Re: Almanac
Early rumours
- Ser Theomore seems to have grown exceedingly busy this past year, crisscrossing the riverlands on that Fossoway steed of his.
- Aye, more so than usual, you'd see him at noteworthy events, but now it seems he shows up at near every tourney and marriage where he can talk himself into attending.
- Well, with his distinguished accomplishments, most knights and minor lords are quite pleased with such a knight gracing them with such a visit.
- I heard he also has been offered the hand of a dozen noble maids.
- I'll believe it, but it's more interesting to see what company the man keeps. I heard he and Isobel talked at great length in hushed tones during the tourney at the gates of the moon, and he seems to have a standing invitation to Lord Tully's solar.
- Lady Tully's solar, you mean....
- These are uncertain time, its seems strange that the Market-town fief still lies unclaimed.
- Aye, in happier times the throne allowed it to meander along unguided by a noble house, but in these uncertain times a firmer hand is surely needed.
- True, true. But half the Houses can lay claim to it by blood or ancient treaties.
- Lord Tully seems certain to decide within the year, and Lord Arrynmay even stake a claim via House Marsten or Longshore through the days when House Hoare held dominion in the RIverlands.
- I fear the throne may even become involved, a proxy conflict between Green and Black interests beckons.
- Ser Benjen's fall have given Lord Forrest Frey no end of headache I hear.
- Indeed, he sent the Lady Floreta to a septry to keep her away from half a dozen cousins wanting her brother's tower.
- A sabbatical while he resolves the situation rather than a permanent banishment.
- Bah, I bet he intends to keep the little flirt there forever.
- Upstarts the whole lot of them, always grasping for more.
- I heard Athelstan Pyke defeated Lord Mallister when Seagard marched against House Longshore, earning the Sea Wyrm his freedom.
- Fucking kin-slaying scum. Surely even the drowned god will turn his back on him.
[Much nodding and murmured agreement]
- You say that here, but would you say that to his face?
- Lord Drakeson's victory in the trial by combat judged him guilty. All men know his worth now and are free to ignore him as a base cur.
- I hear the heir to House Longshore mounted a great expedition to the frozen North, accompanied by the Shieldmaiden herself!
- Word is they brought back mammoth tusks, dragon-glass and a horn made of Valyrian steel!
- I 'eard he has an enchanted ruby necklace from the Lord o' Light that kept him warm against the cold of the North, else the expedition was doomed to fail.
- You're talkin' shite Derrick. No queer Eastern god holds sway that far North.
- Ser Jorah Holt is what a knight should be, chasing down the faith militant and defeating knight who fail to live up to their vows alike.
- True, an ill-deed that Ser Benjen escaped, but at least that Dulver boy put him down for good.
- Aye, another round of that song!

