Ser Jon Templeton vs. Ser Reynir of Nutten

For his first tilt Ser Jon had been matched against Ser Reynir of Nutten. Making his way to the lane, Jon rode atop his dapple grey courser. His full plate was polished to a high shine and a tabard bearing the sigil of House Templeton was worn over his armor. His heater shield also bore his House's sigil, with the Seven pointed star at the center making a natural target for opposing jousters to aim at. Saluting his opponent, Jon prepared for the exchange. With a kick of the stirrups Jon was off racing down the lane towards Ser Reynir. As he came within striking distance Ser Jon lowered his lance and adjusted himself to ride high in the saddle. He was hoping to strike hard and true and end the contest on the first pass.

With an aim that stayed true through contact Jon struck the shield of his opponent dead center. As he turned his head to avoid splinters from the tourney lances, Jon thought he saw his opponent rock backwards violently out of his saddle while Jon was able to remain mounted.

Ser Reynir of Nutten lowered his visor spurred his horse into a gallop down the lane. While his lance did make contact with Ser Jon's shield, it was merely a glancing blow. On the other hand, Ser Jon's lance struck true and hard, sending the hedge Knight to back from his saddle into the dirt, defeated.

(OOC: Handle animal check didn't matter since he couldn't survive the blow. Ransom includes Splint Armor, Courser, and Shield.)
