[D2, EA] A different quarry... (Loreia's hunt party)
Baelon wrote:Sidling his horse up next to Lord Haig before the hunt, Baelon tips his head towards Ser Wyll Bracken's hunting party, and in particular it's new one-eyed addition.
"
I'd be wary of that one,"
he says "
I don't trust any of these Ironborn, but that one is far more trouble than he's worth. He's a kinslayer, proven so by the Seven - and my sword - in a trial by combat."
He smirks.
"
The last time we fought it cost him an eye. If he causes me any problems, I'll just have to remove the other one.... or maybe something a bit lower.
Like his throat, which I should have done the last time.
"
Well, I must be off, I'm to hunt for House Coldbrook today. Best of luck to you."
[OOC: I spend my three afternoon slots assisting Loreia]
Lord Haig nods in grim understanding at Lord Drakeson's words, although Ser Wyll is less familiar with the bastard lord and does not seem as swayed by the warning.
A third Bracken kicks her horse forward from the back of Haigh's party - his beautiful young daughter Kerry.
"
Lord Drakeson, my father tells me you were of great assistance in Riverrun's hunt, and that your expertise with a boar spear is second only to your prowess in the melee."
A dangerous flutter of eye-lashes follows, considering Baelon's role in the investigation and the wider realm's precarious situation.
"
I hope it would not be an imposition for a young woman to ride alongside you. Dangerous men such as the Sea Wyrm you so adroitly defeated lurk in the woods according to Ser Steffon Vance. My lord father would feel safer if your knightly ardour protected me in the hunt."
A hint of a smile creeps to her lips at the play on words in praise of Baelon's ardour...
[OOC:
Lord Haig's Disposition towards Athelstan deteriorates to dislike. Ser Wyll Bracken's disposition is unmoved.
Side thread initiated for Lady Kerry's intrigue.

My Lord Drakeson, if I may interject for ..."
Trelane is unsure what to call Loreia, "
the good Lady Loreia, there is never any harm building up good relations with your neighbours, lest there is the chance of a blade in the back."
You're startin' to sound like my br--"
Loreia stops herself before she looses an all too familiar term. "
I grew out of the dirt with the rest of the common rabble, boy. Just my name'll do fine. Speakin' of which, there a story behind yours?"
It sounds like it's meant for a girl...
OOC: And that's because it is, I looked it up, lol! Consider this talk of names to precede Kerry joining us.
Loreia eyebrows press up against her forehead, quietly appalled by Lady Kerry's behavior - whereas Trelane appears intrigued, when she looks back toward him. "Ser Jorah Holt wrote:His eyes danced as he saw Lady Kerry Bracken, noting her form, but also some curiousity at her blatent attempts of flirting with Lord Drakeson.
Trelane, why don't you go on ahead an' try to bag some quarry on your own?"
Initiative: probably can't beat, will defer to Baelon

OOC: I can back out at any time if you like, Baelon. I assume intrigue resumes as normal if I do.

Trelane studiously ignored the daggers, though having already gotten under Loreia, he wondered how far he could push it without her wanting to cave his head in.
“Well, I supposed it might be a strange name to a lady of the north. It must be said that it was my mother’s choice. My father chose both of my elder brother’s names, so she insisted that she be allowed to name my sister and I. Maester Cole always likes to tell a story that when I was born, it was in the midst of the worst storm in the Crownlands for twenty years, the entire household were trying to batten down the hatches as it were, all manner of weird occurrences going on in the castle and my mother having to give birth with only the Maester and Septa for company as my father was occupied with a lot of trouble.
She took one look at me and insisted that I be called Trelane;
no argument from anybody was allowed and nor any explanation offered. And good luck getting an answer from her;
she is forged like Valyrian steel;
sharp and a will as hard.”

She loses some awareness as she listens. She didn't expect there would be an explanation as lengthy as it turned out to be. "Jorah wrote:Trelane studiously ignored the daggers, though having already gotten under Loreia, he wondered how far he could push it without her wanting to cave his head in.

Trelane looked at Loreia with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
"
Oh, I never said that,"
he cheekily responded, disappearing off into the brush, Trapper Jon raising his eyes in exasperation, a quick shrugged apology to Loreia and off into the brush after the young noble.

The two hunters worked well togther, stalking through the woods, following a young buck. Without nary a sound, the two dropped the creature easily and dragged it back to the main group.

Will actually be to my 5th roll (if we get that far), as you are after me in initiative order. It might not make a difference, but I appreciate the thought.Loreia wrote:First 9: : 9#2d6 6 6 4 9 7 6 7 7 3

Baelon wins, thanks to being both Lucky and lucky on Initiative.
Outcome: Standard Charm and Kerry assists with the hunt;
more importantly, Baelon stays faithful.
If Kerry had won initiative, it would have been over even faster...

Re: [D2, EA] A different quarry... (Loreia's hunt party)
Lady Kerry was charmed by the dashing Lord Drakson.
Perversely, his demure refusals and attempt to involve her in the hunt only seemed to deepen her affection for him. What had begun as something else: a game, a mission or an idle fancy would perhaps grow in to something more.
She knew the woods around the Warrior's Seat well, but by the time she returned to the castle her handmaidens would know at least as much of her growing fondness for Lord Drakeson...
[OOC: Lady Kerry Bracken moves to amiable and assists in the hunt.

Shouldn't the above be Lady Kerry's first two roll totals? The first being 4DoS.

the -1D dropped the first one to 19 - still enough to force me to take a frustration as well, though that is a lot better than the 4 DoS forcing me to take all three of my frustration...
I note too that Kerry's rolls used the "
r1"
ending, so her numbers were possibly a bit inflated.
