Wren Empty [D6, Early Evening] The Troupe of Casque & Wren

Post by Reader Sat May 23, 2015 7:37 pm

The Troupe of Casque and Wren
After the tensions the erupted at yesterday’s debate, tonight offers more relaxing fare. The famous Troupe of Casque and Wren offers Dragonfire as tonight's play, with something for everyone – strong female characters for the Black supporters, a charismatic male lead and Andal history for the Greens.
Past troubles are forgotten, as the talented performers draw their audience in to discussing the play and striking up new friendships. However, given the nature of the piece and the feelings stirred up by yesterday's debate, there are opportunities for the sly and mischievous to turn attendees against one another.

The current master of the Casque and Wren, Cyrol Barleg, tries to tailor the performances to the audience. Tales of Jerrold Blackbow are popular among the smallfolk, for example, while classical plays and histories are more popular among the nobility. The popularity of the troupe allows Barleg to have his pick of performers in the Riverlands, and many lesser minstrels hope to catch his eye and win a spot among the Casque and Wren’s vaunted ranks.
The Casque and Wren takes its name from an ancient tradition, where a wren is drowned in a casque of fine wine to hasten the end of winter. Given grandmaester Orwyle's faction carried the day in the conclave, the play opens with the ceremonial drowning of a wren, to avert the cold snap he was predicted.

Participants: as many per house as desired.

Challenges:
Choose to target a high status character (4+) or a relatively low status character (3 or less). Note this in your roll please, no fudging it after the fact.
- High status: Roll Status (Breeding) TN 12, then a simple intrigue at TN 12. Very high status characters cannot be targeted [7+]
- You may only target a character with an indifferent (or poorer) disposition towards you.
- Low status: Roll Awareness (empathy) TN 9, then a simple intrigue at TN 9.
- You may forgo your own rolls to assist another character.
- This is an ideal opportunity for those who want to pursue a marriage with a minor noble (status 3) or a grander guest (status 4+) to get the ball rolling, plus whatever schemes you can come up with.

Consequences
- Improve the targeted character's disposition towards you to Amiable, or lower it towards another character (including Npcs) by one, or undo another character's attempted disposition lowering.
- Each character may only be targeted with the disposition lowering option once towards any given character (e.g. All of you an target to lower Ser Rickard Thorne's disposition towards various people by one step, but you can't gang up to drive his ire against the same target).
- You can adjust your choice at the end of the day if someone else targets you later, to stop people waiting.
- Highest total across both rolls (not DoS) is the toast of the evening and earns +1 glory.

Hello Lord Petyr Mallister, I am septon arlyn of house dulver. I have ministered to the small folk of your his about three years ago when I was traveling as a begging brother through your lands.
: 4d6 12

I was wondering if the need arises if you could be of assistance to the small folk in another region. I'm sure that the gods and men would speak kindly of your fair and just deeds.

Post by Dunstan Tullison Sun May 24, 2015 7:29 pm

Dunstan enjoyed the play immensely, laughing the loudest of the entire crowd and giving a nice standing ovation by the end. Afterwards he walked around and greeted people left and right, when he spotted Ser Eoric Tully among the crowd. Remembering the heir wore a black linen favor during the joust, the young Lord decided it might be a very good idea to finally meet him formally and exchange a few words. Besides gaining a formidable acquaintance, Dunstan knew he had a younger sister, with the last name Tully, and bore a dash of hope for a chance to maybe open up a possibility to increase the reputation of House Tullison by joining families with their liege lords. These marriages for alliances seem to be necessary, so why shouldn't he aim that high, he is Dunstan after all!

"
My Lord, pleasure to finally meet you! We saw each other briefly in the Great Hall, but never had the chance to shake hands. I'm Lord Dunstan of House Tullison, forever at your service."
he said in a friendly manner.

"
You rode well in the joust, I watched with great pleasure! I hope you and your family is well my Lord."

They stayed and chatted for some time, and Dunstan threw in a few subtle hints toward support for the Blacks, and a few words of praise towards Lady Heloise Tully's virtues.

Post by Athelstan Mon May 25, 2015 5:31 pm

Athelstan had fun watching the play, a different experience for an ironborn that he was grateful to have. A loud drunken lout laughter is heard above all, Athelstan can't help but rolls his eyes it had to be him looking at lord Dunstan and shaking his head, but then again who cares. Waving hello to the Mallisters from his position knowing full well it would more than sour and ruin their moment, while it would make Athelstan's all the sweeter I saw this beautiful woman while I was jousting in blues and whites, were is she now scouring the audience and there she was, they might seem to be minor lords but that does not matter to him in fact it might play to his advantage.

"
My lady, it is an honor to finally meet you, I've seen you during the joust amongst the crowd, but never had the actual chance to come and speak to you until now"
taking her hand and giving it a gentle kiss "
I'm Athelstan of House Longshore and more than honored to meet you"
he said in his best charming

He remained by her side and got her to start chatting and invite her to the masque ball later on, and Athelstan spoke of the sea and how could House Cox can improve their fortunes more than anything trying to seduce Elize Cox, in the hopes to form an alliance with House Longshore.

Post by Kevan Lyras Mon May 25, 2015 7:45 pm

Kevan followed the play very excited. He loved the spectacular staging. When the show was over, he stood up and applauded, together with the whole crowd, chuckling at Lord Dunstan's outburst. He stood up, and on the way out, he recognized Lady Sofia Blackwood, who was also following the show, despite the recent happenings.

"
Lady Sofia Blackwood? I am Ser Kevan Lyras. I'd like to offer my sympathy, after all what happend these past days..."

However, the noble lady was clearly still traumatized about what happened earlier and barely recognized Kevan, before she quickly left.

