[OOC]General Information
This is just a thread to put up various information as I think of it.
What's a TP?
Tournament Points. Daveth has tried his darndest for the event to be apolitical and welcoming for all, but that doesn't mean politics won't present itself. This is a major event, and people will be using it to attempt to divine which way the wind is blowing politically. The winner of each contest (martial & non-martial) gains a TP, which they may dedicate to Green or Black (or neither) as they wish. The faction with the most TP at the end of the tourney gains a VP.
Entertainment
Lots of it, with one obvious exception: there's no dwarves. At all.
Participation
I deliberately didn't add any penalties for failure. I hope this encourages people to try things outside their area of expertise.

How much preparation is allowed for the contests? And that would be treated as overall, I'm thinking. Prepare a lot for one event means you have far less time to prepare for others?

Re: [OOC]General Information
Loreia, the only event in which you can prepare in advance to my understanding is the singing. Frankly, I see no reason why people can't maximise their 'time taken' bonus on that roll, it's not being sprung last-minute.
General advisory: The prizes currently listed are provisional, indications of value only. They may change, but are not likely to go down in value.
Don't worry Aerion, still plenty of admin/negotiations going on behind the scenes, you've got time.

Re: [OOC]General Information
For clarification, is it only the Knowledge roll that you can take extra time on, spending more time looking for an appropriate song, or the singing, too?Daveth Coldbrook wrote:Loreia, the only event in which you can prepare in advance to my understanding is the singing. I assumed the former, but can adjust if it is the latter.

How's the Equestrian bit work? Not mechanically (I get that part), but...is there some sort of obstacle course? Posts to ride around, low fences to jump, a straight-away to race along? How's this sort of thing been described in the past?

Re: [OOC]General Information
I assumed it was a show-ring type presentation, a choreographed horse-dance, if you will. Of course, that was just my assumption.
the only other equestrian competition we've had can be found here.

I think you basically have the right of it.

Re: [OOC]General Information
yeah, looking at the last one, I was assuming wrong. Oh well, the only real description I gave was something that could have been done "freestyle" at the end of the course.

Re: [OOC]General Information
Not that I know of. If Daveth figured that out for himself, he didn't tell us. Maybe Reader can do that for us? Obviously there will be Blackwoods and Kytleys there. Myles Blackwood and Kerry Blackwood nee Bracken too, if we're (un)lucky.

Hang on, folks are taking extra time on the knowledge check for singing? Just checking to make sure that's okay before I do it too.

Re: [OOC]General Information
I think that was my fault. I saw "take time allowed" and went full hog without thinking. Made some changes and I think it turned out better for it!

Ah, shoot. I may have messed up too then!
I will revise my singing roll as needed.

Re: [OOC]General Information
I think taking extra time on the knowledge check was allowed just not on the Persuasion check. Luecian took some extra time on the knowledge roll just didn't max it as he likely wouldn't practice quite to that extent for it(1d6 extra time on knowledge roll).
He's been working to better himself! Achieved a personal goal along with some xp gains and benefit changes aimed at making him at least viable in an intrigue but its really still a work in progress He only has 6 dice for Charm though, not persuasion in general

Re: [OOC]General Information
Oh...then I think you may have rolled wrong?
Gwyn for example has Persuasion 4, then 2 dice in Charm. That means she rolls 6 dice, but only keeps the highest 4 dice. The Charm specialty dice are bonus dice, in other words, not test dice.
Wheras you rolled 7 dice but kept 6...which would mean your Persuasion is 6, which is -enormous-.

Are you joking? I can't tell. Famous allows you to keep bonus dice as test in charm.

Gwyn dear.... he's famous. As in the Famous benefit. Like a certain someone else you know who rolls 6d6 Charm rolls?

Re: [OOC]General Information
Oh. I actually didn't know that's what that did.
Well damn.
Okay, thanks! Just wanted to know. I'm starting to think about trying to get some of my core skills up, but it's soooooo expensive.

Huh. Famous looks pretty great. I might have to work on that. Now I just need a bajillion XP, and an excuse to call myself famous. Time to get started.

Arr. I might do it too, except Famous messes with a lot of the 'off camera' stuff Gwyn does.

Re: [OOC]General Information
Luckily, Aerion's a tremendous fan of having attention on him, so he can make a name for himself, carve off a little piece of land somewhere, attain honor and glory, yadda yadda yadda. So yeah, he's already a limelight-seeker, just 'cause he wants to better himself, and being "on camera" all the time is great for that.Gwyneth Drakeson wrote:Arr. Err, being on camera almost all the time. Certain masked parties notwithstanding.

Gwyn -
There are various benefits that can "fake" improving skills and attributes by giving extra test dice, Famous is only one example, albeit a powerful one. It's actually not quite as good as improving attributes for various reasons - it doesn't affect passive values, and may not apply under all circumstances. That's why although I keep 6 on charm, I only get 2 attractive rerolls - that is determined by my actual Persuasion. Same thing with the Influence done with Charm in an intrigue - Even keeping 6 dice I am only doing 4 Influence per DoS. In fact, I think Corrine is actually the better Charmer of the two of us now - I might occasionally get an extra DoS, but 5 Influence per DoS on average is stronger.
Aerion -
Keep playing and both will happen in time.
Famous does have a pesky little drawback if you ever find yourself needing to be stealthy... that's one reason I was extra leery of going to Myr... especially if I could get others caught, too.
Though I did have a thought about being trussed up like Chewbacca, with some of you folks dressed as Myrish "stormtroopers".
