honor now, would it?"
She grinned and tapped the end of Benedict's nose with a fingertip.

His smile widens at the fingers touch. "
If its gossip you seek and not court or battle strategy, then I suppose I could oblige."
He shows a quick flash of heartache that is just as quickly covered with cheerfulness. "
Tomorrow for instances Lord Dunstan will be riding out for the Hunt in the early afternoon from our camp with Ellie and a large dose of guards. If a young maid were to happen upon him ..."
He shrugs his shoulders. "
She may be able to get herself invited along."
OoC: I know this was already arranged just wanted to give it an IC reason. Not to mention get some IC brownie points. :;

Oh, Seven, that's brilliant!
Benedict was rewarded for his efforts by a sudden rush of excitement that washed visibly over Gwyneth. She took hold of his arm and squeezed it for a moment, beaming ferociously.
"
Never let anyone tell you that you don't know what to say to a lady,"
she said warmly. "
This is absolutely perfect. Ah...I need to think about this."
She put a hand to her temple, looking away. "
I need to plan. This needs to be just right..."

Ben does his best to return Gywns enthusiasm. "
Yes, yes. Well perhaps I should let you go you will have much to do"
He gives a devilish grin. "
pick an appropriate riding gown, find matching boots, hair up or down"
He gives a playful wink. "
Down was always my preference."
Then Ben steps back bowing. "
It has been a pleasure to see you again and hope to see much more of you. We have much more to speak of."

Gwyn returns the bow with a formal curtsy, only the impish smile on her face wrecking the form of it;
turning the courtesy into a shared jest.
"
Indeed we do. We'll speak again soon."
