Septon Arlyn walks along the forest road after the incident at the Septry, He had just placed the armor given to him by Ser Kevan, Its coolness nipping slightly through the padded gambeson where The armor touched his flesh on his arms where the sleeves ended. It could have almost been called uncomfortable except for the fact that Septon Arlyn found the weight to be reassuring. He had his robes covering the armor, adding slightly to the weight, possibly the cause of the discomfort, but clearly delineating his station as a Septon. The rain dripped heavily through the leaves of the trees as he traveled through a short cut leading back to the campsite under the kings banner, where he had made plans to meet Luecian to go investigate the blacksmith at Raventree hall.

He had sent his men ahead earlier on the longer path, wanting to spend some time alone. The Septon often liked taking walking by himself, as it gave him time to puzzle over issues, sometimes coming to a conclusion that he would not have thought of otherwise. As the musty earthy smell filled the air Septon Arlyn also smelled the charred smell of some wood smoke from a campfire.

That's odd, I wonder if some soldiers have decided to find some solitude of their own.

The Septon continued walking, trying to think about why Ser Tyron would have been so brazen in the salting fields incident, wondering if he acted alone or had orders from the old Lord Blackwood when he hears some muffled sobbing from the direction of where the campfire was coming from.

Oh dear, This is exactally why some of the small folk are so upset with the soliders from the peacekeeping force.

Moving towards the sound Septon Arlyn takes off from the path, heading up a small hill in the forest. As the big man crests the ridge he sees a small campsite with 4 men surrounding a campfire with a dirty women tied up next to one of the tents. He notices a few furnishings from the green door Inn and a small stack of firewood, as well as a broken crate and a few barrels.

"
In the name of the kings justice I demand that you surrender and return your ill gotten goods!"
Demands Septon Arlyn, standing up on the small crest of the hill, looking into bowl shaped depression.

The Four men surrounding the fire give a slight start, then look up at the big Septon. A small laugh breaks out from the biggest one, clearly amused by the Septon's bold delcaraction. "
And who might you be? to demand a surrender from us humble chaps her'?"
He drawls slowly, clearly not impressed.

"
I am Septon Arlyn of House Dulver, and you have no right to keep that women held, and the property of the green door Inn is clearly evidence in an ongoing investigation! You are surrounded by House Dulvers soliders, give up peacefully and I will advocate for a less harsh punishment for you"
Wow, that is a terrible time for me to be walking by myself now.

The big man spits in the Septon's Direction, "
If you want her, then come and claim her."


Gods damit. "
You leave me no choice!"
Declares the Septon, and he charges towards the camp.

Grappling Septon Arlyn

Septon Arlyn is set upon by the three footpads, his injury and new armor slowing down his reaction time. The first bandit lines up his running charge, trying to wrap the Septon up so that he would be easy targets for his compatriots. He easily wraps the Septon Up, leaving him venerable for the next attacks by his companions.

The next footpad comes charging in and his dagger strikes the Septon in the belly, thankfully the blow was turned aside by the Septons armor and robes, but the force was enough to leave a bruise tomorrow.

After Seeing the two other Bandits act before him, The third bandit runs around the tree to give the a hard thwack to the side. The armor and robes again absorbed the majority of the blow, but Septon Arlyn did feel a sharp pinch as the blade struck his side.

The leader of the group grabbed his battle axe from his belt loop and swing the shield out in front of himself and charges for the Septon hoping to use his weight and momentum to cause extra damage to the big man. The Blow Strikes true and Septon Arlyn feels the amor stop the blade, but the impact leaves him slightly breathless

Septon Arlyn struggles to break free from the grasp, but the gods did not hear his prayers, or were still recovering from his heroics the night before. In his struggling he did manage to injure the bandit who was holding him, but not enough to force the bandit to let the Septon go.

The footpad has the Septon secure, so using his heaft he attempts to drive his elbow into the Septon's stomach, the blow is thankfully absorbed by the armor. Although it did open the Septon up for the follow up attack slightly

Round 2

I don't see a 'C' on your grid, so I'm putting Footpad 'C' at G11, which means he can't be assisted by any of his footpad friends. They each only have one dirk, and they're grabbing with their offhand, so two-weapon attacks aren't possible at this time.

The other bandits get their attacks in, but are quite surprised, it seems their blades have found no additional purchase. "
Th' hell're ya wearin' under them fancy robes...? Heh, 's'alright lads, piggy's only shy, bein' 'is first dance wit' th' Stranger an' all!"
This gets a slight chuckle from his friends, the most recent attacker keen on wetting his blade next time.

