Rules wrote:The first 6 rounds of competition are abstracted into 3 jousts.

Run a joust against three opponents: A knight, a hedge knight, and a knight of quality. Injuries and Wounds accumulate as normal, the lessened overall damage to be abstracted away as having recovered between bouts.

EDIT: All three opponents are considered tertiary NCs, and therefore cannot take injuries or wounds.

Run passes until someone falls. If both fall in the same pass, tiebreakers are total lance DoS (against current opponent) and then status. (In the unlikely occurrence that two competitors become mathematically unable to hit each other (through injuries, etc.) it is considered a draw - neither advance, and no ransoms)

If you defeat all three opponents, calculate a score by the following:
1) For each opponent unhorsed in the first pass, +10 points
2) For each opponent unhorsed in the second pass, +5 points
3) For each DoS done (in lance charges), +1 point.
4) For each DoS done to you (in lance charges), -1 point.
5) For each time you were unhorsed, -5 points. (note: only comes into play if there is a simultaneous unhorsing.)
Status breaks ties, Reputation 2nd tiebreaker, Tournaments 3rd, if we somehow get beyond that, order by Baelon's discretion (which may be by random draw).

The top 8 scorers will be our Final 8 and compete in the quarterfinals, run as a traditional single elimination:
Lane 1: 1st vs 8th
Lane 2: 3rd vs 6th
Lane 3: 4th vs 5th
Lane 4: 2nd vs 7th
Semi-finals are the Lane 1 victor vs the Lane 2 victor, etc.

Ransoms: The ransoms in the top 8 are as standard.
Each of the three preceding rounds is in abstract for 2 rounds, so should be worth up to double ransom.
If defeated by the knight: roll 1d2-1.Receive a ransom for that many knights, then must pay ransom for your horse and armor as normal.
If defeated by the hedge knight: roll a 1d2. Receive a ransom for that many knights, then must pay ransom for your horse and armor as normal.
If defeated by the knight of quality: roll a 1d2. Receive a ransom for that many hedge knights and 2 knights, then must pay ransom for your horse and armor as normal.
If defeat all three challenges but NOT in the top 8, Receive a ransom for 2 knights, 2 hedge knights, and 1 knight of quality, then must pay ransom for your horse and armor as normal.
If in the top 8, Receive a ransom for 2 knights, 2 hedge knights, and 2 knights of quality, plus standard ransoms in the quarterfinals and beyond.

EDIT: Ransom amounts:
Per knight: 50 (Rounsey) + 1000 (Splint) = 1050ss
Per hedge: 50 (Rounsey) + 500 (Mail) = 550ss
Per KoQ: 600 (Courser) + 3000 (Plate) = 3600ss

The 400gd prize will be split among the four semifinalists: champion gets 150gd, 2nd place gets 100gd, 3rd &
4th get 75gd each.

Note: though the tourney is assumed to take place over multiple days, per Reader's off-season rules, daily abilities can only be used once.
Top 8 PC Challenges wrote:When all of the scores are tallied, PCs get a special advantage. If an NC is in the top 8, they may be challenged for elimination.
In order of score, PCs not in the top 8 can challenge an NC In the top 8, using the rules above. Whomever loses that joust is removed from the score list.
In other words, as PCs challenge and defeat an NCs, they will move up into position 8. If they lose, they cannot move up as a result of other PCs challenges.
This will continue until the top 8 is all PCs or all PCs not in the top 8 have made or waived their a challenge.

Challenges are an OOC event and other than score position will not affect anything IC, including ransoms from the initial rounds.

EDIT: As there is no mystery to opponent stats in this phase, it seems to me that NO maneuvers should be used by PCs or NCs. Knowing your opponent will always be balanced makes it too easy to manipulate one's rolls.

Note: I went kind of overboard spelling things out, using formatting, and such. Copy it if you want, but as long as all the info is there it's fine. Total score at the top will make it easier to keep the rankings up to date though.

: 5d6k3 17 remains ! 6 Damage

Pass 1: Both hit and stay mounted, Ser Alfred catches 7 damage, the Knight of Quality 6 damage, the joust continues. DoS: 2-2

Pass 2: (here the dice god remembered he hates me, lol) Ser Alfreds hit is marginal while the Knight of Quality hits true. KoQ stays mounted, Ser Alfred is unhorsed and takes a wound to avoid defeat in addition to unhorsement. It looks like he will watch the rest of the tourney from the stands !

