[Day 4, EN]The music of the wind[Closed]
Theomore waited by the entrance, for certain, it was only proper for a gallant knight to wait for his lady. And the ladies did like to make them wait, so he had arrived precisely when he was supposed to, because Ayleth sure as the hells would not. That much he could tell. The wind ruffled through the leaves, something a man like he, enjoying the beauty of all things, could find himself entertained with for quite some time. And for many things, a wait was quite worth it.

Lady Ayleth greets Theomore with well reheared grace, accompanied by an aged looking septa.
She is dressed conservatively, wrapped up against the cold winds that have entertained Theomore while he waits.
"
My apologies Ser Theomore, the night ran away with me and I wished to change in to something suitable for our late walk."

"
Oh, no need to apologize my lady, It would not do for a knight to let his charge freeze to death, now would it?"
He flashes an inviting grin and offers his arm. "
Besides, I found the quiet of the night to have a certain appeal of it's own, we do not have such trees in Mountain's with leaves that sing in the wind."

"
The rolling Riverlands do have a certain charm don't they? Even in winter, the rivers keep everything passably green and pleasant."
She takes Ser Theomore's arm as they begin their stroll.
Lady Ayleth retains her proper attitude, steering the walk politely near well defended guard posts and battlements.
"
A fine speech yesterday Ser. Word has word tongue had the attention of every man and woman in the hall,"
a subtle inflection on woman hints at something in Ayleth's typical mischievous style, without breaching the bounds of etiquette.

Re: [Day 4, EN]The music of the wind[Closed]
"
My lady is kind to say."
Theomore seems quite pleased with the compliment...more than usual perhaps. Just being in her presence is different, oh he wants what he always wants, a good sign, because otherwise he would not know who he was. But there is something else as well, something quite unlike him, but not entirely unwelcome. "
I could not turn down my lord nephew when he asked me to have that honor."
In truth, Theomore had allied with Yve on that matter, it would not do for Dunstan to hold his first speach of significance in front of the bloodroyal. A lesser tourney with lesser stakes would be preferable.
"
And I do agree, but it is not so at Mountain's Reach, the peaks are white even in the longest summer, and during winter, everything is covered in snow. But that has it's own stark beauty, during clear days in particular, I have seen no view so magnificent as the Mountain's of the Moon covered in snow and bathed in the sun, so full of light, my lady does in fact remind me of it."

Re: [Day 4, EN]The music of the wind[Closed]
She laughs happily at Theomore's comparison.
"
My mother always told me I should get more sun! If Ser can keep a secret as well as he jousts and speaks, I'll let him know why I seldom ventured forth as a girl, a short-coming that has persisted to my mother's anger."
She leans in conspiratorially...
"
Swear you won't tell, or think me foolish."

At least not this lady..."

She smile in thanks at Ser Theomore's promise.
"
Are you familiar with the tale of Lady Johanna Swann Ser? A relative taken by pirates some decades past. Every time we were wicked or naughty, we would be threatened with a similar fate - that Lyseni pirates would carry us away and Lord Swann would once more refuse to give in and pay the ransom."
"
I will confess that I took the tales to heart. Ser must forgive me if I jump at shadows as if they were snarks or grumpkins come to carry me away."
"
Still, if I hadn't spent so much time fretting indoors I'd never have learnt to play the harp. Initially it was just an excuse to avoid playing outdoors, but now I couldn't live without music."
[Awareness (empathy) 12 to hit a clue above]

"
I have indeed, my lady, I did fight on the Stepstones, and her story was one of those frequently told."
Theomore replies. "
I believe Grumps and Snarkins are better to scare children with, they will grow up to learn that such does not exist, while Lyseni pirates are quite real."
"
I should very much like to hear my lady play the harp."

She shudders at the very mention of Lyseni pirates, pulling her warm robe around herself protectively.
"
Whichever Bartheld I am wed to, I shallll make sure you are one of the first names on the wedding list - it shall be my wedding, and who would deny a bride a recital on her wedding day?"
"
Well me, are you acquainted with either man?"

