[Day 4: Round 2] Knight of Stones v Ser Addam Tarly
The Knight of Stones is making a show out of repetition. He arrives in the same gear and horse as before, with a raised fist as he rides on to his assistants and without uttering a single word. This time, however, he looks to the smallfolk as well as the nobles when passing.
He silently takes his lance from a youth by the armories, sets it on place and rides low, with a careful placement of body, shield and horse.
[OOC: Defensive +2
Passive Ride: 16+2=18
Health: 12
Armor Rating: 8
Forgot about the ransom of last round. How much is it?]

Re: [Day 4: Round 2] Knight of Stones v Ser Addam Tarly
Ser Addam Tarly is the third son of a lesser branch of one of the Reach's noble families. Born too far from the main line to rule or ever wield the family's mighty Valyrian blade Heartsbane, Ser Addam is young but already a promising tourney knight.
Currently seeking a master to swear his sword to, he has already made a strong impression with an elegant victory in the first round. Indeed his performance in the first round underlined his status as second only to the famed Ser Alyane Tarly among his house.
He snaps his visor shut, then shouts House Tarly's war cry "
First in Battle"
as he spurs his mount onwards.
Passive Ride: 16
Health: 9
Armor Rating: 10
Action: : 9d6k4+4 28
Result: 3 DoS = 24 damage, TN 15 to stay in the saddle
[OOC: ouch, very strong roll, sorry. This is why the Seven gave us destiny points...]

Re: [Day 4: Round 2] Knight of Stones v Ser Addam Tarly
The Knight of Stones likewise spurs forward, lance set low and shield raised against the impact.
Ser Addam's aim is peerless, his advance insurmountable. The man's war cry rumbles through the bones of those present, and both his horsemanship and his lance are set for a perfect strike. The sound of the approaching horses is almost dizzying to the Knight, whose acceptable technique seems to be outmatched by Ser Addam on what seems to be one of the Tarly's finest days.
The impact is sickening. While the Knight's lance is shattered to splinters on Ser Addam, it seems that something else might be crushed against the latter's lance, and a stinging and overwhelming pain jolts from the Knight of Stones' shoulder to the rest of his body. Careful listeners could hear him emit a muffled grunt, and the pitch of his voice would sound just a bit higher than it should. He rockets and nearly pivots on his steed, taking a deep breath and holding tight to his rounsey;
the Knight is nearly unhorsed, but a combination of skill and luck miraculously sees him hold onto his saddle.
Ser Addam's luck does not run as high. Despite his excellent - impressive - strike, one of the best seen in the tourney so far, the mystery knight's shattered tourney lance sends him reeling with the splinters. He thumps on the ground and drifts with trained rolls to the side, then rises clutching an arm with the help of nearby attendants, defeated. The Knight of Stones likewise requires the help of assistants to dismount, and, once upon the ground, walks up to his defeated opponent and bows deeply. He then raises his right fist to the audience, his left arm held close to the body to diminish the pain of a shoulder injury. Without a single word, he walks away, limping slowly.
Statistics
24 damage is reduced to 16 by armor. Taking 2 injuries to further reduce that to 8 damage.
Acquiring 1 fatigue to ignore all injuries.
: 4d6k4 16 - with the reduction of 1 by the fatigue, that makes it 15, still a success.
: 8d6k4-2 19 - fatigue reduction makes no difference here.
Spending 1 DP to bestow a -1D on Ser Addam's Ride roll (pre-rolled via PM), and another to bump my own roll, thereby unhorsing him. Phew!

Re: [Day 4: Round 2] Knight of Stones v Ser Addam Tarly
[/scene, Well done to the Knight of Stones for getting out of a bind there! Thanks for the evocative joust description too - Ser Addam's victory felt as inevitable as it did when I made my roll, but it wasn't to be. Please record the two spent destiny points on your character sheet - see PM for while it costs two - essentially, need 2x DOS and -1D penalty to get him to fail.
