Re: QF Lane 1: Aerion Storm vs Ser Jon Templeton
Aerion Storm, atop his humble brown mare Argella, trots into position at the far end of his lane. A local boy -- tossed two coppers earlier, and with more promised -- offers up his lance when it's needed, but keeps at least half his attention on his shiny new treasure. Storm has no one giving him advice, no lordly patron watching over him and encouraging him from the sidelines, no gleaming plate to protect him if he's sloppy. But he has a horse, a lance, and a shield, and that has been enough to get him this far.
Farther, he thinks as he lifts his lance to salute his opponent, then uses the haft to slap his visor into place. It may get me farther yet.
But against Ser Jon Templeton...it may not.

Re: QF Lane 1: Aerion Storm vs Ser Jon Templeton
- Five passes:
- At Jon's request, here's a flurry of several passes all in one pile. Five attack rolls (21, 23, 21, 22, 23, after reroll adjustments), and five stay-in-saddle rolls (15, 19, 15, 27, 22).
Fighting/Ride Combos: 5#10d6k4-1 21 21 21 20 23 5#6d6k5 15 19 15 27 22
Fighting rerolls, BoA, 1-5: 5#1d6 4 6 2 6 2
- Five more passes:
- As per PMs, here's another five passes all at once. After shattering lances but not managing to unseat the Temple in the first several tries, Aerion will shift to Balanced twice, then three passes specifically going High in the Saddle.
Attack rolls are Sixth Pass: 22, Seventh Pass: 27, Eighth Pass: 27; Ninth Pass: 24, Tenth Pass: 27 (with Andal reroll)
Stay In Saddle rolls should be good for anything but a three-degree hit taken on Pass Ten, so, uh, pretty okay.
Fight/Ride Combos, vs. Templeton (2 balanced, 3 high in saddle): 2#10d6k4+3 22 27 3#10d6k4+5 27 24 26 2#6d6k5 19 16 3#6d6k5-2 17...
Fighting rerolls: 5#1d6 1 3 2 4 5

Re: QF Lane 1: Aerion Storm vs Ser Jon Templeton
Ser Jon Templeton rode to the field upon his trusty courser Ghaston. He had survived a marathon joust with Lord Forrest Frey earlier in the tournament and now was going against a man from the Stormlands. While still a squire Aerion had proved to be a remarkable tourney knight. Over the course of the tournament he had dispatched everyone he'd fought with relative ease. Ser Jon had watched the Stormlander joust and he had trouble finding any weakness in his performance. If there is a better man atop a horse I haven't seen it.
Going to his end of the lane Ser Jon tipped his lance to his opponent and charged at the signal. Again and again the two smashed their lances against one another's shields. While Jon was unable to find purchase against his foe, Aerion was able to land more solid blows but they were not causing enough damage to unhorse Ser Jon.
Fatigue was already affecting Jon and another drawn out joust was sapping the remainders of his reserves. On the seventh pass Ser Jon took a particularly fierce blow that almost sent him reeling.
Pass 7
22 - 10 = 12 damage, Take 1 Injury, 4/12 HP, Catch Your Breath ( 4 DoS), HP 8/12
Aerion Storm saw that Ser Jon had taken a serious blow and pressed the attack. Riding high in the saddle again Aerion landed another fierce blow to the knight from Ninestars.
Pass 8
22 - 10 = 12 damage, Take 2 Injuries, 4/12 HP, Catch Your Breath (2 DoS), HP 6/12
With 3 Injuries I'd fail my modified Stay in Saddle Roll, Using +2 BoA to remain in Saddle.
After the eighth pass Ser Jon knew he'd not win the joust. To continue would put himself at risk of seriously injuring himself. This was just for gold, not blood. It isn't worth dying for. When Jon reached the end of the lane his didn't take another lance. "I yield Aerion Storm!" Jon shouted across the lane.
The match didn't go the way he'd hoped but Jon had gone far in the Drakeson tournament and that was something to be proud of. Plus I'm sure some maiden can help me relieve my suffereing. A darker inner voice responded, They only fuck winners Jon.
[ooc]I'll keep the rolls in Spoiler Tags to avoid clutter[/ooc]

Re: QF Lane 1: Aerion Storm vs Ser Jon Templeton
Storm's already reaching for his next lance -- shatter after shatter, having to hit Ser Jon again, and again, and again, always seemingly with little effect -- when he wheels his mare only to find the Templeton knight empty-handed, and hears his shout.
Thank the Seven, Aerion waves his teetering, top-heavy, smallfolk lad away with the heavy lance, and smiles into his helmet.
I was worried I may really have to hurt him. The last few passes, Storm had truly needed to lean into his charges, growing increasingly determined to unseat Ser Jon. He craved the satisfaction of a clean victory, but didn't wish ill or injury on any of his opponents. The concession was welcome news; a win without harm, he hoped.
Empty handed, Aerion trots to midfield. He lifts his visor and offers a nod and a half-weary smile.
"Well ridden, Ser!" There is no gloating in his voice, no sarcasm, no insult at all. Simply honest, earnest, praise. "You are a rock. I feared we'd run the Drakeson's out of trees."

Re: QF Lane 1: Aerion Storm vs Ser Jon Templeton
Ser Jon rode out to meet Aerion at midfield. His shield arm hung low and limp from the accumulated blows. If one were to pay close attention they'd see blood dripping from Jon's left gauntlet.
With his right hand Jon removed his helm to reveal a face covered in sweat. He smiled but there was obvious pain behind the smile, "You found me out. My plan all along was to bankrupt Lord Drakeson through tourney lance expenditures." Jon managed a weak laugh, "No if you'll excuse me I need to see a maester. I think a mountain landed on my arm."
