[D3 Mid Morning] Melee Training (Open)

[Athelstan]

Athelstan is practicing in the Longshore pavilion, practicing with the other ironborn as he prepares for the melee, but he is looking for his half brothers to show their faces and measure himself against them or Leifnarr himself, should he has the need to blow some steam after last night.

Athelstan taunts as he engages with another ironborn and several form a circle to watch the practice fight, while others place bets and laugh having a good time early in the morning.

Athelstan truly looking at Roddric waiting for him to come for a real contender, someone he will truly make him sweat to win.

[ooc]Waiting for Leifnarr, Yoren to show up if they want to have a little fun fight and discussion, or any other player that wishes to drop by to test himself and maybe make a friend. If you are not a fighter, you are welcome to join and bet or just chatter along with who ever joins.[/ooc]

Yoren strolls into the Longshore encampment just to find Athelstan hard at work. Giving a wave Yoren asks: "
I'll bet for my brother, anyone wanting to take me up on it?"

He then turns to Athelstan asking, you have time for a practice bout with me?

Any time Yoren, I might even help you learn a trick or two if you are up for it"
Athelstan comes and beckons him to come forward "
Take a shield and any weapon from these practice once"
Athelstan picks up a shield and holding an axe in hand waiting for his brother.

The men are now truly paying attention, and betting on one or the other.

Yoren looks at the weaponrack finding himself a good shield and sword: "
I have not used such weapons for ten years, but they still feel right in my hands."


Yoren smiles as he swings his blade: "
Oak and shield guard me well, or else I'm doomed and go to hell."

He says to his brother as he finds his position, left leg thrusted a little backward..

Then it will be a practice match, I'll mark the hits but I won't hurt you, I'll hit you openings lightly, get you into pace"
Athelstan judges Yoren stance "
Swordsman stance, muscle memory will come back just trust your instincts"
as Athelstan takes a few quick steps, and brings his axe on a back hand swing.

Yoren attempts to block, but finds his arm arrive a little to late to stop the blow, still a little off balance Yoren jabs at his opponent, to keep him at bay. He then takes a quick step back: "
even when I used to practice I was never this quick!"
he flashes a grin before falling back in his stance.

Athelstan moves nimbly out of the way using the momentum to cut the distance by making a quick step forward and a downward swing "
I can tell, but only Roddric and Leifnarr can match me or beat me. Well With Roddric is more of a first to hit wins"

I never were much for fighting. As long as I can hold my own in a fight, and lead my men properly, I won't worry overly much, but I'll need to have a bit more grace than what I've had this far in our sparring."
Yoren shakes his head, before getting ready for the next bout.

Yoren stop making unnecessary movement, that will increase you accuracy and less chance of him reacting"
Athelstan rubs his chin some more "
I'll see if Roddric wants a proper quick in his arse so you can see what I mean by unnecessary moves and flow with your attacks, make it your rhythm, not to that of your opponent, and if you can't trip him, or something to throw him off like dirt to his face.

Athelstan just looks at Yoren know and thinks to himself "
If he doesn't improve there is not enough words to make the men believe in him, if he can't fight."

Yoren grits his teeth as he attacks the second man. He has gone completely quiet, only focusing on his immediate task. He continues doing what he is instructed to do, not speaking, merely focusing on the man in front of him.

[Reader]

Roddric Longshore stands and watches. As ever, the strong young reaver is accompanied by a group of tyro warriors.

If anything he seems encouraged that his elder brother is willing to try his luck against a warrior of Athelstan's might, although a cynic might assume he hopes to see Athelstan curry favour by injuring Yoren or shaming him somehow.

Roddric spins his axe in a flourish, eagerly joining the training. He's unarmoured but bears a raider's round shield.

Perhaps surprised at the sudden invitation, he doesn't quite move with his usual quickness.

Heavily winded by the blow to his side and the feeling of a probable bruised rib takes some of his momentum and punch out of his attack, but still manages to hit Roddric hard enough to knock some sense into him.

Watching Roddrics limp and probably dead body drop in the practice yard of the pavilion and holding his side in pain Athelstan points at Yoren with his axe

Athelstan begins to bark orders to the men to get ready a healer for Roddric or prepare him to be sent to the Drowned God. Athelstan beckons Yoren to come near him.

[ooc]I kill Roddric, if he has a DP he can burn it, if he has a heirloom I will take it from him, I will be the keeper until a heir is worthy of it[/ooc]

[OOC: Roddric burns a Destiny Point to try to cling to life and be rescued by his nearby men. Athelstan can burn a destiny point to prevent this.

Yoren ignores the tumult around him as he tears a piece of cloth of his robes to bind Roddrics wound to stop the bleeding.
seeing the lifeforce drain from his brother, he stops trying yo apply pressure, shaking his head.
