What: Grand tourney (Joust, Melee and Archery) to celebrate a double wedding.

Re: [OOC] Information & Participant Signups
I'm considering various non-combat options, will be discussing with Reader when I have time to put ideas down, hopefully this weekend. I just thought it might take some time to accumulate all the interest here, so wanted to get the register up ASAP.

Unfortunately, as much as I want to, Nathan cannot attend. He is unbelievably busy the first few months of 127.

Re: [OOC] Information & Participant Signups
Loreia, as soon as I know what the prizes *are* (I'm currently discussing this with Reader), I'll edit them into the first post. I wasn't just hiding them to be coy.
Nathan, sorry to hear that, but I understand.
And a general note: I'm currently proposing around 6 non-combat events for this tourney to Reader, but am waiting for feedback before saying they definitely exist.

Re: [OOC] Information & Participant Signups
I was under the impressions that the prize amounts (in total) are determined by the size of the tourney (per p123).
Local: 2 Wealth (400gd for joust, 1 wealth (200gd) for each additional event
Regional: 2 Wealth (400gd) for each event
Grand: 5 Wealth (1000gd) for each event
It's up to the organizer to determine how that prize money is distributed among the contestants.
Though I note that that the Bartheld tourney prizes are about 1/10th of that, but he does have a reputation for being tightfisted.

Re: [OOC] Information & Participant Signups
That was the impression I was under, but (a) I want it confirmed before I write it down (b) There's been rule changes about how efficiently you may convert Wealth to coin and (c) I need to know if the non-combat events draw their prizes from the same 'pot', or if they'd do so from the base cost.

Re: [OOC] Information & Participant Signups
I hadn't even considered the exchange rate difference;
Reader didn't have me check it for my tourney prizes (you may note that my tourney prizes add up to 400gd exact).

Re: [OOC] Information & Participant Signups
Baelon I was under the impression that the wealth amount was the cost of organizing and holding the tourney, because I paid the three wealth and the prizes where coming out of Davain's own pockets.

Re: [OOC] Information & Participant Signups
It says specifically wealth for prizes, so you shouldn't have to pay anything out of your own pocket. The only question mark, as Daveth notes, is how much coin that prize will translate into given the new house rule.

Re: [OOC] Information &Participant Signups
I have a character in-progress that would love to take part in the melee and the joust, if Reader and I can finish hammering out details.
Assuming I get the green light from our Lord Narrator and can play, what are the host's rules on squires (albeit senior squires) taking part?

Re: [OOC] Information &Participant Signups
I think that would depend on whom you serve as a squire. I think most knights would be hesitant to throw you into the fire while you're not quite near the end of your training. Given your age group, it's not likely you'll be able to hold your own against the grown-ups. Assuming you suffer no severe injuries, you're more likely to be humiliated. I'll let Reader weigh in on this.
It's very likely you won't be allowed in the joust for...reasons. Story 1 had a squires' melee, I'd love to have one carved out for you to join, but that would be up to Daveth.

Re: [OOC] Information &Participant Signups
Everyone likes mystery knights though, probably shouldn't be an issue if you're fully grown unlike a certain twelve year old that wasn't.

Re: [OOC] Information &Participant Signups
Yup, for bookkeeping purposes, put me down -- either as "Aerion Storm, squire to Ser Harbert Baratheon," or as a mystery knight, if our Lord host wouldn't allow a squire -- for the joust and the melee (and the equestrian, if that requires signing up in advance), please and thanks.