"
I was a squire with Ser Fendrel on the stepstones, had to pull him out of all sorts of trouble"
Theomore grins mischievously, not mentioning who it was who usually got him into that trouble to begin with. "
I do not know his nephew besides certain second hand accounts, and I do have this feeling that little enough of what is said about either man lacks in accuracy."
"
A lady like yourself, should not be forced to sit and watch such a struggle unfold, especially as it seems to be much less about her than the lordship. Though I must admit that I would fight with everything I had over the most inhospitable patch of land if it were for you."
For the first time in his life, such words from Theomore's mouth were not untrue, there was something else than his usual lust, something weird, a feeling that this woman deserved to be happy, something more than the question of his desire for her gifts and whether or not she would offer them. "
Do you believe that either can make you happy?"
[OOC Note: Theo's memories regarding teenage escapades may be inaccurate.]

"
Happiness is for singers and silly starry-eyed girls,"
says she who is not so long removed from girlhood herself.
"
I want a man who can bring me security, a strong man with the resources and will to look after me. What's the use in happiness if it comes at the price of uncertainty and risk."
"
That is the man I would choose."
The words seems to suprise Ayleth herself, reciprocating Theomore's equally unusual openness.
"
Another silly notion - I am not blind that I may have some influence on the matter, but doubt I am truly free to choose."

"
My lady ought to be allowed that freedom."
Theomore seems quite convinced of that, his reasoning perhaps sound in an of itself, but that is not how things works, and he knows it. But with Ayleth, he is actually rather frank as to what he usually was like in matters such as these. "
If for no other reason than that House Bartheld holds a choice between two widely different claimants, yet the choice of a lady is already taken for them, and behind most any successful man you can find the support of a fine woman."

"
Well spoken, although don't let Lady Isobel Marsten hear you speaking such unconventional thoughts, or we'll be short one pageant champion!"
"
Many answer remains the same - I have my music for happiness. As my friend, you would do me a great service if you could confirm for me which of the two would offer me the security I seek."
Ayleth flutters her eye-lashes at Theomore, half seriously as she implores him to aid her, half light-heartedly flirting and mocking herself.

"
My Lady, as far as this simple knight from the other side of the mountains goes, I think the lady Isobel have other concerns far more important to her than his whimsical fancies"
When Ayleth starts the trick with the eye-lashes, he cannot fail but to be quite encouraged by it, offering a very secretive smile. "
Though she may not know them yet, but I do, and I might be in great trouble for even admitting that much."
The implication of his glance that he felt quite inclined to share, yet did not trust the septa to hear the great secret.

Re: [Day 4, EN]The music of the wind[Closed]
Lady Ayleth is crafty than most maidens and well drilled in etiquette. She is not one to send away her Septa so easily.
"
I do believe my penmanship and poetry could do with an improvement - there is a fine chivalric tradition of knights and ladies exchanging anonymous, chaste poetry?"
She smiles endearingly, although not resorting to the eye-lash flutter again.
"
Oh go on, it will be as if we were some Reach knight and lady from a song."
[OOC: Lady Ayleth's disposition will improve by one step if Ser Theomore agrees to this game]

Theomore does not mind the idea at all, though he throws up a teasing smile. "
Though she must know that my own writing may not be the most pleasing to the eye..."

[OOC: Many thanks for crunching the numbers for me - other players, you're welcome to follow Ser Theomore's example.
Offers yield at the three frustration round - you keep the +1D for winning by using charm and get the increase in disposition to amiable, but you also investigate Fendrel and Davain for her to see who can give her security, as she desires. She's your friend after all?
Otherwise she quits, flouncing off with her Septa, excusing herself as it is late]

The conversation flows pleasant...and freely. Theomore cannot help but feel a duty towards making the good lady happy. Of course he can make his inquiries. Secretly hoping that what he has to report might make her open to a different alternative, but as he told Gwyn earlier, such a game would be very dangerous to play.
