[D8,MM] Bookwyrms III (open)
After his small bit of success due only to Daveth, Ben knows he must put more effort into his search. He has drug Ellie from bed and hoped Corrine was able to make it. Pate seemed eager to aid his lovely bride for some reason. He smiled at the thought.
(OOC:If Ellie and Ben put in two slots can they gain extra test die? If so how many?)

Corrine enters the library in a swish of dove grey skirts, her raven dark hair in a single long braid down her back. She smiles at Ben &
Ellie;
"
Good morning, you two. Still looking for that elusive book, I see. Are you sure it exists?"
[ooc: Corrine's LM is taken, so can't use 2 slots. Sorry.]

Re: [D8,MM] Bookwyrms III (open)
Ben smiles affectionately, embracing Corrine formally. "
Thank you for rising so early to aid me."
Ellie throwing formality to the wind pulls Corrine into a large hug. Stepping back she yawns wide and wipes the sleep from her eyes with the back of her hand. "
Yeah."
Her head snaps to Ben. "
Thanks for getting up so early."
Smiling back to Corrine she finishes. "
At least you had a choice."
(OOC: Corrine can score Pate's help MM and Ben and Ellie will double down.)

Corrine sneaks a kiss onto Ben's cheek as he embraces her, and Ellie's quick bear hug makes her laugh amusedly, ruffling Ellie's hair affectionately.
"
Perhaps I should have another word with our friend, Pate. I will try not to be so distracting this time."

"
Yes Pate has taken a shine to you."
Ben smiles playfully. "
You can be very charming. Perhaps it is how beautiful you look in here among all this knowledge."
Ellie stands shaking her head at her brother.

With a mischevious grin, Corrine sashays off to find Pate, and once again uses her charm to gain his help in looking for Ben's book.

An old man with a wrinkled face and a long white beard stalks the shelves of the library. The maester walks with a cane, and around the neck of his black robe is a chain interwoven with links of many different metals - common and black iron, copper, silver, steel, bronze and gold, among others.
Seeing younglings smiling at each other and looking at the shelves with blank faces and probing hands, he waves lightly at them, and calls out, trying not to be too obtuse or intrusive. "
Good morning to you! Looking for a particularly elusive volume today?"
A smile touches his lips.

"
Good morning, Maester. We are indeed hunting for an elusive volume. If I may be so bold, I do not recognise you. Might I ask your name and which House you serve?"

Hearing Corrine's voice Ben looks over from the dusty shelf he is perusing. "
Hello, Maester. I believe the book moves a night when the lights are out."
He laughs at thought of Pate moving the book on him everyday just to keep Corrine coming back.

My, and I thought I was being straightforward here!"
The maester chuckles. "
I am Colton, my Lady. And though I am at a leave at this moment, as the Citadel is working on a transition, I will soon be joining the Tullisons at Mountain’s Reach."
He offers a nod, signaling the end of his answer.
"
What exactly are you searching for, if I may be so bold? I could help with that."
Colton blinks at her, then gives a meaningful glance at the shelves.

Oh, young Ser, some books are known to do that. We have whole rooms at the Citadel that seem to disappear overnight, when they think no one is watching."
He chuckles again, gesturing a mysterious disappearance.

Ah, I see. Well, welcome then,"
Corrine replies cheerily. "
Lord Dunstan Tullison is a good man. We are looking for a book on swordsmanship that my betrothed wishes to study. There is uncertsinty about its exact title and whereabouts, which is making it hard to find."

"
Yes much uncertainty. I am Ser Benedict Blackthorne, sworn sword and cousin to Lord Dunstan Tullison. You say Maester Haelis is living?"
Ben looks quite puzzled. He had just bonded with the young man and hoped to foster their relationship

Some gravity dawns on Colton's face, but it is quickly gone. "Benedict Blackthorne wrote:"

I am to substitute Maester Haelis, yes. He will enter the service of another House, though I know not which."

The maester nods. "
Well, I would be happy to help you, my lady. I need but a little information first."
He raises a fist.
"
First, more specific information on this book."
He puts up a finger. "
Is it a manual of fencing techniques? A treaty on hilts? Who penned it - when? I understand if you do not have all the answers, but anything will help."
"
And second, your name, fair lady."
A second finger rises. "
After all, I have given you mine, have I not?"
He smiles.
((OOC: What sort of check is necessary to search for this book?))

"
It is a history of long blades."
Ben pats the longsword at his hip. "
One can never have enough knowledge. We must always strive to become better."
(ooc: Knowledge TN 12 each DoS gives a point. I must reach 6 I currently have 3. I think. )

"
I am Lady Corrine Marsten, Maester,"
Corrine replies, with a little curtsey. "
Ser Benedict here is my betrothed, and the charming, freckle-faced young lady there is his sister, Lady Ellien. Our assistance has been enlisted here, more for our ability to charm information out of the scribes than our own knowledge of fencing manuals,"
she chuckles confidentially, after first checking she is out of Pate's earshot.

The maester bows considerably before her. "Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:"

Lady Corrine Marsten, of course. Your reputation does you no credit, my Lady - you surpass it by far."
He bows to the Blackthornes as well. "
It is a pleasure to meet the three of you. I must say, though I am no scribe, that you are succeeding in charming me into service without much effort."
He returns Corrine's chuckle.
Maester Colton looks apprasingly at Benedict, as if seeing the man for the first time only now. He then nods with a satisfied expression. "Benedict Blackthorne wrote:"
It is a history of long blades."
Ben pats the longsword at his hip. "
One can never have enough knowledge. We must always strive to become better."
It is not often we see swordsmen strive to improve their skills on the library, Ser Benedict. That is worthy of praise, I must say, though I also confess I've never felt most of the able knights I've seen lacked reading when they fought."
He smiles enigmatically, not clearly complimenting Ben, but also not making little of him.
"
Now,"
he turns to the shelves, "
let's see if I can help you. Each library is different than the other, you see, but they all follow a pattern... moreover, I might have an inkling of what book you are probably searching for. There are only so many tomes dedicated to the history of long blades..."

Ellie curtseys to the maester with a cheerful smile, glad to have help. This stuffy old library was not where she wanted to be first thing in the morning. "
Good morning, Maester Colton. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for your assistance. My brother seems to think no one has anything better to do with their morning."