A PM discussion has arisen regarding conflicting assumptions about the nameless KoQ being secondary NCs and therefore able to take injuries. With an eye towards keeping this phase simple and towards getting more PCs into the top 8, it has been decided (with Reader approval) that they are tertiary - no injuries. This will result in a minor adjustment to some NC scores.

The top 8 is where the real dramatic action is intended to be, and I hope to see as many of you as possible get there. Very Happy

Should we allow PCs a "
play-in"
qualifier against an NPC top 8 character so they can go out in style?

Ser Jorah is accompanying the Princesses Baela and Rhaena Targaryen themselves! The two young Princesses have been sent to the tournament, prompting much speculation: Does their father Prince Daemon wish to show favour to his supposed bastard, Lord Drakeson? To keep them separate from his new wife, Princess Rhaenyra, who gossips claim is unkind to those not of her bloodline?

Not to spoil things, but trying little nods to various backgrounds where I can. Almost went with Prince Daeron, but he can do a later tourney. As it's yours, the twin Princesses were the best choice. Plus Baela is pretty impressive in canon.

Just separate the rolls with a semicolon, and be sure to state what each roll is in the description.

I count 23 points for Kevan?
12+7+4?

Also, dang, Orokos has not been on your side today. Neutral

EDIT: Missed the unhorsing in Round 2. 12+2+4, still 18.
EDIT2: Awaiting corrections.

Or has it? They were all technically my rolls. Laughing

I have edited. My question is the pass 2 unhorsing +5, limited to the 2nd pass?

It is, so 12+12+1 = 25, as you posted.

Round 1: (Average) Knight 2 dos 12
Passive Ride: 9, stay in saddle 3d6k2, Attack 7d6k3, health 9, AR 7, Damage 7
Jorah : 8d6k4 22 3 DOS
: 5d6k3 14

: 7d6k3 16 – hits shield, but unhorsed 1 dos
No chance of staying on horse

No damage to Jorah
The young knight felt exulted that his first ride would be against a member of the Kingsguard. This was short lived as Ser Jorah practically rode through him.

Round 2: Hedge Knight – 1dos 11
Passive Ride: 12, stay in saddle 3d6, Attack 7d6k3, health 9, AR 5, Damage 8
: 8d6k4 17 2 dos
: 5d6k3 13

: 7d6k3 13 – 1 dos
: 3d6 13

16 damage means needing injuries and falls from horse unconscious

Again, his foe strikes his shield, but Jorah’s strike is too powerful for him and he is propelled from his horse

Round 3-1dos, unhorsed, – 4 points –so 27
Round 3: Knight of Quality
Passive Ride: 14, stay in saddle 5d6k3, Attack 9d6k4, health 12, AR 10, Damage 8
: 8d6k4 18 1 DOS
: 5d6k3 10 - unhorsed

KOQ
: 9d6k4 23 2 dos
: 5d6k3 9 6/12 health remaining

Using a DP to increase my attack to 2 DOS and knock both of us off our horses and I win with 1 injury, with opponent unconscious

Ser Jorah
Passive Ride 14, stay in saddle 5d6k3, Attack 9d6k4, health 12, AR 11 or 12, Damage 9

Finally finished calculating my points after the first 3 trash enemies. I'm going to challenge Lord Mallister.

@Ser Jorah
I'm seeing that the Round 1 knight hit you for 1 DoS?
Need a TN 9 Ride test to determine if Round 1 is 11 points or 6.

Round 3...
The KoQ's fall would not knock him out as he took no damage from your 1 DoS (9 Damage vs 10 AR).
The KoQ takes 11 damage in the fall, leaving 1 health before defeat.
At current you would go for another pass, with Ser Jorah injured and going in with -6 points. Not great.
It might be better to spend that DP on the KoQ's attack: no one takes damage, no one falls.
You would be going into Pass 2 with 0 points, much better than the -6.

@ Ser Loreia
Love the enthusiasm, but we'll be doing challenges once we have all the initial scores. Someone might defeat Lord Mallister before you have a chance to.
