Daveth well remembered that he owed Maester Forthwind a favour for the maester helping him properly train up his ravens, thus letting House Coldbrook engage diplomatically with other houses at a reasonable speed, even without a maester.

Given how much effort House Bartheld had put into Blackbuckle, Daveth had agreed with the maester that filling him in on all the technical details that he'd glossed over in his presentation would be an adequate payment for his services.

Therefore, Daveth spent time filling in the gaps for the maester. With the Glass candle tears destroyed, Daveth couldn't come up with any part of the information which could help make more, and the investigation was effectively over, so he was free with what he knew, and offered to collaborate with him (and thus let him share in the credit with Daveth and Maester Leopold) in the report to the Citadel.

Great. So the person I'm obligated to changes from a maester to a regent of an embattled house. That's a fantastic improvement.

Better than being obligated to both of them.

Maester Forthwind seemed grateful for the swift repayment of Daveth's debt, alongside relief at the poison's destruction and concern for the Citadel's reputation following Maester Arran's disgrace.

What would Westeros think of Oldtown's Citadel, a bulwark of Green influence?
