[D8, Early Evening] Champions' feast Empty [D8, Early Evening] Champions' feast

Post by Reader Mon Jul 13, 2015 12:05 pm

Champion's feast
The Champion's feast is a lively enough event already, with guests boasting of the deeds they have achieved or flattering others to nurture new allies. Some of the boasts are grand indeed, but all are soon to be upstaged by the entrance of Princess Rhaenyra's fool, Mushroom.
The dwarf fool makes a grand entrance, tumbling in to the hall with a great "
HARUMPH HAROO!"
, displaying admirable agility and volume, given his physical limitations.
He then plants his hands on his hips and thrusts his groin forward, his private parts mercifully, but comically, concealed by an enormous toadstool mushroom codpiece.
Mushroom nods, seemingly satisfied with his arrival, then seizes on likely looking targets...
- Clutching his Mushroom-codpiece crotch: "
There's many here that this should be affixed to, and the key thrown away. But few who could fill it half so well!"

- A tuneful reworking of "
The Bear and the Maiden fair"
, but with a twinned tower and a poor defenceless blackened wood.
- Holding his nose and parading back and forth in front of Lord Tully: "
Fish scales shine brightly in the waters, but scales on an old fish may not be as bright as they appear at a distance, I know, I know. But gentle Mushroom finds the smell of old fish drives him away from inspecting matters more closely."

- "
Lord Tullison - the valour of your brave knights is most uncommon. And Lord Tullison himself finds our noble ladies too common and his common ladies most uncommon!"

- "
Lord Coldbrook! Said to be a martial man, not suited to political games! Yet mayhap he is the true master - praised twice over for creating banditry then having his noble Ser Jorah cut off its head!"
At this he picks up a sausage and threatens Ser Jorah with it. "
Beheading me will not be enough for your noble knight to triumph."
He leers at ladies Gwyneth and Corrine. "
My blood has all rushed to my larger head."

Princess Rhaenyra laughs loudly with delight at her fool's broader japes, but in among the ribaldry and common humour, Queen Alicent raises a smile or two at the delicate worldplay Mushroom weaves in to his crowdpleasing antics.

Participants: as many per house as desired.
Challenge:
Will (Courage/Dedication) TN9
Persuasion/Deception (Any) TN 12 - given the unsually relaxed atmosphere created by Mushroom, there are fewer consequences than normal to unusual speciality choices.

Consequences: Score = (Will roll x2)+Persuasion/Deception (Any) roll
Highest score = +1 glory, shame one NPC by turning Mushroom's ire against him, your Green/Black vote counts double.
All PCs who pass both rolls - vote for Green/Black, highest total votes = +1 to faction score.
All PCs who pass both rolls - vote to shame a second NPC by turning Mushroom's ire against him, or the same NPC to deepen their shame.
Failed Will roll - an NPC of mutual agreement has his/her disposition towards you lowered by one step.

[D8, Early Evening] Champions' feast Empty Re: [D8, Early Evening] Champions' feast

Post by Yoren longshore Mon Jul 13, 2015 12:59 pm

Yoren is shocked by the grotesque appearance of the fool, but gamboling has never hurt anyone and Yoren only thanks R'hllor that his family is not present, after all killing the kings fool would be bad manners... Yoren keeps his composure at the face of the clown but he is so flabbergasted that any glib replies flees his tongue and he is left standing, stoically, but mute. About a minute after Mushroom has left he comes up with a brilliant return, but by that time the Fool is long gone and Yoren asks himself: Who is really the fool, the man carving a living for playing stupid, or the people enjoing this cheap entertainment?
The rest of the evening feels a little off to Yoren, but he counts himself blessed that none of his familymembers was present, their coffers are strained as it is...

"
And who do we have here!' crows Mushroom. "
Is it not the bold of the bold, Ser Jon Roxton! Rumor has it, you found a new sheathe for that legendary weapon of yours."

Ser Jon rolled his eyes indulgently and Nathan smiled. "
Are you surprised good Mushroom. Surely a formidable weapon deserves a scabbard worthy of it."

Mushroom grasped his codpiece and stroked it lovingly. "
But what shall men like me do now?"

"
Fear not my friend."
grinned Nathan. "
A dagger is just as useful as a longsword if you know how to use it - often more so. I have known many small men in my time..."
Nathan leaned over to gaze into the dwarfs eyes, "
Although none so short."

[OOC: amusing post - more of this kind of IC comedy fun in this scene for those comfortable with it. Shaming Mushroom very much encouraged - creative idea!]

"
Ho ho there's a fat man! Are you not too big for your britches there your holiness the Septon! Or are you too busy chasing after others holes to worry about your own?!"
With a mocking sneer the small dwarf does a tumble and lands solidly on his feet in a three point stance, then straightens quickly and sticks out his "
mushroom cap"
and quickly covers his behind. "
Here m'lord here is a little shroom to nibble on, just stay away from my cave"
And with a wicked grin he tumbles away again.

"
Tell me little fool, come close, there is something I would like to tell you,"
as mushroom waddles up to the Septon Arlyn leans close to his ear and whispers "
Have you ever heard of the Furious Frey? I hear many interesting things about his endeavors and exploits, Perhaps you can shed some light on him as well."
And with a jovial wink The Septon pats the fools misshapen head and gives an exaggerated non-push that allows the fool to react in an acrobatic hand stand.

