[Day 3, ME] Meeting as promised. (Closed partially)
Dunstan got word Ser Jon wanted to see him so he made way to the brothel where they met the last time. Meeting did not go well but Dunstan was not the one to decline any invitation.
Knocking on the door a pretty young girl opened up.
Dunstan sat down at the table and asked, "
Is Ser Jon Cobb here? I got a message he'' like a word with me."

Jon is in his room, recuperating from the beating inflicted on him in the day's joust, when he receives word that Lord Dunstan has arrived. Grabbing his maul and quickly shrugging on his best doublet, he proceeds to the taproom to meet his guest.
"
Lord Dunstan, it's good to see you! And very kind of you to accept my invitation. I hear you rode very well in the joust today - congratulations! May I get you something to drink?"

"
Ser Jon, greetings. Aye, I could use a cold ale after all the riding and joustin' from today, thank you."
Dunstan says and shakes Jon's hand.
"
How did you do? I missed your tilts unfortunately."

Jon orders an ale for each of them before answering Dunstan's question.
"
I did surprisingly well actually. Horsemanship was never my strong point - there wasn't much call for it in the Stepstones - but I don't think I disgraced myself. My body, on the other hand, will be feeling the beating I took for days to come! It's stupid really;
at my age I should be avoiding letting other people use me as a chopping block, and yet I always end up doing so anyway,"
he says with a tired little laugh.
"
Now, may I speak frankly to you Lord Dunstan?"
OOC: My second joust isn't over yet, so I don't know quite how I'll finish, but I have taken one big hit, and there's probably more to come...

Dunstan laughs and nods at his words saying "
I'm sure you are still better than most Ser Jon!"
Seeing how the old knight intercepted the playful banter sharply he responds a bit taken aback, "
Yes, of course. Always."

"
Thank you, Lord Dunstan, that's very gracious of you,"
Jon replies with a reassuring grin.
"
First, I would like to apologize if you took any offence at my words when last we met here at the Painted World. I try to speak the truth as I see it, even when it can be unpleasant, but it was not my intent to insult you. Second, something you said then gave me hope that we might be allies in a matter where I think we will see eye-to-eye more than in the matter of the sincerity of whores."
Jon continues, pausing for a moment to let Dunstan respond to his words.
OOC: Joust complete! Jon's a winner!

"
I've got no issue with speaking with people who disagree with me. All must be able to present their side."
Dunstan says. The side Ser Jon seems to be pushing - having Fendrel as Bartheld heir with Davain alive and well however was not acceptable to Dunstan at all. Rightful heir is rightful heir, and that's it. Dunstan was a heir too and that surely did help.
"
I always listen to all my subjects in the throne room back home, no reason for that not to be the case here - with other House members right now."

"
I always listen to all my subjects back home"
? "
All must be able to present their side"
? What's he mean by that? Does he think that I'm going to try and get him to support Fendrel? Not much point in that, if I've got the measure of this lad - I'd have a better chance of convincing pigs to fly than change his mind, and given what Ben told me, Dunstan was sold on Davain five seconds after Nathan latched onto him.
Giving Dunstan a slightly odd look, Jon says: "
I am not certain I understand your meaning, Lord Dunstan, but if you are suggesting that I have asked you here to involve you in the dispute between Davain and Ser Fendrel, then you are mistaken. I would not dream of asking you to take sides in what is a wholly internal House Bartheld matter - in fact, my honest opinion is that the best thing anyone outside the family could do would be to steer well clear of the entire affair."
"
No, what I was referring to is that when we met two days ago, you said that Lord Brom Bartheld is a long time guest of your house, that you enjoy his company greatly, and that you try to heed his advice. Given these words, would it be fair to say that you consider Brom a friend?"

Dunstan at idly and sipped on cold ale, glad to hear the meeting won't be about inheritance rift. He was a stubborn lad, Dunstan, and had a tendency to react to anything he saw as injustice.
Turning the subject to more pleasant themes he smiled "
Yes, of course! Lord Brom is a friend of my House. For a long time we had him as a guest and enjoyed the time together."
OOC: Don't know what Brom did actually, what is the nature of the scandal he was involved.

"
I'm very glad to hear that!"
Jon replies with obvious sincerity. "
Then I hope you are also aware of Brom's recent...escapades...and how they have caused the king to withdraw his favor from Brom?"
OOC: It's a bit murky, really. In the Chronicle, it's all due to him dropping the lordship to go to Mountain's Reach and court Yve. In response to a direct question, Reader stated that Brom left in an "
ill-defined bit of scandal"
. I've been playing it as not really being bad enough to deserve the King's displeasure, and Reader han't had any NCs directly contradict that.

"
I am. And it hurts me deeply, surely such small matter do not deserve such harsh repercussions"
Dunstan says, remembering the old adventurous jovial lord he liked talking to back home.
"
You are his friend Ser Jon, he mentioned you numerous time and told of your time together in captivity, especially after few goblets of wine. Do you know if there is anything we could do to help him?"

I agree with you completely, Lord Dunstan. I've spent enough time at the court in King's Landing to know that there are plenty of nobles who've done far worse and yet still enjoy His Grace's confidence. And although I can never claim to know the King's mind, it does seem to me that the punishment is disproportionate to the crime!"
"Dunstan Tullison wrote:"

As a matter of fact, I have been working on that ever since coming to Riverrun, and helping Brom is the very reason I asked to see you today! I believe that if we can rally enough support from other noble houses, and get them to publicly support a pardon for Brom, then we may yet sway the King's mind."
Jon leans forward, and continues in a low, conspiratorial voice. "
I already have the word of Lord Coldbrook that he will support such a motion, and I have good reason to believe that House Marsten will do the same. If necessary, I will even approach Prince Daemon and the Princess and petition them to persuade His Grace to relent. The Prince has already shown that he has not forgotten me, and I doubt he has forgotten Brom's loyal service either. Lord Dunstan - can I count on your house to also do what is right, and publicly support a pardon for Brom?"

Dunstan is happy at the thought of helping Brom. he picks up the mug and raises his cup,
"
To Brom than!"
"
he proposes a toast.
"
Of course the Tullisons will hep him. And I am glad to hear you worked toward that goal and united different Houses toward it. Not an easy task, and I appreciate when friends work together."
Dunstan says sincerely, thinking how did he manage to persuade Lady Marsten - but than he remembered Gwyn and Corrine's words how she is quite struck with the old knight, and smiles a bit giving him a head nod.

"
To Brom!"
Jon happily joins Dunstan's toast. Would that it were always this easy with you, my boy. Let's hope it doesn't get you into any trouble...
OOC: I have what I was aiming for, unless Dunstan wants to talk to Jon about something else?
