"
Is that right?"
Dunstan looks at Loreia and Baelon - "
Pardon me than."
"
Let's go Ben, hopefully Ser Jon will live up to his legendary reputation!"
Dunstan says, stands up with the mug of ale still in his hands and leaves to Ser Jon's table.

Have no worries, I didn't realize it was a private conversation either."

OoC: Baelon if its alright with you We will continue our new conversations in this thread. If it is a problem I can move it.
As Dunstan and Ben approach Roxton's table for a second time this evening, Ben notices the young man form the Inn of the Kneeling Man. "
Aye. Nathan correct?"
He seems pretty sure he is right. "
Dunstan may I introduce Nathan the young singer from the Inn."
Turning to Nathan. "
This is Dunstan my cousin and nephew to Ser Theomore, the one we spoke of."
Ben seems quite pleased to see Nathan.

Nathan rises and shakes both men's hands. He has an easy smile, and seems grateful for the distraction from Ser Jon's constant river of ale. He has had his share, but does not seem overtly the worse for it.
"
Ser Benedict, good to see you again! A pleasure to meet you Dunstan."
[OOC: Since up till now Dunstan has been referred to by Ben as 'cousin' or 'nephew' he has really no reason to know that Dunstan is 'Lord Dunstan of House Tullison'. And no-one has actually used Dunstan's title in his presence.]

Ben gives a sideways smile. "
Good to see you as well. It seems these fellows are attempting to drown you in ale."
He gives a small laugh. "
I hope the rest of your journey here was pleasant. Have you and your ... friends found residence? As I am sure most places have been over-filled with visitors for the tourney."

"
Oh, we are quite settled. We rarely have problems finding a bed."
replies Nathan with a bit of a smirk. "
We are staying at the Painted World. Lyra Brewer was most hospitable. Please, join me. Let me buy you a drink."
Nathan indicates an open table and motions for a serving girl, switching back to apple cider out of eyesight of Ser Jon.

Dunstan follows Ser Ben and Nathan to the table and sits down.
"
What brings you to Riverrun? Are you going to try your hand at the meele, or the joust perhaps?"
Dunstan did think that is highly unlikely but deep down hoped to discover a story of the unlikely hero in the boy - the one of the underdog coming to compete with the proven knights of the realm.

Re: [D1, Early Night] Conversation (Open)
Nathan barked a warm laugh which he quickly suppressed into a chuckle.
"
I'm sorry Dunstan."
he smiles. "
I mean no offense. I appreciate the appeal of such contests and I will be an enthusiastic spectator, but I have no desire to participate in such contests myself. Being rammed by a small tree at high speed only to become intimately acquainted with the ground is not on my immediate agenda. I did joust for one afternoon a few years ago. A squire in House Bartheld's service urged me to give it a try, and I am one who believes you should be open to new experiences. I didn't completely embarrass myself, but I was bruised for weeks afterwards and I quickly learned my talents lie elsewhere."

Bens laughter joined Nathans. "
Yes the bruises do tend to last some time."
He reflexively rubs his left shoulder. "
I would hope you repaid that squire for his "
urging"
you to those bruises."
He shakes his head smiling wide.

"
I assure you my pains were suitably rewarded."
Nathan replies with a sparkle in his eye. "
He was quite conciliatory and attentive for some time, although I will admit my limping from the field afterward, while genuine, may have been mildly exaggerated."
He grins.

Loreia sighs. "Baelon wrote:"

Well I was about to tell you which house I serve, I'm with House Coldbrook. How we've been faring recently is a sore topic, for a reason which I don't believe would've sit well with His Lordship."
She let that sentence hang in the air before she continued. "
Last year, at the tourney at the Twins, our heir entered the tourney without anyone's knowledge. And now, our lord has no trueborn son to groom for leadership of Grenward."
She let the implications of her words stand like mountains against the canvas of a bright sky.

"
Ah, House Coldbrook. I met your young Master Daveth earlier today - we discussed the possibility that your house might lend some troops to House Marsten's efforts against the clans."
He thinks back a moment.
"
I do seem to remember a mystery knight being carried off the field in a tourney at the Twins... that was the heir to House Coldbrook then? That is terribly unfortunate... but why do you think that would upset... wait, you mentioned the tourney at the Twins before - something to do with Ser Theomore...was it Ser Theomore who tilted against the slain heir? Still, why should there be such hard feelings this long after the accident? Unless you don't think it was an accident?"
Ser Theomore may not be a man of virtue, but I doubt he is a murderer. Still, this may make it difficult to recruit both houses against the clans...

Accident or no, it demands ransom! If someone spilled beer on you right now, would your take on them remain the same if they'd walked away without a 'sorry'? Worse offenses demand more than that in return, even accidents."
"
Somethin' I pray young Lord Tullison understands,"
she adds, glancing over at Dunstan, smiling briefly in the event he notices her watching. She looks down at her drink. "
Please pardon my ranting. I care a great deal for m'lord's family."

"
You have nothing to apologize for."
There wasn't even an apology? Is Ser Theomore so crass to not even apologize for taking a life, even if on accident?
"
I take it then that having both House Coldbrook and House Tullison assist us against the clans is out of the question."
No, this doesn't seem right. There must be some sort of misunderstanding. I might believe that Theomore would be that way, but it doesn't sound like Dunstan at all. Eh, not my place and not my concern. If resolves itself, all well and good. If not... I don't want to be stuck in the middle of it.

Seems like. There's a chance it could be settled;
that both fought 'longside House Blackwood has to mean something. Theomore's thoughts and intent'll need to be known, but I don't believe anyone from our house would give him the time of day. Garret and Daveth sure wouldn't want to..."
The sudden realization that she's being incredibly forward on the matter with a new acquaintance slaps her silly. While at first approaching someone worth knowing to get to know them, Loreia had been gushing about the relations between her house and other noble families. She nearly freezes in her chair. "
I-I hope I can count on your discretion."

Nathan takes another sip of his cider. "
As to your question, Dunstan, I do hope to participate in some of the more common games that are often held during these tourneys;
running, swimming, wrestling... that kind of thing. I have no illusions that I will win, but I do enjoy them. Like the majority of those who come to these things, I'm looking mainly for a break in the daily routine, to have a good time, and perhaps widen my experience. My corner of the Reach is rather quiet, and Tourneys draw people from all the seven Kingdoms.
What of you both? I presume you will be in the Joust, Ser Benedict. And you Dunstan? Will you be in the Joust? You have the look of a man who can handle a lance. Tourneys are an excellent opportunity for fame and glory... and quite a bit of money, I understand."

Our Liege Lords surely honored us with this splendid tourney"

And most of the guest Houses have proven to be a fine company indeed. I will be jousting and participating in the meele and hope to bring honor and glory to the Tullisons! There is a slight flicker in Nathan's eyes at the words 'my Lord Father', a momentary pause in the middle of his taking another sip of cider, but his demeanor does not change.
"
Loyalty is bred in the heart and the bone. I am sure the Tullys are very aware of your fervent loyalty. Even so, the mind can be prone to doubt, especially with time and distance. It is never a bad idea to remind good friends just how good a friend you are. I am sure you and Ser Benedict will bring much honor to the Tullisons and the Tullys, no matter how well you do in the Tourney.
I do admire that you are entering the melee. I do not consider myself a coward, but I admit that entering such a dangerous event with so many skilled warriors is something I would not relish. You are a braver man than I.
A drink to both of you!"
smiles Nathan as he raises his cup. "
I wish you both luck in your challenges. You are probably both skilled enough not to need luck, but no matter how skilled you are, a little luck never hurts."