(Total: 36. Black support.)

Corrine has little trouble getting Mushroom's attention, after his overtly lewd... appreciation... of her. This affords her a little word in his ear about something he may wish to jest about.

"
Not right away, or it'll be obvious that it was me. But take that blackguard down a peg or two, good Mushroom,"
she instructs him silkily, tipping her wine cup to him as he pirouettes away, grinning.

When Mushroom eventually reaches Ser Theomore, he strokes his chin in mock-thoughtfulness;

"
Ser Theomore must be ever so brave, and not at all afraid of the Furious Frey, since he deflowered his sister! Did you win her in one of your crooked coin tosses, Ser?"

Post by Dunstan Tullison Tue Jul 14, 2015 1:14 am

Dunstan loved Mushrooms jokes, those about him a bit less, but he sure did laugh when he jested about others. Besides laughing he didn't do much, no matter how much he tried he could not tried to think of a word that rhymes with Furious.

"
And Ser Benjen is not Furious but rather... ha.."
he remained silent.

Ellie laughs along with Mushroom's jests and when she attempts to redirect his heckling advances, falls short of words or a worthy target. Standing with her mouth agape.

Mushroom fires one more shot at the young girl before moving on of his on volition. "
My dear you are making some of the men in here uncomfortable and perhaps a few ladies."
He gently pushes her chin up closing her mouth.

She blushes bright red but maintains what composure she has left.

Gwyn takes Mushroom's jests with laughter and even playfully takes mocking seductive poses.

Later, when she has a moment to find the dwarf's ear, she urges him with a wicked grin to take Frey to task for his terrible deeds.

Theomore takes the barb with an amused smile, little lady, you should leave this sort of games to those who can destroy you should they play for real. He resists the urge to look at Corrine, it would not do to make the riposte too obvious, he needed to play mushrooms game though, she had forced his hand in that, but best keep that little detail to those who already in the know. "
Come now, there is only one lady here so desperate for affection that she would so easily award a kiss, and we both know who that is!"

As Mushroom struts past him, Theomore drops a little remark about the frustrated frey and the women he makes pay, concealing that words are uttered behind what to most appears to be a silent toast of appreciation of his wit.

OOC: Rolls are further up in thread, but it suits the dynamics of the thread to have the IC here.

[ooc: are you able to justify Theo automatically knowing who it came from? Seems a bit psychic, since she made a point of not having Mushroom say it right away. He'd have had other interactions in-between. I'm prepared to roll (and potentially fail) Deception, if it would add verisimilitude.]

[OOC: Coin toss stuff was in public and people gossip, but various options here.
- Deception roll by Corrine or passive Deception by Corrine (with +3 bump for intermediary) against Theo's awareness.
- Theomore just to jump to conclusions IC and Corrine to use the fact that others were present and people gossip as a plausible smoke screen.

- Looks like you two are on these lines anyway on resolving it between you, so carry on, but call me in if you ned a referee! - side thread if you want to have an IC discussion to make my tallying up in this thread easier? Smile ]

[Coin toss was public, but the fact that it was "
crooked"
is a pretty clear signal to Theo that Corrie or someone she talked to is Mushroom's informant, which he finds likely to be someone close to her. Plus, he does need to act on his first hunch in order to shoot off a reply to Mushroom quick enough to deflect the accusation, it's probably a lot more evident who he's singling out here than Theo would like, but chalk that up with the need to be hasty.]

[D8, Early Evening] Champions' feast Empty Re: [D8, Early Evening] Champions' feast

Post by Baelon Drakeson Fri Jul 31, 2015 5:03 am

Baelon laughs heartily at the diminutive jester... then Mushroom decides to turn on the melee champion.

Jumping up on the table in front of Ser Baelon, Mushroom exclaims: "
Ser Baelon, teach me to fight! I think I do something like this?"
Mushroom pulls the sausage that he had taunted Lord Tomas with out of his belt like drawing a sword. Grabbing a nearby platter - dumping it's contents unceremoniously on the floor in the process - Mushroom holds the platter like shield out far in front of him while leaning back as far as his flexible body can, waving the sausage about at Baelon.

"
Aye,"
Baelon responds with a grin, "
you seem to have the basics down. Perhaps I should take you for a squire, and teach you to be the best knight in the land under four feet tall!"

"
Squire! Pfah! I should be giving you lessons!"

"
Oh really, then take this!"
Baelon grabs a sausage of his own from a nearby platter, and with four quick strikes knocks the platter to floor, sends the sausage flying across the room into Lady Alysanne's lap, smacks the fool's codpiece, then shoves the sausage into Mushroom's mouth. Amidst uproarious laughter, the fool 'falls' off the table and staggers about the room acting out a melodramatic death scene, the sausage still protruding from his mouth. Ending in front of Ser Lorent Marbrand, he spits the sausage out. "
Ser Lorent, have you any ointment for my wound? You must keep the Maesters busy all the time making ointment. Tell me, where did you stick your tree"
he grabs his codpiece with typical lewdness "
that now it burns all the time?"
