Re: Awesome moments in Dragons Dance
Not so much a moment so much as an awesome thing that happens over and over:
Benjamin Blackthorne's . Awesome. When worked into the narrative naturally as he does it, it adds to the feel and immersiveness. It makes them seem more like people, each with their own untold story, and not just merely stage dressing.

Dunstan, under the influence of the infamous strong ale in the Inn and the general friendly atmosphere makes an offer to the rugged fisherman.
Being a Tullison is going to be fun

All seems reasonable to me. I recruit as often as possible. Admittedly my recruitment entails the subtraction of armor rather than the addition of it.

Re: Awesome moments in Dragons Dance
Quite enjoying the posts so far, although I have to admit I was hoping a full fledged tavern brawl would break out In looking through the Character-creation I noticed something and was hoping for some clarity.
The Riverlands were recently marred by another bought of violence between the Blackwoods and Brackens, with several houses sending allied contingents due to ties of religion and marriage. The Coldbrooks sent troops to support their fellow adherents to the Old Gods in House Blackwood, who were also supported by House Dulver, their cousins by marriage. Houses Tullison and Marsten came down from the mountains to lend their sword to their fellow worshippers of the Seven in House Bracken.
It seems that the Tullisons and the Brackens were allies not too long ago, so was the incident at the tavern just a case of mistaken identities? Otherwise it seems like Bracken men would be favorably disposed towards Tullison men.

Re: Awesome moments in Dragons Dance
During the resurgence in tensions between the Blackwoods and Brackens, Lord Sterl of House Tullison answered the call of Lord Blackwood and went to war against the feared Lord Bracken. In the fighting, Lord Sterl met his end, leaving his wife, Lady Moraine, in charge of his two-year old son Dunstan, and his newborn daughter Yves.
I was going by this event description, from the Home House history forum. It seems like Lord Sterl died fighting the Brackens, not the Blackwoods.

Ah, that makes sense. Maybe Reader can clarify, or maybe House Tullison has just fought on both sides at various points.

Re: Awesome moments in Dragons Dance
Most of the Tullison material, Sterl fighting for Blackwood, his wife being a Blackwood too, if memory serves, indicates that Tullisons would be Blackwood allies throughout.

Me too! But The Knight of the Persuasive Word put a stop to that twice. Probably for the best though.

Excellently done, and very evocative (despite the anachronistic 'bro' and the logical fallacy :;

I almost feel sorry for Theomore.

Re: Awesome moments in Dragons Dance
Except the part with the biggest no-no you can make. While I am ordinarily not a fan of dragging such things out in the open, and I'm handling the particulars of this through pm, I think it does need mention in public.
Whatever Theomore does or does not do, is my choice alone. And all I ever wrote was that Theomore paid someone to get easy opponents. That he personally handed coin to the tourney master, did so right before the schedule was announced/altered and in front of witnesses. These things are mine to establish.

Re: Awesome moments in Dragons Dance
Because this was mentioned publicly, I'll just mention here as well that it was *supposed* to be obvious that Daveth was being conned. Sadly, it was only thus if you already knew that. I have now edited the post to (hopefully) make that clearer. Hopefully this fixes the problem.

Ben feigns fear, before returning to his easy smile. "
She would make a scary puppet master. I will leave her as she is ... a pest."
He then dodges the incoming blow from Ellie.
Love the relationship between Ben and Ellie, in the quoted example as well as many others:)

Oh snap! Splendid political dig there - my emphasis.

Interesting to see how poor choice of words can make things worse than intended.

Re: Awesome moments in Dragons Dance
Closing the door before leaving, Raff makes his way back towards the entrance, producing a sack to put the cloth he brought (and collected) into. Small details like leaving with something else than he came with certainly helped.
Raff had one more task to pursue before he could take some rest this morning, and that would be finding the boats down in the river, fishers were a curious lot, already out in their boats and back again before other people had broken their fast. Good for those not yet having broken their fast to be sure. Likely why they did it.
And it suits Raff just fine, "
His Lordship wants his men to eat trout today"
is the first lie of his for this day. He has hunch that there will be many more of those. Ser has it going for this tourney, just like all the others.
Most impressive of course, are the stories ser Theomore returns with. After all, no proper fishing trip is without a good tale about a man's exploits...and this one was fantastic and considering the amount of nice looking catch brought back, maybe even only exaggerated in the most dramatic moments. All could agree though, it was a good tale, and quite vividly told.
Brilliant fishing from the dynamic duo

Yes, well. That first quote is not related to the fishing trip though.
