Theomore concedes, his left hand leaving her to find a silver coin from his pocket, showing her the image of a stag. "
But I do find that one can do much and more to improve one's chances of success, sometimes it is better to be lucky then good, but the good do seem to have luck on their side as well."

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

She looked at him quizzically;

Forgive my ignorance, Ser, but how does that relate to the coin?"

[Theomore Tullison]

"
It is my lucky coin, my lady."
Theomore smiles, flips it up in the air, not higher than that catching it again will be easy. "
And I am willing to stake it on that the stag will show when I open my hand...."

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

I see,"
Corrine replies, raising an eyebrow as a curious and playful smile spreads across her lips. "
Alright then, you're on. Let's see."

[Theomore Tullison]

"
And if I win, my lady?"
Theomore smiles teasingly. "
A coin staked against nothing are poor odds even for the most notorious gambler..."

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

What could you want that this humble soul could give you?"
she asks coyly.

[Theomore Tullison]

I do have a quite vivid imagination, my lady might be wise not to tempt me so"
Theomore seems to enjoy that particular question more than the others. "
But it does so happen that I would find a certain guilty pleasure of having all these suitors of yours quite jealous of me."

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

"
Oh you are wicked, Ser,"
Corrine laughed in mostly mock affront. "
I cannot agree to anything compromising, dashing though you are. Surely such a small matter can be wagered with something appropriate to our public setting?"

[Theomore Tullison]

"
One ought indeed not make a mother wroth, my lady."
Theomore consents with a certain playfulness. "
A kiss on the cheek mayhaps?"

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

She eyes him suspiciously for a moment, then a wild mischief curls the corners of her mouth.

"
Very well then, but first, I want to ensure the test is fair!"


With a giggle, she attempts to take the coin from his fist.

[He is holding the coin within his fist atm, already flipped it]

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

[well either you give it to her to flip, let her take it, or we roll agility. She's not doing anything until she sees both sides]

Do I seem a man that would stake my lucky coin on a fair bet, my lady?"
Theomore all but confirms her suspicions.

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

She lets out a frustrated snort as his fist tightens, blocking her burrowing fingers.

"
Fie on you, Ser! So be it then. Let's see your stag. I'll not renege. One of us is honest, at least,"
she jibes, mostly in good nature, though his evasiveness has ruffled her somewhat.

[Theomore Tullison]

"
My lady has likely guessed what the other side shows"
He opens his fist to reveal the side with the stag facing up, or at least a side with the stag.

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

She is unsurprised by the sight of the silver stag's head, and she purses her lips wryly.

"
Too late, of course,"
she quips amusedly. "
So, do you wish your kiss now?"

[Theomore Tullison]

"
If we are to make everyone jealous, they must see it, no?"
Theomore doesn't seem like he is overly concerned with her keeping the promise. "
And at least they are all here. Perhaps we shall see who cares enough for my lady's hand to take note?"

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

"
I suspect you are a sneaky cheater, but I suppose it costs me nothing to give your ego a stroke,"
she remarks, her tone still playful, though with a coolness to it. "
And finding out who gets jealous serves me as well."


She steps close to him, stands on tiptoe, and kisses his cheek, softly, letting it linger a second before she drops back down and meets his eyes with hers, scrutinising for any reaction.

Theomore likes this particular phrase of his "

And it is only cheating when one pretends to play fair. You know what they call men that plays fair?"

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

She shakes her head at the question, looking warily at him, suspecting the answer will be unpleasant.

Dignified in defeat, my lady"
His smile might well indicate that it's merely a jest, though it is rather difficult to tell. "
The clever man knows when and how to bend the rules. It does not make him a cheater. But it's hardly fair for those who follows the rules as if they were a straight line."

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

"
I would rather be dignified in defeat than to win ignominiously,"
Corrine replied, her tone only slightly jesting. "
If the rules are not observed the same by everyone, then why have them at all?"

[Theomore Tullison]

A very astute question, my lady."
Theomore comments. "
My answer is rather pragmatic, look around us, Brackens, Blackwoods, Ironmen, Northrons, greens and blacks. Rules allows them to be in the same room without steel being drawn."

[Lady Corrine Marsten]

That is true, Ser, but there are many who only obey the rules when it suits them,"
Corrine replied. "
And I do not believe that their number corresponds to the number of times that justice is served upon them. Good men and just do not always prevail against the unscrupulous."