(yes bandit 1 has a shield and armor, so he would have CD 6 + 3 from cautious attack for a total of 9 CD.

[Just trying to clear it up. Your armor, I believe, penalizes your CD by 1, giving you 7. Thankfully, having 7 or 8 doesn't matter this round.]

[OOC: Bandit damage is incorrect, battleaxe has been house-ruled to Athletics +1, so it should be 3 one handed and 4 two-handed.
Also can armors be stacked like that? If so most of us should be getting an extra AR from the padded gambeson worn under heavy armor.
On the pro Arlyn side, I believe assists count as attacks, so the footpads cannot attack and assist, even with fatigue.]

(The Septon has base CD of 7 (2 athletics, 2 agility and 3 awareness) +2 defensive bonus from shield would place him at 9 - 1 AP, From when Ser kevan gave me superior ring mail (AR 4, AP - 1 bulk 1,) over which I am wearing robes (AR 1, AP 0, bulk 1), essentially I am wearing superior hide armor, only I'm layering, because hey, winter is coming. Also last round my CD was 11 due to cautious attack so the last attack was only 1 DOS, not getting through the AR ☺️

Due to ruling from reader Septon Arlyn would have taken 3 extra damage placing his health at 1/9

Septon Arlyn raises his shield as if he is going for an over head smash with his cudgel, distracting the first bandit, then follows up with an offside smash to the bandits ribs and with a solid thud the Septon hears the wind rush out of the bandits lips

Whoops, typo in the orokos roll descriptions.

Maybe they'd lose a man. The band it would replace him. This holy man was different, though. Traveling brown brothers, septons, septas, they're like lambs. When usually they can't or won't fight back, they're pretty pathetic when they try. But this one's actually good.

OOC: I just read the new rules and revisited the changes to the battleaxe. I apologize, I will amend my future rolls with the bandit. Since I rolled more dice than I should have, I'm going to let the damage stand as-is.

Swinging wildly at the bandits, he bought some space from the bandits, but for how long was unknown. "

The footpads lose their nerve when the charismatic Arlyn lets it slip that he is with the investigation.

his compatriot rejoins. The three of them step away, allowing a fair fight in trade for their hostility toward a man under the king's protection. Besides, they weren't hurting him much anyway.

Between the curdling shouts from their women captives and the caving of his men's wobbly knees, ready to be done with this fool, the bandit leader picks up his shield in trade for being abandoned and brings his axe up to chop the septon. The head rakes his ring mail, rattling flatly against the tight rings.

He rages against the captives, who haven't let up shouting all this time. "
One more sound outta you lot an' I'll make sure it's the last sound you'll ever make!"

Septon Arlyn drops his mace and uncoils the incense burner from around his waist after the mail caught the axe. Whipping the chain and ball around his head the Septon uses its momentum

[OOC: don't forget the 1B training penalty on a ball and chain. Your mace attacks were 4d6k3, so your B&
C attacks should be 3d6.]

(OOC, got a ruling from reader to change bandits weapon to a mace. Damage and injuries and fatigue still stand if that is ok with Loreia.)

The Septon see the mace come heavily overhanded, raising his shield, he catches the brunt of the force with his shield he feels the rest of the force crash into his new armor. Thank the Gods for Kevin's gift.

taking a moment to aim again, the septon does not hold back, hoping to damage his opponents shield with his incise burner.

Septon Arlyn catches the mace with his shield and deflects it to the side. I can tell that he is beginning to tire, Hopefully I can outlast him. Catching the sunlight on his shield, he shines it into the bandits eyes, causing him to squint as he brings the incense burner onto the mans shield, smashing the shield and denting it fiercely, but the wood still holds against the Septons wrath.

Septon Arlyn again catches the blunt mace again on his shield, his tired arm begining to ache as the mace once again viscously slams against the Septons body armor. His defenses are too stong, I can't push through them. I need him to wildly attack again so that he opens himself up to my blow. "

He then makes a defensive swing with his insince burner, reminding the bandit of the humiliation of being stuck by a Septons tools.

(Then it is a spear, and there would already be a dead bandit as I was not adding +1 damage for my mace either. Spear and shield was very common in usage as it was A) cheap, and B) allowed people to hunt C) allowed people to hit the other guy before they got hit. We are aiming for 2 damage per DOS, I was reading from the rulebook and forgot to check the house rules when I wrote up this scenario Rolling Eyes Laughing )
