Dunstan is pleased Dyana decided to stay. [Disposition to Amiable]
She was a pleasant companion to b around, and by the looks of it a warrior too. He was skeptical of noble marriages, but if he had to spend time with members of other noble House, Marstens seemed like good people to be around.
Helping the serving girl put those sausages and plates on the table by clearing out the excessive amount of empty tankards he said
"
Right before you wanted to leave, you said that you want something and than abruptly stopped speaking"
he reminded her.

In good spirit, and for a kind offer, Dyana is glad with her companions tonight. [Amiable with both Dunstan and Ben]
Dyana helps herself to the sausages, and begins wolfing them down. She didn't realize how hungry she was until that moment - usually she'd eat with ladylike grace, but in a tavern, near ale and wenches, she really just devoured one after the other.
"
Did I?"
She says between servings. "
It was probably nothing very important. Something like, 'I want your happiness and that of my sister', or somesuch."
She waves it off. "
Not that happiness isn't important, just me saying that."

"
To happiness!"
Dunstan proposes a toast.
When he is done emptying the tankard he wipes the ale of his beard and asks
"
Did anyone catch the eye of you my Lady? I have not seen you with your sisters at the joust earlier, surely you could do well if you start watching all the knights joust"

"
Hm!"
Dyana's eyes rise in an interjection of surprise. "
To happiness!!"
She says with a mouth half-full of chewed sausages, though to her credit, she doesn't open it too wide.
After munching a bit more and drinking a couple gulps, the woman eyes Dunstan with interest. "
The jousts? Oh, I don't like jousts, Dunstan. Haughty men pointing sticks at each other, seeing if they can bump them off the poor horses before they fall themselves. Ha!"
She bites off a piece of another sausage. "
I much prefer to spend my afternoons reading. We need more of those, you know."
She points to the nearly empty bowl of meat.

"
More food!"
Dunstan yells across the room,"
some venison this time, and that nice cheese we had two nights ago. Wine too, this ale is making me go to the chamber pot too often"
he jokes.
"
I like a woman with a good appetite Lady Dyana. You are a rather pleasant sight after all the courtesies we must endure during the day. And reading as a hobby,hm, well Haelis always says maesters are the knights of the mind."
Dunstan tries to find something nice to say about books and reading, a subject that did not interest him much.

At Dyana's mention of preferring reading to jousting busts into laughter. Then when she asks for more sausages with her mouth currently full, his laughter increases. "
We will be sure to have plenty of blood sausages and books at breakfast tomorrow."
His words are full of playfulness and camaraderie.

"
Well, you Lords and Sers will forgive a Lady with a sore back from standing upright all day if she indulges in some revelry, won't you?"
She smiles warmly at the men. "
I'd normally be more courtly, too, but I don't bloody want to. I'd appreciate some venison, yes."

Dunstan takes a hot slice of venison and pours wine into Dyana and Ben's the goblets brought over by the busy tavern gal.
"
What did you do standing up? When I am reading it's usually sitting down."
he says.
"
And courtesies bore me quite frankly. More times than I can count I find myself in a situation where I'd just hug someone instead of the entire bow and hand kissing protocol."

Hmm. I said I prefer to read. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to spend at the library. Had to indulge those Kytley bores for half the afternoon."
She sighs in remembrance, then sips some of the wine Dunstan poured for her, not before looking at the man and raising the goblet in gratitude.
Dunstan's asking too many questions. I need to... change subjects. Soon. Something inconspicuous.

The door to the Drunken Huntsman bangs open and Jon Cobb makes his customary dramatic entry, maul in hand.
I hear Dunstan's turned this place into his personal court. Let's see if he's buying the drinks today as well - I certainly could use one after a day like this.
Spotting Dunstan, Ben and Dyana gathered at a table, he makes his way over to them.
"
Lord Dunstan! A very good evening to you. I hear you rode well in the joust? And you to Ben. You do House Tullison proud."
"
Lady Dyana, how delightful to meet you again,"
Jon says with a bow. "
Is the environment of the Drunken Huntsman more to your liking than a grand feast?"
OOC: Just dropping by to see if I can cop a quick chat with Dyana.

(OOC: Done with the Marstens! I can now talk about stuff without risking becoming my own father, or other such time-paradox stuff. However, given the out-of-game time, I'll leave it up to Lord Tullison if he wants to carry the conversation on now, or if we should wait for another opportunity.)

