Not long before a certain merchant was about to pack up his stall for the evening, he was approached by a certain unassuming man. A man you would not look at twice, a man you would find it difficult to remember or point out in a crowd even if you did. This man would offer him good silver if he were to describe such other persons as he may have told certain things to, about the raids on Dornish caravans. A man can sometimes can be rather persuasive, especially a man with a heavy purse and a sharp looking smallsword who he seems fond of fingering, perhaps on purpose? Perhaps he does it without knowing? Who can say. A simple merchant with a pretty young wife and a babe on the way would be quite inclined to take the silver rather than such chances.

Alas, he ran afoul of some broken men fleeing from Ser Theomore's campaign of pacification to the north, did they know that the merchant they killed had a purse on him with good silver in it? Did they know that he left a pretty young wife thick with child? Was it merely coincidence that a merchant that might have delivered a testimony against House Bracken ended his life at the hands of men that like as not would never return from the south after departing the village before the gates closed for the night?

Only one man remained who might shed some light on such a conundrum, but where did he go?

[OOC: murder most horrid confirmed, as previously discussed via PM.

Anyone with the Pennytree peddlar as a witness no longer has him available, unless I'm missing an old post where protective action was taken]
