[OOC] OiM - The Merry Men (Closed)
Okay.. I definitely don't like the way the new site handles PMs, so I am posting this here.
Open to Arlyn, Walton, Raynald, Nathan, Ben, and Aerion.
Group is divided into two teams...
Team Dulver consisting of Walton, Arlyn and Reynald.
Team Bartheld consisting of Nathan, Ben and Aerion.
We will talk about each step and agree on a course of action, then move to the next step.
(Don't make any rolls in this thread.. or at all.. until we know how things are planned. There will be a RP thread to co-incide with this, and rolls will be made there once we are all in a agreement.
Step 1. Getting in.
Don't be fancy. This is just a win/lose test.
Team Dulver has arranged a meeting with the merchant to discuss potential trade between him and their House.
Raynald rolls Deception (Disquise). (This is more to disguise their intent rather then identity, but meets the spirit of the test while avoiding roll substitution.
Walton assists.
Arlyn Co-ordinates.
Meanwhile, Team Bartheld sneaks in through a secret passage in the wine cellar and enters the mansion undetected.
Nathan rolls Stealth (sneak) Both Aerion and Ben have similar Will. and I am assuming neither have 4 Stealth so...
Aerion assists, Lord Marsten co-ordinates.
Barring catastrophic dice rolls, both groups beat a TN9 and are in.
If all are in agreement, we move to step 2.

I'm not sure what that does to my earlier roll (so maybe I was premature), but I'm down for it, sure.

As Aerion starts to climb the wall, Nathan grabs him by the scruff of the neck, shakes his head in feigned irritation, and silently points to the concealed grate that leads to the secret passage.

Can agree on our part- in worst scenario we fight 6 knights and 6d4 guards- what can go wrong?
Scene of Aerion choosing 'fancy' way inside, brought to my mind Johnny English movie...

Re: [OOC] OiM - The Merry Men (Closed)
We are only waiting on Raynald. I will move on to the next steps and if he has any major objection to Step 1 we can address it as we go on.
I have discussed the situation with Reader. Rolls for Team Dulver will be slightly different than those for Team Bartheld.
Those of you in House Dulver, discuss how you want to organize your rolls for each step in your House Forum. Post here to let me know. We can sign off at the end when everyone is happy.
Team Dulver, Step 2, Engaging the Merchant.
Deception/Persuasion (Charm, Bargain) TN12: I am guessing either Arlyn or Raynald
Aid: ???
Co-Ordinate: ???
Each DoS grants +1B to Team Bartheld's Step 2 roll.
Team Bartheld, Step 2, Accessing the office.
Nathan: Thievery (Steal... or Picklock if necessary)
Aid: Ben
Co-Ordinate: Aerion
Team Dulver, Step 3, Reading the Merchant
Awareness (Empathy) TN 9
Aid: ???
Co-Ordinate: ???
Each DoS grants +1B to Team Bartheld's Step 3 roll.
Team Bartheld, Step 3, Look for Valuable Information
Nathan: Cunning (Logic)
Aid: Aerion, unless Ben has a 4 or higher Cunning.
Co-Ordinate: Ben (or Aerion)
Team Dulver, Step 4, Outsmarting the Merchant
Cunning (Logic) TN 12. (At a guess I would say Arlyn, but please confirm.)
Aid: ???
Co-Ordinate: ???
Each DoS grants +1B to Team Bartheld's Step 4 roll.
Team Bartheld, Step 4, Getting the Information Out.
This is the roll that really counts. Nathan spends a DP to substitute Knowledge (Streetwise) for Cunning (Memory). He has researched and planned this mission, garnering copious amount of information about the subject, Gian Yuffon, before anyone even crossed his threshold. At this point, it's more about confirming what he knows rather than learning anything new.
Nathan: Knowledge (Streetwise)
Aid: Whichever one of you has the highest Knowledge
Co-Ordinate: Whichever one of you doesn't.
That is the overall plan of attack. Questions? Concerns?

Re: [OOC] OiM - The Merry Men (Closed)
During Step Two, Aerion would supply a bonus of 0 (1/2 of 1, rounded down) thanks to his Flaw: Thievery, I'm pretty sure. So you probably want someone else there for that.

That's fine. I can switch you around. Both you and Ben have identical Wills.

At least we're soundly establishing that Corrine's got a type.

Well.. when rounding.. minimum of one is generally the rule.
Really.. I can see Nathan facepalming though the entire narrative. Anything else I should know about? Are you both in full plate, carrying lances with your destriers parked at the front door?

Re: [OOC] OiM - The Merry Men (Closed)
Deception is not a strong suit of Ben's. If it helps to appease Nathan, Ben can do this event in his carnival loincloth only. It would make an interesting crawl through the tunnel.Nathaniel Mason wrote:Benedict Marsten wrote:

Re: [OOC] OiM - The Merry Men (Closed)
Anyways, yeah, looks like it is a "minimum one" situation. I remembered reading that it rounded down, but it's specifically got that minimum one clause, so we're good to go, Aerion will hand out +1s as he can.
Which will, I imagine, mostly come from our lockpicker just thinking "Well, don't need to worry about getting attacked while I'm focused on picking this lock, there's a big dude with a sword there who'll do the fighting for me," and leaving them free to do their work undistracted.

We will be making the rolls in an RP thread. This thread is just for determining who is making what rolls and when.
Once the Dulvers have decided their best course of action, I will slot them into the plan above. Then we can move onto the RP thread.

Re: [OOC] OiM - The Merry Men (Closed)
Okay, I will start the RP thread later on tonight.
Post order for each step will be:
Team Dulver
1. Co-Ordinater.
2. Assister.
3. Main roller.
Team Bartheld.
4. Co-Ordinator
5. Assister.
6. Main roller.
This is to keep rolls organized (as many later rolls play off earlier rolls) and for each person in the thread to have an opportunity to RP even if they are just assisting and not making rolls.
Refer to this thread for when you are posting. Post to this thread if you have any questions.

Arlyn is up... RP as you like. Need you to roll will (Co-ordinate) and confirm your bonus for Raynald's roll.
Walton next... RP as you like... officially state your assist bonus.
Finally Raynald RPs and makes his main Deception/Persuasion roll.. including the bonus' from each of you.
I think this will go smoothly once we get in the rhythm.
