"
She's very sharp, that one,"
Loreia comments, looking Baelon in the eye with well-meaning seriousness - mayhaps a touch awkward in retrospect. "
And kind. I think she deserves this as much as you."
"
Seems everyone's movin' up 'cause of this tourney. What about you, Dyana? What's next for the remaining lady of Marsten?"
She asks, tacking this on at the end bit swift. Of course, it only seems that way because most of the people she met are nice, who happen to be getting exactly what they want.

"
She is, and she does."
He seems like he is about to say more, but stops himself.

Ben obviously lets Baelon answer before he smiles and replies. "
She is much more cunning then even she knows and certainly deserves a position to let her flourish."

Ben gives Dyana a friendly smile. "
Hopefully she will be prominently at the head of the Marsten men against the clans and the peoples shield there after."

Corrine spots Luecian Longbow across the room, and excuses herself to approach him. She greets him with a curtsey and a congenial smile;
"
Greetings, ser. I am Lady Corrine Marsten. I wanted to compliment your performance in the archery contest."

Thank you m'lady, Luecian LongBow at your service. Though we didn't win, Lyanna and I had a good day there. Surely we did."
He chuckles softly and then seems to recall his present company. He clears his throat and replies "
Have you an interest in archery m'lady?"

"
Indeed. I am very keen on archery. I was stood not more than twenty paces from you during the contest. It was I who competed under the White Hart Hunter moniker. I was defeated one round before yourself, I believe. But I can live with three rounds on my first try,"
she added, with a good-natured chuckle.

Luecian's pupils expand a bit in surprise as he takes in her words. Once they sink in, he smiles even greater and shakes his head, "
The mystery White Hart Hunter...I never would have guessed it, not even in a hunnerd years!"
He laughs again and replies "
That was fine job m'lady, a fine job indeed! Let me offer my compliments on your own showing then. I'm always refreshed to see nobles and ladies that value archers and a noble lady... well that's a grand thing!"

Thank you, Luecian,"
Corrine grins. "
I took advantage of the fact that a mystery contestant is usually assumed to be male. I have learned archery in secret for years. This is the first time I've done it publicly. Now that my identity is revealed, I expect my mother and septa will be scandalised, but that may prove to be part of the fun. Allow me to get you a drink, ser."

To fun and fortune then,"

"
So, you mentioned a Lyanna. Your good lady, I presume?"

Lyanna's my favorite bow's name m'lady. No doubtin she's been good to me, but she's no lady herself. Though she has coloring and curves that a few ladies just might envy...present company excluded of course."
He smiles at her a bit slyly, his eyes perhaps drifting a bit here and there for the briefest moment but quickly returning to form. He then takes a long extended gulp of his ale.

Oh, I see! How silly of me!"

I thought you meant your wife! But thank you for the compliment. I did notice you had a fine bow. So, was it just the promise of riches and glory thst brought you to the tourney?"

"
Aye, Mostly riches and glory m'lady, perhaps sprinkled with a bit of opportunity and fun for good measure."
Feeling as if he's being watched, Luecian looks around for a moment and notices a table of lords and ladies in the distance across the bar, looking intently in their direction.
"
I've enjoyed our talk thoroughly m'lady, surely never thought to be talking to a lady such as yourself about archery and such. But I fear your lordly friends and fellow ladies must feel deprived of such splendid company as yourself if their glances serve as any indication. Give a greeting to each for me, and remember the name Luecian Longbow with fondness and respect, as I will surely recall m'lady's likewise."
He gives another awkward bow towards the end of his speech and awaits the ladies response.

"
Perhaps my betrothed is worried ypu are poised to steal me away,"
she laughs. "
I would not want you to have aspersions cast upon your character. I shall leave you to your ale, and bid you a good evening. I hope we shall meet again, Master Luecian."
She curtsies, and returns to her place at the table.

Is that one of the Dulver men from the archery contest?"

Indeed. His name is Luecian Longbow. Seems a nice fellow. You ought to be more careful of how you stare at strange men who talk to me though. I think you frightened the poor soul. He noticed that people here were looking at him. He feared 'lordly reprisals',"
she teases him, playfully.

