Like risking scandal over a politically inadvisable choice of husband, allow one's cousin to marry a bastard in the middle of negotiations for said cousin to marry a lord. Condemn a few dozen men to be trampled down by sellswords because one did not care to find a better way than the one offered.

Though hardly surprising, Corrine had talked as if she believed he had performed certain indiscretions with Floreta back when lady Aofie had been introduced to Dunstan. Thwarted desire? Not in the sense she implied. Well, he had done at least that thing right.
