Re: [Day 2, LE] Another night at the Inn (Open)
Loreia Merrgal
Jon certainly doesn't browbeat his wisdom into the younger generation - he merely dispenses useful advice as needed or requested! :;
): Loreia can't help but get the feeling that most of the time, Jon Cobb just really enjoys being Jon Cobb (i.e. being a star and enjoying the bennies it brings). He seems quite satisfied with what he's achieved in life so far, though perhaps a little apprehensive about growing older.
Loreia learns that Jon's major dislike is nobles and other wealthy folk who feel sorry for themselves - especially those who feel trapped by their station or the expectations of society. They just don't get how fantastically privileged they are, y'know? He also strongly dislikes people who don't stand by their friends - though obviously a friend who does something heinous enough doesn't deserve that kind of loyalty. Family is a different matter - you can't choose your family, so they get exactly as much loyalty as they deserve from their actions.
Jon doesn't have much to say about his family. There was a mother, obviously, and apparently at least one sister and brother, but he has nothing to do with them anymore and doesn't seem to have any positive memories of them. He doesn't seem to care whether they're alive or dead these days. The same goes for any friends he might have had - Flea Bottom appears to be something he's left permanently behind (OOC: not a plot point I've developed, but could potentially turn up in the future if the game goes on long enough).
Jon admits that meeting the parents of pretty ladies has always been a warning sign to flee the scene ASAP! That way marriage lies, and marriage is a cage (though he may be mellowing on that point as he ages).
Jon would be happy to introduce Loreia to Ysme if she wants.
- That leaves the question of Loreia's family and friends? And does she consider Daveth a friend, or just a useful acquaintance. Has she got her eye on anyone special? (no pressure to disclose though)

Jon Cobb
Ah, he's a man of revelries. And clearly a talker.
In response to family, he must have had enough time to wonder. After enough time, you're entitled to stop wondering if you wish. Or he could send for word of them. Perhaps a few are still alive, and a couple of them doing well for themselves - well enough for him, perhaps? What she implies is the allure of mutual benefit by reconnecting with old acquaintances. Purely suggestion.
It would surely be a treat for Ysme, if she wishes to meet Loreia.
On meeting parents, it's warning sign that comes of no fault of his own, she's sure.
Loreia admits she is the sole survivor of her blood relatives. Save for her grandmother, who was kidnapped in a wildling raid. She skips over the details on the rest, lest she become more of a downer than Jon Cobb was about his family. She left friends behind on Bear Island, but she gained new friends in House Coldbrook. She and Daveth are close and know each other quite well, enough for her to consider him family. She doesn't use familiar terms for the boy, he's just 'family'.
On the subject of courtship, she confesses she has no one on her mind. The men she's met so far, while charming, don't seem the 'exclusive' type. In addition, she can't bring anyone home from most of the ones present for the tourney.
Final question: why is Jon Cobb so interested in her personally? All these questions, like a written form to fill out(she has seen such forms and documents in Daveth's study, ill-suited for ravens). Though she must admit she is a little flattered.
*Listening to talkers makes me thirsty...*

Jon grunts noncommittally in response to Loreia's suggestion of looking up family and old friends. It's clearly not something he's very interested in at the moment. He also offers his condolences on the losses she has suffered and reflects that she bears them well. He sincerely hopes her new family (Daveth) won't disappoint her.
Jon laughs heartily when confronted about all the questions he's asking. You can hardly call someone you know nothing about a friend, and how else is he going to get to know her unless he asks questions? And more to the point - doesn't she realize how interesting she is? After all, one doesn't meet very many enormously tall, handsome, women warriors from Bear Island in the South, and that alone made Jon want to know her story (and he's very glad he asked, BTW).
With that, Jon notes that he has another engagement this evening, and that he must get going or he'll be late. Before he goes, he complements Loreia on her dancing (and stamina for drink) and tells her in the strictest confidence about House Bartheld's upcoming masked ball. It's clear that he'd very much like for her to come, with or without any of the Coldbrooks. If not before, it'd be a great time to meet Ysme!
(OOC: No pressure on the Ysme thing, if you're interested we can set it up any time. I have nothing specific in mind with such a meeting - consider it an open invitation to interact more with House Bartheld whenever you feel like it.
Edit: Oops, missed that you'd already posted in the party invitation thread - you can ignore the personal invitation if you like. Also...

Sorry for the late response. Yes the scene is closed, but the invitation is welcome. The later encounter with the crier can serve as a reminder. By the way, she never knew her grandmother.