"
That won't do. I do not want that kind of reputation. I can not hold it against him if he has good taste."
Ben gives Corrine a quick wink as he rises a little unsteadily.
"
Luecian you say?"
Turning to others at the table he gives a curt bow. "
If you fine people will excuse me, I have to straighten out a misunderstanding. "

Yes. Luecian Longbow. I think he's a Dulver. Be gentle, my dear,"

Re: [Day 9, EN] Last night (Open)
Ben approaches the Dulver archer with his most charming and disarmed smile. His face a bit flushed from drink and his eyes glossed with an alcohol induced cheer. "
Master Luecian, congratulations on a fine showing the other day."
He profers his hand not holding his drink. "
Ser Benedict Blackthorne. I would like to apologize if my gaze brought you any distress. Its my lady's"
He inclines his head to indicate Corrine. "
first trip to fine establishment such as the Huntsman. Her safety is of the utmost importance to myself."

Luecian grasps the handle on his tankard tightly as he notes the same knight he spotted earlier approach him. Feeling a bit uncertain, he takes a deep gulp and empties the tankard, Well whatever happens I'd rather be drunk when it does. As he set the now empty tankard down, he hears the knight's friendly greeting and notes what seems to be a genuine smile on his face and the extended hand. A quick press of noticeable relief shows in his manner and face as he gives the hand a over-eager shake. "
Phew many thanks good ser, and no need to be apologizing to meself. Your lady be a good and kind one and I'm reckoning quickly that yourself be the same. But for a moment earlier when I saw your glance, I heard me ole grandpappy's voice and some advice he gave me fore he passed."

Ben nods deeply his smile flattening a bit. "
Sorry for your loss. Their wisdom often rings true. I hope in this case I am the exception."
Ben downs his drink and signals the barmaid to fill up Luecian's empty tankard and his on.

As the barmaid fills up Ser Benedict's tankard and then his own, Luecian flashes her his best lushy smile. She seems to return his smile but it felt a bit half-hearted to his estimation. Oh well many fish in the stream and such. He focus back on the friendly knight and says "
Much obliged Ser for the kind words and the ale. I feel dang certain you might be the exceptor myself."
. Luecian pauses and slurs a bit when continuing "
See no offense intended good ser but me grandpappy told me, boy I served a few different lords and met many a knight in my day, and I always figured lords and knights were a bit like snakes. There's all different kinds and when you find yourself near one, its best to be extra cautious till you know which kind it be."
Luecian finishes his story with a hearty laugh and continues "
I reckon you're the good kind Ser. Much appreciation for the drink and me own congrats on your own showing in the joust, I heard many a drinker describe your joust with the Beast of Bracken.I fear I missed a good one from their tales."

Ben's head tilts back in contemplation, his eyes narrowing. "
Wise. And may I add to continue that caution as snakes are masters of camouflage and may lead you to a false safety."
Leaning back in his eyes dart about as if looking for easedroppers. "
But don't go around telling to many folks I am good man. It want do any good if the other snakes in the pit think me harmless."
He laughs at his own ramblings.

Luecian eyes widen a bit in surprise as he considers the knight's word. "
Ser knight is a rightly wise fellow. That's advice me grandpappy would surely agree with."
He laughs lightly and winks at Ser Bendict before continuing."
Not to worry though Ser, Luecian here will keep your secret don't you be doubtin!"
Luecian finishes his drink before giving a small yawn and continuing."
Good ser, I'm thinkin' I fell a bit too far in me cups this evening, do be pardoning meself please. Dang Septon mayhaps was right this once when he said I started drinking too early this morn, but in me own defense who wouldn't be drawn to drink here when they name the place after ya!"
He follows his words with a large guffaw of laughter and smiles drunkenly. "
Would ya be excusing me Ser Benedict, in one of me rare wise moments I'm thinking seeking a bed would be best, me own or a willing lasses I care not! Laughing again he waits for the knight to respond.