Re: Almanac
Rumours for the start of D3
- I heard a royal overseer will arrive on [D4] in preparation for the investigators delivering their final judgement.
- Aye, they say Lord Tully sent his own son to accompany to them, along with Daleford and Lucas dignitaries and troops. Houses that felt overlooked from the investigation clamoured to be part of this second wave.
- I'm surprised Lord Tully didn't auction the escort duty off, greedy old toad.
- Pfft, House Daleford are present, they couldn't have afforded the paper to even bid with had an auction taken place!
[Raucous laughter, followed by wild speculation at the identity of the royal visitor - a kingsguard? a small council member? or even one of the Royal blood?]
- I heard from Tall Sue the washerwoman that Lady Corrine Marsten came chargin' in to Ser Myles Blackwood's solar and tried to lecture him on military tactics.
- Ha! That would have been a sight!
- More proof of what happens if you put women in charge. She discredits her own cause by her actions.
- I'd be ashamed if I were Ser Kevan or Lord Marsten - it's their role to advise her on the manly sphere of activities like warfare.
- I'd like that young lady to take a look at my manly spheres! [obscene gesture]
- Pity the villagers of Pennytree. Trade there was already slowing following previous attacks on merchants, but there's been a second raid much closer to the village itself.
- Fuck's sake. I'd have thought that kind of flagrant violence would have ended by now. Shouldn't the King's banner bring peace?
- By the Seven, I'd have hoped for better once King Viserys' Red Dragon banner appeared.
- A weak king and a weaker kingdom.
- Careful, there's green ears and black ears all around, that could be called traitor talk....
- I hear the Daleford girl has gone missing.
[Lady shakes her head, fanning herself in a gesture of sorrow despite the Spring chill]
- Poor Lord Daleford, that benighted family has known nothing but sorrow in exchange for their leal service to House Targaryen in suppressing the Faith Militant.
- Has Lord Drakeson turned over a new leaf? I heard that Lady Gwyneth has him shackled now.
- Have you seen Lady Gwyneth? I'd swear off the boars you rut with for one night with that beauty, I heard her sing at Riverrun, voice of the Maiden herself.
- Awh, I think Wat's in love lads!
- Word has it that his richly deserved spell in Lord Longshore's dungeon and his increased focus on close-combat has seen Athelstan's skill as a jouster atrophy.
- Aye, he don't sit a horse as well as he used to.
- Still, that axe won him his freedom and almost freed Lord Mallister from this mortal coil. Better a free-man and a moderate horseman than the greatest Ironborn to ever sit a steed but condemned to rot in Longshore's cells.
- True, and an Ironborn unhorsing knights always strikes me as queer. Another sign of a kingdom gone made.
- Two shadowcats! There were two shadowcats!
- Lady Corrine Marsten herself shot one of them - I saw her shoot at Riverrun, she's no slouch with a bow.
- Not bad for the fairer sex!
- [Wearily] - Doubtless another propaganda coup for the Princess's faction.
- Aye, but it took a man to track the other beast. Luecian Longbow himself crept along stealthily, aware that there were too.
- I've heard tell he's the equal of Eddrick Goodwater of Riverrun when it comes to tracking.
- His equal? Five coppers say Luecian's his better.
- Piss off Ham, how do you propose we settle the bet?

Re: Almanac
Additional rumours based on late closing D2 events that appears along with the others on D3
- So why is that asshole Pate being kept at Old Tom's farm in Blackwood lands, poor Tom had to abandon it during the fighting. Pate should be with the other prisoners.
- Seems he can identify the men that tried to frame the Blackwoods for the attack on the Sept.
- Ah. He's probably just feeding the Sers a pile of bullshit.
- I don't know. He gave the Bartheld whore some pretty good descriptions. They say that kid has eyes everywhere. I wouldn't want to be them.
- I don't know why the Sers truck with a sword swallower.
- You saw what he did to that raider this morning. I wouldn't want to fuck with him.
- So you say. (laugh)

Re: Almanac
Day 4 Rumours
- It may not be as strange a sight as seeing the Bracken Horse rest at the Blackwood tree, but seeing the survivors of Battle Valley's shattered Septry beneath Coldbrook tents is a queer sight.
- Aye, but it were an annointed knight of the Seven that made it so, not some skin-wearing northerner or tree worshipper. Ser Jorah the Just himself made it so.
- Well said! Here at least the royal investigators have done justice, alongside House Bartheld's efforts at Blackbuckle.
- Not just restitution at Blackbuckle but also justice. Heard that strange Bartheld aide wasn't shy in administering justice.
- Winter was hard, and the fighting has only made things harder.
- Not just the fighting, but the peace too. Those beneath the royal banner may have enforced peace, but the arrival of such a large force from outside the valley has set people on edge.
- Fuck you, Wat, it's done more than put people on edge. Get enough soldiers in one place and dark deeds are done.
- Too true. I heard that Sam's cousin's farm was sacked by those beneath the royal banner.
- Aye, some have taken liberties. Battle Valley needs to rise up on both sides to protect home, hearth and families from those who would do wicked deeds beneath the protection of royal colours.
- Pfft, listen to yourself. These aren't a few rotten apples. Only a fool says "
If only the king knew"
. Those beneath a royal banner work for the Crown. I spit on them.
- Strange days indeed. Ser Jon Roxton is as Green as a summer field, but I heard him say he'd have done the same in Lord Drakeson's place but faster.
- He's not called Bold for naught Henry.
- True, he's swift to action, but word from the royal scouts is Lord Drakeson had the right of things. A bastard kin-slayer interfering with something as serious as wildfire? It can only end one way.
- Well said.
- After all that fuss with the Marstens and Lord Blackwood.
- [Interrupting] Ahem, you mean Ser Myles Blackwood.,
- Quite so, he just has such a lordly manner about him, a commanding bearing. Anyway, after the fuss with the Marstens and Ser Myles, I have it on good account from one of the washerwomen that Lord Marsten could be heard vigorously chastising Lady Marsten. Quite the ringing blow was heard, to hear old Myra the washerwoman tell it.
- An Andal lady should know her place and if not an Andal man should put her in it. The "
rule of six"
exists for a good reason - reasonable chastisement seems only natural in the eyes of Gods and men.

