After hearing at Stone Hedge about Ser Wyll Rivers, a hedge knight prone to issuing “challenges” and disrupting trade at key bridges and passes, he and Trelane rode out to find the cur until he found a group of peasants hurrying down the road. After a brief discussion, he learned that a knight up ahead was preventing passage on a bridge. Riding up, he offered a challenge.

"
Ser Wyll Rivers I presume. I am Ser Jorah Holt and I order you in the name of the Crown to stand down."

ooc
Is he armed with lance or hand weapon?

Wyll rivers looks menancing in his heavy plate, although it must be extremely humid in there. He simply tells Ser Jorah: "
Step back and I won't have to kill you."

Ser Jorah stared him down

"
You are attacking people who try to pass over this bridge. If you will not stand down in the name of the King, I will have to stop you."
He selected his warlance and turned to face his opponent.

"
Watch and learn,"
he told Trelane

AR: 11
Stance: High in the saddle +2: 8d6k4 17 +2 =19
Damage: 10 per DOS so 20 I think - 9AR so 11 damage - he'll need to take 1 injury to stay in this.
Looks like he has 13 for Passive Ride, so 2 DOS, which on a war lance means he's also been impaled. Ouch

Wyll turns around and charges in again, some people just don't learn. Madness is performing the same action twice expecting different results, but that is just what Wyll does...

ooc you forgot -1 for the injury, so again only 1 DOS

having left his war lance impaled in Ser Wyll, he was impressed that the man still continued to ride. The blow had struck his shield, but he was alright. As he had no war lances remaining, he drew his sword and charged. this was turning into the strangest joust ever.

ooc
neither have reach, so both still strike at the same time
: 8d6k4 21+1 for castleforged =22 - still 2 dos for 5 damage after 9AR

TN12 for Ser Wyll to remain on his horse

Wyll dwars the short straw again, and takes another hit to his right side, this time falling off his horse, panting on the ground with a lance through him, he is at Jorah's mercy.

[OOC: Ser Wyll will fall from his saddle on the 12 Ser Jorah just rolled, due to his injury penalty. Remember you take the attack's damage again, ignoring armour if unseated.]

Ser Wyll Rivers had finally crossed a man who was his better. His storied career in tournaments and in holding up passing knights and merchants was finally at an end. House Coldbrook's knight would be warmly received in Battle Valley for ending this scourge.

The hedgeknight was beside his horse, breathing his last breaths as his blood flowed in to the riverways he had once terrorised.

Even rogues are mourned and Ser Wyll had not been unkind to his courser, the animal tenderly nudging its master, hoping for a response that never came.

[OOC: War Lances are vicious = dead.

+1 glory to Ser Jorah.]

As Ser Jorah drew his war lance out of Ser Wyll's corpse, Trelane hurried up to take it

"
perhaps my previous teachings have been a little lax or missing finer nuances, but I don't recall the use of a sword in a joust as a standard practice. Northerners must have some interesting tournaments."

Jorah suppressed a laugh, considering the circumstances
"
Well, as he wasn't planning to return my lance, the best lesson here is improvise when you have to and if in doubt, sometimes your best option is just hit as hard as you can and see what happens."
