Not castle smell, not man smell.

The beast initially snuffled away from the queer odour in search of reassuring smells and guardsmen with spare bones or branches to throw, but something drove it - willed it - back.

*Sniff* Sniff* Sniff, Sniff *

There, near the back of the steel-men hut.

Pawing, gripping, the beast found its uncommon prey, following the strange scent, an unusual cloth between its jaws.

Not right taste, not right mind.