Re: Almanac
Initial D6 rumours, hopefully a few more to follow
-Word is that Lady Kerry has been a bit too adventurous of late, loose tongues speaking of a certain glow in her eyes and energy in the gait.
-Must be Lord Baelon, ever since she laid eyes upon him, those eyes have been slow in taking in another sight, and he is staying right there at Warrior's seat.
-Aye, he is well known for his appetite, that one, making the eight before turning seventeen and all.
-You youngsters are swimming in your cups again, he has the subtlety of a dragon, a bastard dragon, even, if he sheathed his sword in her, everyone would know.
-Then what about Ser Theomore? He is handsome and he moves around the circles of nobles like a fish in water. You remember the talk of him and Floreta at Riverrun?
-But he showed such honor and selflessness to the fallen Ser Hugh, surely he would not be tarnishing himself by spoiling Lady Kerry's virtue!
-What of that Ironborn? Yoran?
-Yoren his name is, you drink too much.
-But now that you mention it, why would godless men honor the virtue of a lady?
- Did you hear about that Ironborn investigator?
- Yeah, how are these damn investigators supposed to find the truth when they are actively working against each other?
- That's not all I heard, I heard that the Dulver's showed up after and their Septon started chastising a Lord!
- Now what's frightening, isn't he the one that spoke out at the trial of Ser Benjen Frey?
- Yep that is that one, Septon Allison, or Albion or...
- Arlyn?
- Yeah, Septon Arlyn, the fat one. Anyways he had better watch his step around all these Lord's. I bet all these investigators will start dragging around their guards now."
- Although I heard he was questioning the authority of the Lord Baelon, the champion of Riverruns melee. I heard that he was suggesting that maybe if the other bastard of Lord Coldbrook was heir this whole incident may have been avoided.
- Funny that, Daveth isn't even Lord Coldbrook's son, it was whispered to me at the inn that he displaced his step-brother by guile and preying upon their shared grief. Clearly unable to keep that dragon bastard in check.
- Aye, that sounds quite like what someone without proper knightly instructions might do, but the seawyrm was a kinslayer who committed suicide anyways. Who cares?
- I heard from my friend in the Bracken's keep that the Longshore heir was quite upset *spits* may spell trouble for the Coldbrooks.
- Bah, my money is on Lord Longshore not giving a flying pigs ass.
- I would not be so sure, besides you still owe me a silver stag from the last bet you lost?
- Double or nothing?
- Hush you two, I hear that some of these walls have ears that reach all the way to a little birdies nest. I hear that there is a mother bird who calls herself the Nightingale. Best be careful with this slanderous talk, or you might be taking a long swim with some heavy rocks
- Whatever, your just as crazy as your old man, none of these Lord's give a lick what a couple of commoners like us have to say
- Yeah, until you end up suspended in the gibbet, as food for the crows.
-I hear Ser Theomore brought back a fair amount of captives from his two days chasing down all sorts of rebels, outlaws and broken men.
-Aye, to appease the lady Corrine no doubt, she has a woman's soft heart, with no stomach for what needs to be done.
-Or maybe to irritate the Prince? No doubt he would want them all fed to his dragon.
-Not bloody likely, Ser Theomore is no such fool.
-He is a good and virtuous knight, sparing the lives of those who surrender to him.
-Or a clever and pragmatic knight, sparing them makes it more likely that the next group will surrender rather than fight to the death.
-I heard some of his men say that they think he will allow them to take the black.
-I don't want to be there when the Prince learns of that....

