(OOC: For those who don't know, the collective noun for ravens is an 'unkindness'. I love collective nouns. Very Happy

I'm not expecting anyone else to join, but if someone wants to make a running joke of distracting Daveth from research, go ahead.)

Having left the Blackthornes behind, Daveth began his own search. However, while what he sought was hopefully not so obscure, the library was no less large, and there was now only one of him looking. Hmmm. If I can persuade a maester who knows these shelves to help me, my search could go much quicker. Or maybe even a clerk. They would know where everything is. Wouldn't they?

(OOC: Reader, do I need any kind of roll to find the 'right' person? Basically, someone not hideously overworked and stressed who looks like they're familiar with this library. And literate. A maester would be ideal, since they'd almost certainly have knowledge of the subject, but I'm prepared to slum it in exchange for actually getting assistance.)

Maester Medrick, House Tully's famed old advisor, was occupied with preparations for the coming events.

However, a harassed middle-aged scribe scuttles around the library, occasionally offering an opening by pausing for breath or rearranging books in some arcane order.

{OOC: simple intrigue TN (9) to get the attention of House Tully's scribe, imaginatively known as Pate the Scribe]

Wow. That is utterly terrible. I may want to spend a destiny point to +1B that, but before I do, do I have any idea as to how hard it would be to find the information I'm after unaided? I mean, I imagine it wouldn't be as hard as what we were after before, and I'm pretty good at studying, so it might not be worth it.)

Pate the Scribe is far too busy and far too important to help a grubby Northerner, but isn't aggravated enough to kick Daveth out.

[OOC: Same difficulty - 6 Tests at TN 12 - not the worst roll to use up your bad luck on!]

Daveth decides they're probably having a pretty stressful day, what with the opening of the tournament. He'll try and look himself this time, and try again to ask for help next time, when hopefully they'll be less busy.

: 4d6 14 (1/6 successes)

By proceeding in a methodical manner, he manages to make about as much progress alone as he did with the Blackthornes. After a couple of hours, he realises that he really has to go if he doesn't want to miss the Queen's arrival. So, with a light step, and with a satisfied feeling of having made noticeable progress towards his goal, he steps out of the library, blinking, into the light.
