[D1, LM]Baiting the Beast[Closed]
Getting into Lord Bracken's solar after the ceremony was quite easy, curious how slaying five men in personal combat, unhorsing a man of the kingsguard and winning some side-competitions at a tourney suddenly made everyone think that you had something worth saying. Not that Theomore was about to complain.
"
I happened to pass by Pennytree on the way here, my lord. I don't think what I found in the vicinity is to your liking. Others will, too, some already have, I think."

And if ever there was a man to be impressed by feats of arms it was Lord Bracken!
Still, Lord Bracken was initially wary, trying to determine exactly what Ser Theomore was hinting at.
"
Little and less that happens lately has been to my liking Ser Theomore, but I suppose I can't stand toe to toe with Lord Benjicot and settle matters..."
Lord Haig's reference to the young Lord Blackwood skirted the fine line between humour and disrespect.

Re: [D1, LM]Baiting the Beast[Closed]
"
Ser Myles perhaps?"
Theomore quips, Raff silently besides him "
But I suppose this feud has moved beyond Black and Bracken now, my lord, it's in the hands of others now. A few with blood ties to Raventree, none to here, curiously enough. And with expectations of others weighting heavy down upon whatever decision they will need to take. Ah, the glory of politics."
"
If you'll forgive my theatrics for a moment, my lord, may I relate part of the conversation I had with Ironrod at my most recent to King's Landing?"
Theomore very much liked that little snippet. "
It's a concept that prince Daemon devised when he was master of laws, suppose you have two prisoners, you are fairly certain that they both took part in some crime, but you have no witnesses. Now, you separate them, and give each the same choice, if both deny everything, they will be beaten bloody on Visenya's Hill over some pretext. If one confesses, he will go free while the other is hanged, if both confess, they both go to the wall. The trick to it is that most of the time both will confess where they otherwise would not."
A devious smile forms on Theomore's lips.
"
I will not lie to you, my lord, my nephew is where I imagine you expect him to be, and he is under considerable pressure to be biased in these affairs, nor does he have any incentive not to be. But what if that could be changed? None would doubt the words of Lord Dunstan should he speak against what they must know is the interest of his own house. But if the interests of his own house are considerably less clear than they seem, well, who knows what the outcome might be? "
OOC:
Objective: Maybe not for all to see, hmm?
Status can't beat 27
ID 13 (+2 on first round)
Composure 9
Disposition: Indifferent
Round 1: : 5d6k4 14 I'm presuming that he didn't massively improve his 2D deception since last encountered.
Dices: : 9#6d6k5+2 19 21 18 18 20 28 19 17 25
Resolution: Steadily chipping away until Bracken must take frustration on round six...and then the 4 DoS on round seven wins the intrigue outright.
Theomore is kinda straddling the line between bargain and convince here, but dice pools and influence are the same for both techniques.

Re: [D1, LM]Baiting the Beast[Closed]
Lord Haig Bracken listens, drumming the table with his powerful hands as he mulls Ser Theomore's words, his respect for the man overcoming his impatience at flowerly language.
"
Marriage is always in the realm's interest. My daughter is an adornment to the court, but House Bracken would gladly allow her qualities to grace another's hall. By such, interest that do not appear aligned may ultimately become entwined."
Lord Bracken guffaws at his own play on words, unbecoming of a man speaking of pawning off a daughter for political advantage, but such is a woman's fate. Further talk follows on a similar fate for his son, but it's clear he favours the boy.
"
Further, there are matters of discipline to be attended to, as you alluded to earlier. Let us tour the barracks this evening and see that the men are presenting themselves in such a manner so as not to disgrace House Bracken."
[OOC:
- He's very willing to marry off his daughter Lady Kerry Bracken or his heir Ser Wyll Bracken in exchange for House Tullison's or Theomore's support in negotiations. Not only will a marriage happen, but a handsome dowry and future military support is promised, varying according to how favourable the treaty ultimately is.
- Another matter touched on above and in your personal forum will be handled by Lord Bracken and Ser Theomore offstage ]
