Waking the true sea wyrms 126/1
Pyke was, is, and will always be a natural meeting place for Ironborn. Even as it laid on land it had sea surrounding it on all sides, leaving the keep with the constant sound of water splashing at the castle walls. It was more than a capital, it was the very symbol of the ironborns friendly disposition towards the sea. Nobody knew who had first built the castle, it just was there, an impressive feat of engineering left behind for all to be awed by. Yoren had not seen the castle for a long time, and he disturbed himself by thinking more of the military aspects of such a castle than the aesthetics.
Once he is being let in to his place at court and is allowed to speak, he starts:
“In 101 the greenlands adapted one of our customs: the kingsmoot.” Yoren starts slowly, to ensure that he is being heard, knowing fully well that it’s the start that decides if people keeps on listening. “They followed wisely in our footsteps and saw the importance of a strong man ruling the land. They listened to us, and they got to see that our ways was proven to be the best. Everybody was strengthened in the early years of Viserys. However, their kingsmoot told us something else: Strong men is needed to rule. It has been the tradition for millennials. Now, however, some voices wishes to dismiss our long time traditions, trying to snake their way with politics.” Yoren did not need to pretend his disaffection for such matters, and he knew that the other lords present mirrored his feelings. “We live in a time of unrest, and we need to stand together, an ironborn is worth ten greenlanders in a fight, if we all join forces to the right cause then we can return to the days of plenty. If we stand united, the new king will see our loyalty and let us return to freer ways. To days when we could take our saltwives, to days when traditions mattered. The traditions have ruled us for centuries, we can’t let anybody take our traditions away from us, we remember.” Yoren quits his talk to reflect on the mood of the crowd. The men had been pleased, it seemed, and Yoren wanted to move to confines that were more private. A private audience was what he needed, where he could say what he in public could only insinuate. Where arguments could be more specific, where words did not need to be considered as carefully.
*******
Later that evening Yoren is admitted to a private audience with Lord Greyjoy. He bows earnestly to his lord before seating himself: "
What did you think of my comments earlier, my lord?"
He asks his liege after the necessary niceties had been exchanged, which were few in the ironborn court.

Re: Waking the true sea wyrms 126/1
Lord Harald Greyjoy was an old man by now, of similar age to Yoren's father and scarcely in much better health. Men already speculated in tavern and on shipdecks as to who would lead House Greyjoy next - perhaps the famed young reaver Dalton, already making a name for himself although he was still but a boy. Wise men kept their speculation far from Lord Greyjoy's hearing - the Old Kraken could still crush a man who got to close. Crush his house too, if sufficiently irked.

Interesting words Lord Yoren. The Longshore have always had craft to go with their strength, else you would not have survived so long among Green-landers."

"
Craft is temporary, loyalty is what has held us at our places for this long."
Yoren looks warily upon this old man, knowing fully well of his reputation.
"
The only time we have been close to destruction was when my families loyaly was weak. That should never happen again."
Yoren tells him with firm resolve in his voice.

Re: Waking the true sea wyrms 126/1
After a few minutes the two men has reached a better understanding of each other. Even though Harald has lived on a desolate rock for the past decades he is far from a savage. He may not be the most ardent follower of the new times, but Yoren takes to like the old man. This is a liege he can definetely work with, at least until death do they part. Yoren is also intrigued by what the old man tells him on how to deal with the unrest of the seven kingdoms.