Re: Almanac
Further rumours
- Daveth Coldbrook might not be Lord Tomas's blood but he has his bravery.
- Really? I heard he was on his knees being sick during the wildfire explosion. He has a woman's stomach to go with his Black colours.
- You weren't there you Seven-cursed shit. You wouldn't doubt those who took part if you'd seen what I've seen.
- [a pause]
- You're right, must have been grim. Lost a cousin in that.
- Aye, and we'd all have lost more. What's not been said is that Master Daveth fought through to heal the sick and injured, weak stomach or not.
- Well said, shouldn't have doubted him. He saved the common folk while others rushed to help those of noble birth. [raises a tankard]
- You're not the only one to praise 'im. Lady Alyssane Blackwood hereself had fine words for 'im.
- Aye, Black Aly herself said "
He may have been afraid, but only a man with fear in his heart can be brave"
, so she did.
- She's a queer one and yet unwed because of it. Prancing around in mail, directing her archers. Almost as lady as Lord Frey's wife, or should I say Lady Forrest Frey's wife. [laughter].
- Black Aly's a like age to Master Daveth...
- Would the Old God worshippers marry one another or are they better off forging alliances with Seven worshippers, cut off as they are here south of the neck?
- Beyond our rank Pew. Get another round in.

Re: Almanac
- You heard of that Redwain cider everyone in Stone Hedge and Pennytree is drinking?
- Fuck me, it's the one thing both houses can agree on.
- I had a sip of it myself, sweet and refreshing
- Rumour has it Ser Kevan Lyras himself praised it to be as good as the Fossoway cider from Cider Hall
- Aye! I even heard Lord Haigh Bracken hisself drinks it now and has taken a liking to it.
- He is having some sent to him from House Redwain.
- Who are the Redwain's anyway?
- All I know is there is a knight around from that House?

Re: Almanac
D8 events
- Picking up the gauntlets: viewtopic.php?f=189&
t=2533
- Scrutinising the treaty: viewtopic.php?f=191&
t=2541
Initial rumours
- They say that ironborn lord tried to clap Lady Drakeson in irons this afternoon.
- Is that all you heard? I have it on top authority that he was drooling over her and talkin' 'bout rapin' her or worse while he had her.
- Those ironborn are savages, they should be driven in to the sea.
- Aye, but you saw what happened to Lord Mallister: the Longshores are not toothless and have endured a hundred years on the mainland with few friends. Strong, crafty shits, so they are.
- Can't say as I blame him for wanting a go on that Lady Drakeson - you seen her?
- You're sick in the head, Sam, and a fool too. You know she's married to Prince Daemon's bastard, right? You so much as touch her and he'd gut you like a fish.
- That's why the ironborn lord let her go. He saw folk watching him and got scared. Heard he all but pissed hisself runnin' away.
- Some ironborn! Them Mallisters got the right idea, and if their lords are that cowardly maybe it's time to cut 'em down for good.

Re: Almanac
D8 Early evening
A proclamation from Lord Jasper Wylde, better known as Ironrod.
- Ill tiding from King's Landing, dark wings and dark words. Prince Aemond Targaryen returned to the capital to learn that one of the Kingsguard had fallen.
Ser Rickard Thorne, stalwart shield to the Targaryens, finally succumbed to the injuries suffered protecting the Prince in the disturbance at Riverrun last year. Let all remember his service and seek to emulate his bravery.
King Viserys Targaryen summons Ser Jorah Holt to take up the white cloak and shield to protect the throne directly, as he already done countless times by word and deed already. Ser Jorah the Just will be summoned to the capital in the coming months to take up the White of the Kingsguard.
Let it be known and let it done,
in the name of King Viserys Targaryen,
First of His Name, King of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Protector of the Realm, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms
