[Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
The Yi Ti Acrobats
As the Carnival continues, the audience is treated with a rare and beautiful presentation: acrobats from the Golden Empire. The artists demonstrate skills of tumbling, balancing and contortion with storytelling, dancing, drum beating and fire-breathing.
The show opens with a traditional Lion Dance, the beasts frolicking around a group of charming flower-dancers. The series of acts that follow show the troupe’s impressive training, athleticism, flexibility, and grace.
In one group number, the men, dressed like Yi Ti warriors, toss and flip a petite women through the air while they daintily balanced fans on long stems held in their teeth. In a brilliant display of physical power, two men demonstrate incredible control and strength as they use each other’s bodies like pommel horses, drawing appreciative applause from those assembled.
A master fire-breather enthralls the crowd by seeming to blow various flaming animals into thin air, his act culminating in a winged phoenix and a great dragon. Each creature springs to life for a short time wrought in beautiful multi-coloured flame and then winks out.
In the breathtaking aerial number, a woman climbs up a pair of red silk banners hanging from the ceiling, twisting and wrapping them around her limbs to spin and arc above the gathering. In the finale, the men dive, leap and tumble through hoops, quick and light as cats.
Those present may take one of three actions.
1: A PC may take a free Opportunist action at +2D using the distraction. This does not count as a general event action and does not count toward general event awards. Those who are barred from Opportunist cannot take this action.
2: A PC may take a free Gambling action at +1D using the distraction. This does not count as a general event action and does not count toward general event awards.
3. A PC may make a free Unmasking roll at +1D to discover the identity of an NPC while the audience is distracted. This does not count as a general event action and does not count toward general event awards.
Drinking bonus/penalties apply.

Does a PC still need to do a stealth test? And if so does the +2D apply to the stealth?

Corrine scans the awe-struck faces for a few moments, looking for clues about their identities. She knew well that the face was not the only way of recognising someone.
When she sees nothing that stands out to her, she returns her gaze to the spectacle, though her eyes do wander over to 'Orys Baratheon' once or twice, with the furtive, guilty look of a scolded child caught stealing sweets.

Luecian tries to admire the show for a moment but in truth he couldn't see much of it. He decides to try luck gambling for a bit instead.
Gambling-Persuasion(Bargain) during acrobats show +2D, -2D: 6d6k4 13
BOA reroll Gambling: 1d6 6
with BOA reroll [6d6k4=[6, 5, 4, 3], 1, 1]=18
As many of the other participants seem to be both playing their hands and enjoying the show, Luecian seems to combine luck, focus and current lack of farsight to draw a winning hand. He gives a small shout of excitement as he appears to win the hand...well if he's really following the rules correctly that is.
(OOC-I think I won, I think I won..I'm rich!!)

Re: [Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
'Orys Baratheon' lets out a long, low, whistle during the demonstration. He's seen jugglers before, and tumblers, and all manner of vaulters and contortionists. Even fire breathers. One doesn't grow up riding from tourney to tourney, one great tent city to another, nobleman's feast to nobleman's feast, without seeing entertainers. But these? These are new to him. It may just be the wine, but he's a man not easily impressed, and these performers impress him.
And -- of course -- his thoughts ride with the Warrior, regardless. The Yi Ti are lean and lithe, not broad-shouldered or barrel-chested, but Aerion can well imagine the strength hiding in those wiry limbs, to leap and cavort so. Athletes, one and all, and maybe fighters, too, hiding among them. Had he to fight such men, he'd be glad for his sword and shield, and wish for a horse. The horse doubly so, should he ever need to chase one.
Content to watch the show, the bastard does simply that; tearing his attention away from the bare breasts and buttocks jiggling here, there, and everywhere, and letting the fire and talent distract him.

Re: [Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
Fine entertainment indeed, but Garth is not so inebriated as to not sense an opportunity to rise up with the distraction, and in his usual life, Garth was a very curious man, eager to know things he could use to advance his own cause. And with all these fancy acrobats around, others would forget a very simple thing, the way one cheered and clapped ones hands could be quite distinctive, and nobody would note if another was taking good long looks at the features of others, perhaps a telltale sign might be revealed.
Gambling-Persuade(Bargain): 6d6 BoA-reroll: 17+1d6 23 2 DoS=50GD, not bad.
Yi Ti Unmasking: 6d6k4 23 Huzzah! I believe it is a status 4.

Re: [Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
Gwyneth was, for a moment, as delighted and as entranced by the acrobats as everyone else. The perfection of their bodies somehow elevated them to something beyond just objects of lust...they were living works of art, and their performance was their exhibition hall. It was easy to feel jealous that such abilities were beyond her...but then she thought about all they'd sacrificed to achieve it. All the things they would never be, besides incredible acrobats.
What would she be now, had she walked another path?
With that thought in mind, her eyes wandered from the display and over the audience. Was it fortune that she spied someone who's mannerisms at that moment were so familiar? Who, in a moment of astonishment and wonder, let their mask slip for just a second, showing just a flash of a part of their face? Like a lightning bolt, by the time you knew to look it was gone. You had to be looking already to see the bolt. And it left an afterimage on her eyes the same way.
Oh the people you never expected to see.
Awareness empathy to unmask at acrobats: 7d6k5 28
(No idea who that recognizes, but it's only 2 off her maximum possible roll. )
(Edit 2: Electric etc etc... Spending a DP to convert a bonus dice to a test dice, to bump that score up a bit. Thanks for the tip, Nathan!)
(Edit 3: May be undoing that DP because I forgot there was an additional +1D to this, so I rolled and this happened: Extra test dice for unmasking at acrobats because DERP: 1d6 5 Total result is now 33. )

Re: [Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
It was not often that Kevan could enjoy a card game, but his information gathering activities provided the perfect opportunity. Sitting between a group of masked guests, nome of which he recognized, he drew his cards and listened to the chatter. The cards were not his main focus. Nevertheless or maybe just because of that he won round after round until his winnings were quite significant. That most of the other players' attention was turned to the show behind him probably helped him out as well...
Pocketing the gold coins, he left the disgruntled group of players in search for another group of guests to drink with...
Who knows, maybe I won against a member of the kingsguard, or a member of the small council!
He smiled at the thought
YiTi Gambling (Bargain): 6d6 11
YiTi Gambling (Bargain) - Lucky Reroll: 6d6 28
Much better - 3 DoS 12 gold
(Edited for gold amount)

Re: [Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
Jon had never heard of Yi Ti let alone met someone from there. The Acrobatics were truly something to behold and it caught the attention of many of the masquerade attendees.
Jon had been gambling with a group of men and women and for the moment their attention was on the show and not the cards. This gave Jon an opportunity to focus on the game and win a substantial (to him at least) amount of money. With the last hand played Jon had won. Smiling, he collected his winnings and left the table to mingle and watch the performers.
Carnival, TN 18, +2D (drinking, distraction): 5d6k5 19 = 25 GD
During the fire-breathing Jon caught something in the corner of his eye. Turning to the source he saw a beautiful white Swan laughing with two friends. I think I'll have to go over and say hi.

Re: [Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
The old women looked at the acrobats, If I tried half those things I would likely end up maimed or dead. The old women was jostled by a passerby, drunk off wine and not in too much control of their own bodies. As the old women looked disapprovingly at the rustler she notes someone remove there mask slightly, using the distraction of the moment to wipe the condensation from the inside of their mask with a white cloth and catches a glimpse of their face before they are able to return the mask to its proper place.

Re: [Event] The Yi Ti Acrobats
Darron enjoyed the view of the Yi Ti acrobats but he spied someone doing very well for themselves at the gambling tables. He joined them and wormed his way into their good graces becoming a lucky charm for them. Once they were done Darron received a nice chunk of change for sitting mingling.