Re: [Day 4, EN] We drank we fought we made our ancestors pro
Daveth smiles in a friendly manner at Lord Tullison. Good grief, this man changes opinions quicker than Garret changes trousers! Still, not complaining, so long as it's to our benefit. "Dunstan Tullison wrote:Dunstan nods,
"
Well, given what you told me I have no reasons not to support your noble House in securing it's rightful claim. Now what I said at the gate is true, we don't really need any help in return, regarding investment at least. Iron mines provide us with wealth and if we are to decide and tackle any construction project, we would have no issue doing it ourselves."
the young lord takes another sip
"
However we are in need of allies and friends. These are times when you cannot really have enough and both Houses can benefit from such alliance Daveth, in my humble opinion. In adition to political support House Tullison would offer all the funds needed to construct a holding, mend or upgrade Castle Greenwald. In return I seek alliance, and it should be agreed with a simple handshake"
Dunstan offers his hand
"
And it will be good for both of our Houses if we are to attach stained glass windows with motif's of both houses, or enrich our castles with tapestries depicting the same thing."
Dunstan thinks a bit about Ben and the thing he just told him outside,
"
Of course, as allies do, we might seek your support in some political matters as well. As should you do to us."
Dunstan smiles for the end, "
Queer affair is it not?! From lashing out in the Godswood to discussing possible alliances! I guess such is the way of true men!
OOC: Dunstan offers 1 Wealth point to you, and political support regarding the claim. Anything built with that wealth point should glorify the Tullisons with appropriates engravings/stained glass windows or anything similar.
If you want to put Yve into the deal feel free to go ahead, I would like it OOC but Dunstan would be stubborn.
That is indeed a generous offer, Lord Tullison, and one I am thankful for. I was not simply bargaining earlier when I told you of my belief in the power of symbols, and I believe you offer me a powerful one. However, there is one part of your offer that I'm afraid I cannot accept, though it's a commendable thing to offer in and of itself."
Daveth sits back. "
I consider myself a scholar, and one of the things I've studied quite carefully is history. Particularly what lords made what decisions, and what consequences they had, so I might learn from them. And it might interest you to learn that there have been treaties bound with nothing but a handshake before. Treaties between good and honest men, with nothing but the best intentions."
Daveth's face turns serious. "
They don't last."
he waves a hand dismissively. "
Oh, they don't fall apart right away. In good times, they hold strong. But when the bad times come for both houses, without a strong advocate for action being present, sooner or later, one side or the other always will fall short of their own expectations. It is natural for all decent men to seek to protect their own family above all, after all.
"
This is why treaties are bound to marriages,"
and why women learn how to manipulate men almost from the crib "
And why I cannot accept your offer that it is bound simply with a handshake, however much I trust that we would both mean to keep our words. I hope you can understand that I mean no insult with my words, but I don't believe in betting against historical precedent.
"
However, the alliance itself you propose is an interesting one, and one I can see having much benefit for the both of us, so I am definitely interested in that."
he gives an assessing look to Lord Tullison. "
You have a sister, do you not? Lady Yve, if I recall correctly? I've heard a lot of flattering things about her."
Daveth lets the implication hang, assessing the Lord's reaction to his words.

At Daveth's mention of Yve Ben almost chokes on his drink. He recovers wiping his chin and setting his cup down looking to Dunstan.

Re: [Day 4, EN] We drank we fought we made our ancestors pro
Here we go, selling family like cattle at slaughter season, Dunstan thought at the mention of Yve and marriage, with additional thoughts of Gwyn and the event from earlier today.
His cheerful demeanor reduced significantly he said in a level voice, with a noticeable dash of sadness in it,
"
Yve is my sister, yes, and it is true she is unwed still. However, allow me to be honest Daveth"
Dunstan scratched his cheek nervously as he counted his words
"
It is not a small thing you ask. Many know how I feel about marriages for the sake of benefits alone. When I saw you in here I was glad to help because your House, similarly to mine, is a new one and needs friends and allies. But Yve's hand in marriage I cannot promise, I cannot haggle with her...."
he voice started rising and he thought
Easy now, carefull, especially with words
"
Pardon me. What I wanted to say is, quite honestly, I cannot agree to that, especially without her in here."
He remmembered how Yve would use old Brom to fend of the many suitors back home, and decided to play the same card this time
"
Besides, Lord Brom sought her hand for some time now. He is involved in a recent scandal yes, but things might change on that front. As for handshakes, they can be shaky I agre he says and giggles at the joke, a bit tipsy still "
But imagine this. If stained glass and tapestries with Tullison markings on them were to be on display in Castle Greenwald, everyone would know we are allies, correct? With that in mind, our alliance would rest on firm foundations, and the reputation of both of our Houses would be on the line if one side is not to honor such alliance."

Daveth nods. "
Your reasons for refusal are honourable and do you credit, Lord Tullison. However, I have faith in my family's ability to make new additions feel happy and welcome. So, I ask this of you:"
holding up a finger for emphasis, with a grin on his face.
"
If a Coldbrook can convince Lady Yve herself to consent, you would have no objections? After all, if she really wanted the former Lord Brom, this matter would be settled long before now."
From where this confidence, Daveth? Garret's charming enough by local standards, but there's been a *lot* of interest around Lady Yve for some time now. Being 'a decent guy, for a bastard' just isn't going to cut it.
The only people to always lose are those who never try.
He shrugs. "
And if we can't, we'll work out how far we can take things on an ad-hoc basis. Not as good, or reliable, but better than nothing."
He looks at Lord Tullison. "
Is that agreeable to you?"

Good luck with that, Dunstan thinks as he sips on some ale.
"
Yes, I will not forbid my sister from marrying someone if she chooses too. There is one thing, however. If your plan is to pursue her hand for your brother, he would have to be legitimized first, of course."
Why isn't anyone happy with just the damned tapestries?
After some thinking, Dunstan adds
"
That is how I stand on that matter,. You may approach her, in a decent hour, but I will not tell her or suggest her to do anything."

Daveth shrugs, an amiable smile on his face. "
Fair enough, Lord Tullison."
"
So, how is your house doing in the jousting? I must confess, my various duties kept me away from seeing much of it."
(OOC: This is Daveth just trying to be friendly and amiable, business talk over. No need to RP it, unless there's something in particular you wish to discuss.)