Post by Yoren longshore Tue May 26, 2015 2:03 pm

Yoren had great plans for the evening, he was getting to watch a play AND helping his sister all in one go! He tapped Lord Hawick on the shoulder: "
Get away from me you freak ironborn!"
Hawick shouts to him, Yoren takes the queue and leaves, feeling a little dumbfounded at that reaction, and a little wounded that the man did not even want to speak to him...

Post by Loreia Tue May 26, 2015 5:11 pm

Loreia gets up to grab a drink from one of the servers instead of calling them over - such was her way - and sat down one seat over from the Tullys' men, the closest being the reclusive 'Bean'. "
Excuse me, ser. Bean, is it? My friends over there tell me you're an unrivaled marksman in these parts...perhaps sometime you could show me how to shoot properly? It's not exactly my strong suit."

She attempts to steer the conversation towards the blacks. From that point on, she plans to turn it towards highlighting House Coldbrook's strengths as a northern house that supports the blacks, and then possibly towards the problem with legitimizing Lord Coldbrook's bastard.

Baelon approaches a man with hefty arms, hard hands, and a scowling disposition: Michal Growne.
"
Good evening, Master Michal. My name is Baelon Waters, Perhaps you have heard of me? I hear that you are a weaponsmith beyond compare. I was hoping that after this play you would show me some of your wares? I have a surfeit of funds from the joust, and I am in the market for a high-grade sword."

Corrine, with Ellie in tow, each with a cup of wine in one hand, and a lemon cake in the other, sidle up next to Loreia. Corrine had also spotted Bean, and wished to speak with him.

"
Hello again, Loreia. Greetings, Ser. I apologise for interrupting, but your performance in the archery contest was remarkable. Well done! You could teach many of the marksmen here a thing or two!"

Theomore eases his way through the crowd towards a man he wishes to ingratiate himself with. Perhaps aided in these efforts by the desires of the man's lady cousin, certainly did seem as if so. He was going to disappoint her by not discussing the matters she probably would like him to, but while that particular topic may come up before the end of the tourney, there was other matters more pressing, and for this, he might require the good will of Lord Forrest Frey, and for that purpose he seizes the opportunity the play have produced to strike up pleasant conversation.

Ellie excuses herself from Loreia and Corrine's conversation with Bean to go find Ben. She catches up to him as he is approaching Lady Kerry Bracken. She puts her arm through his and gives her most charming smile.

Ben is a bit surprised by Ellie's arrival but pleased none the less.

"
Lady Kerry. Good evening. I hope you have been enjoying the show."
Ben bows formally as Ellie curtsies.

The Lady manages a quick nod and a "
Yes very much."
Before being swept away by her septa. Who gives Ben a scowl.

Gwyneth sees an opportunity when she spies Sofia Blackwood attending the mummer's play. It wasn't easy catching her out of seclusion, and she wastes no time finding a moment to appear by her side.

"
It's a very entertaining spectacle, isn't it?"
she inquires jovially. "
I wasn't going to come at first, but one of my House's bannermen recommended I come see it. You may have heard of him;
he's been doing very well in the joust. Kevan Lyras."

Post by Daveth Coldbrook Sun May 31, 2015 6:49 pm

(OOC: The following isn't confirmed until Reader confirms Kieran Orell's presence, but thought I'd roll for it anyway.)

Daveth takes a chair next to the captain of the Coldbrook personal guard, Captain Kieran Orell. "
Captain Orell. Interesting play, wasn't it? Fairly old, as I understand it. I suppose that's how you can be assured of its quality. Something poorly made would never last so long, it would fade from memory and into oblivion. But something well-made, and well-maintained? Well, that can truly last a full lifetime and be even more valuable then than it was before. After all, physical talent is something many young men have naturally, but the knowledge and wisdom to apply it correctly is something that can only be earned through a lifetime of effort."
Daveth looks over at the old captain. "
I know where my weaknesses lie, Captain. It would be a foolish man indeed who would dismiss a wealth of knowledge that could compensate for that simply over some well-justified caution.

"
And trust me when I say that I am not a fool."
Except over women.

[D6, Early Evening] The Troupe of Casque &
Wren Raff.png

Raff is now wearing the mask of Ser Robb Waters, oh, merely some hedge knight latching on to the royal procession in the hope that someone might have need of a spare sword, should be good hope for that, considering the times, no? His mark of the evening is Ser Martyn Rivers, a most interesting of characters. Bastard of the beast of Bracken, or claiming to be. Lord Haig is said to have set the dogs on him when he announced himself, desiring to squire for one of his knights, leaving him scarred to this day. In a rather interesting twist in the blood feud between Raventree Hall and Stone Hedge, Lord Blackwood took the man as squire for one of his own knights, for the resemblance to the beast, both in looks and in strength was rather obvious, and so his knighting became an easy slight towards Lord Haig.

Ser Martyn also had inherited a certain passion from his father and this Raff sees the opportunity to seize upon. He talks about the girl, Alysanne Rivers, a most delightful lady to look upon, that he wants to impress so that she might agree to marry him. Ah, but Ser Robb knows exactly how she might be suitably impressed, once Ser Martyn points her out. Ser Niall Lucas has been overly bothersome towards that one, you see....apparently, bastards such as ourselves are looked upon as fair game by the high and mighty men born on the proper side of sheet, born out of lust and love as it were. But Ser Martyn is a knight, is he not? If he were to challenge Ser Niall to a duel, and win of course, then she would no doubt be quite grateful that the man is put in his proper place, and her protector would have the most opportune moment to catch her heart....or maybe Ser Robb is merely a hopeless romantic, who knows?
