The early sunlight rising above the hilltop brings rumours that Rud Perk, Ammets father, was seen by a sheperd, returning home. The locals are either flocking to the streets, or shunning them. Several fields are left untended, and the farmers are nowhere to be found. Most connect this to the return of Rud, but few knows where they are or what will happen.

Meanwhile several townsfolk have gathered at the town hall, not letting anyone deemed to be unimportant attend. In there sits several of the elders of the town, and though several of the elders are hard of hearing, not much can be heard from the outside.

In Goodman Edgarths old hut the witch has also gathered people about her, although this is a much more inclusive bunch. Even women have been allowed to attend, to hear what is being discussed, though most wise women avoid the place, staying inside, until things have settled.
