Yoren longshore wrote:That show seems interesting. I've always been fond of history, and Cosimo and his family has always stuck out as interesting characters.
But who is the challenger in a trial by combat? Is it the man that demands the trial or the man that volenteers to fight the accused?
The challenger is the person who demands the duel, and thus does not get to choose the weapon. I'm not saying that's how trial by combat works, I add. I was just offering the only related knowledge I had, in case it helped.

Trial by seven would be interesting... Yoren will have to fix that somehow.

Trail by combat can be turned into a trial by the seven at any time, and then you have 7 vs. 7 melee type thing.

It would be hilarious. As noted above, recruiting for the anti-Baelon side might produce a selection of scumbags and desperate men.

Re: Game Discussion
It appears rather aribtrary if it's on foot or on horseback. At the Eyrie, the location didn't accommodate horses. Mountain vs Viper was on foot, and Bronn discussed it as expecting it to be on foot and this could be on horseback if they so wanted.
Turning it into trial by seven sounds like blowing everything out of proportion to my ears.
But what's stopping Walton from entering on foot? It could then be construed as quite dishonorable to fight him from horseback.

If you're given the choice of either you're free to enter on foot and for your opponent to ride you down. Knights are expected to be able to fight on horseback.
Trials by Seven are up to either party and can do a lot to underscore the popularity of a cause, or its lack of support.

Re: Game Discussion
He's the one who chooses if the fight is on foot or by horse, it seems, so then it's better to not risk the other not being honorable. Most would probably accept a bit of dishonor at the face of death...

I will write new post: trial by Seven, while it may be interesting, the question is can we arrange something like this with limited resources we have in PbP game?

There has been a trial by seven before, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Trial by seven... I'd settle for 3: Baelon, Prince Daemon, and Caraxes.

Caraxes counts for nineteen, tragically ruling him out of proceedings.
Vhagar broke the scales (geddit?).

I like this read, lots of PCs have done a good job of reflecting the horror of Blackbuckle in this thread and beyond. Daveth is fairly droll here too.

Re: Game Discussion
So just wondering if Yoren or Ser Walton are also armed in the treaty thread. It doesn't make sense to complain about Davain having a sword present when there was already two armed and armored men already at the table.

Well, I thought it's obvious that men wear weapons So obvious that I didn't even mention it in my post... I thought that it's obvious that Walton has sword with him, any other possibility didn't even come to my mind...

big weapons"
reference.

Not visibly, he probably wouldn't get through airport security, but no visible weapons.Davain Bartheld wrote:So just wondering if Yoren or Ser Walton are also armed in the treaty thread. She is mocking you all for coming in armed and armoured. It's a staff meeting, not a battlefield. :;
):
But at least Walton &
Yoren didn't sling their weapon against the table like they own the place. You're in someone else's home, functionally speaking. Show some respect.

Re: Game Discussion
Corrine is right in that armed and armored is a breach of etiquette, but can't I blame them for not trusting anyone and come armored.
Then again, I'm not in that meeting and if I was, I would have showed up in nice clothing if invited to just witness from far away with the equivalent of popcorn and cider.

Corrine doesn't trust many people either, and is one of the people most at risk, but you don't see her encasing herself in metal. :;

Re: Game Discussion
well, You'll thank us when brigands jump into camp
well, it's not about meeting I believe, at least not in Walton's case- it's laundry day...
but really- with all that shit flying around during that amazing week, I guess it's good to be prepared for fight- I don't trust locals/brigands/bandits/Blackwoods/Brackens/anyone, PCs and people present at Pavilion are the least concern of Ser Walton. He can kick asses even unarmed, but in fervour of battle, it's not always that obvious
P.S. Well, as Walton mentioned- it's men's thing to bear steel...

Re: Game Discussion
As ever, be guided by the novels. At court, only the Kingsguard and guardsmen seem to be armed and armoured.
Davos doesn't rock up to his diplomacy meetings in mail or plate, and so on.
That said, turning up armed and armoured can send out a signal and make for an interesting story!
There are degrees to this kind of thing - wandering around in a padded surcoat with a sword (a sidearm) is generally reasonable and courtly behaviour. Turning up in heavy armour or carrying a large war weapon (two-handed sword/axe, a halberd etc) to a peace negotiation sends out a pretty strong signal that you're trying to intimidate people, don't trust the others or similar.

There won't be any brigands. The Marsten pavilion is one of the best-guarded of all Houses present. And Corrine is perfectly capable of defending herself.
Accept that you've either fucked up or made a deliberate negative statement and deal with the consequences. If you want to stay involved, I suggest you stop giving Corrine more reasons to dislike you.
