Ser Jorah entered the library again, but considering his previous efforts, he had arranged for some help this time.

Daveth arrived a couple of steps after Ser Jorah, and, well-familiar with the routine by now, located Pate the Scribe, and tried cajoling him with promises of the books on swordfighting ending up as well-categorised as the books on ravens now were.

Assistance secured, Daveth begins his own hunt.

...but sadly, his lack of attention to martial matters cripples his ability to make progress.

Septon Arlyn arrived while Ser Jorah and Daveth were trying to hunt down the elusive book, shortly after their search began, Having slept in from the late night of night of feasting to be had from the festival. "
Good afternoon Ser Jorah, Master Daveth. So what progress have you made so far?"

"
Not much"
daveth replied

"
Here let me have a look"
replied the Septon

"
I think that I might have found something! Curse these unorganized castle libraries"
bringing over a stack of books and placing them onto the table they were studying over. "
If only we had a system to organize these books uniformly, it would greatly increase our speed of searching."
, replied the septon, giving Ser Jorah a big jovial grin and patting him on the back.

(OOC: Appreciate you helping Ser Jorah, but I believe that to find the 'correct' book in this vast hall, we need 6 successes at TN12. Currently, we have 2 (maybe 3 if your 2DoS counts as 2 successes, I'm not sure. Reader?))

"
I should probably introduce myself properly."
he extends a hand to the Septon. "
Master Daveth Coldbrook. A pleasure to meet you."

Have I found what I'm looking for?

To know that, you have to know what it is you seek. Do you?

Images flash through Daveth's head. The peace with the Tullisons, his investigations into Ser Theomore, the deal with the Marstens, even Lady Dyana. All part of it, but none of them quite right. Then his eyes momentarily settle on an isolated corner of the library, before flicking back to the Septon.

"
Yes."
he says, in a quietly confident voice. "
I have.

"
And you, Septon?"
in a more normal tone. "
How goes the tourney for you?"

"
It goes well. I have garnered little support but so far its more then I have been expecting. Its always good to see the knights and nobles come together and support those less fortunate then themselves."
replied the septon. My he is a quite fellow, thought the septon,"
So I have heard from the small folk you are quite the learned man, in fact they said that you apparently made such convincing arguments that you actually made some of the maesters stop speaking for a whole minute!"
The septon laughs heartily. "
So did you have a master of your own that you learned from?"

Daveth smiles at the comment about the maesters. "
I was fortunate in the amount of information I'd been able to uncover beforehand on the subject. If it weren't a subject I were so well-prepared in, I doubt it would have gone so well.

"
And no. I've learned bits and pieces from various maesters as I could, but I'm mostly self-taught from experiments and books."

Watching as the two men, young and old, went to work, did Jorah's heart proud, especially as he managed to enter completely the wrong stacks.

"
Young Daveth here has the will and dedication to teach himself almost any subject."

with a smile towards Ser Jorah. "
I feel I gain at least as much from Ser Jorah as he does from me."

"
Aye boy, you do yourself a discervce. All men can serve the seven, and not everyone can be a warrior. If we were all warriors, Whom would Judge us? who would guard and teach our children? Who would arm those that call themselves the warriors? Who would teach the warriors from the light and the dark, Whom would the mighty knights fight for? and whom would guide the warrior when his time has past back to the eternal resting place? Just as you may not be able to swing a sword those that can test the weather and guess correctly can save thousands if not hundred of thousands of lives. Just as the warrior must protect the crone the crone must share her knowledge and save us from the dark paths. Your conversation with the maesters may save thousands of smallfolk from a death of cold and hunger, Never underestimate the power of knowledge."

Daveth's mouth quirks into a smile. "
But that is just my point, Septon. While I do not view it using the same terms, I'm able to stand strong because I have Ser Jorah beside my as my shield. Sometimes he's my shield against attacks from outside, other times he's a shield against my own mistakes and limitations. Either way, he's a rock I can count on absolutely. You can view it as Warrior and Crone, or foundation and tower, or any number of other ways, but the point is the same - we're stronger, and able to accomplish more, together than either of us could do apart."
a chuckle "
Even if it seems most of what I do for him personally involves simply patching up his injuries.

"
So, to simply say that he surrounds himself with men of quality only gives half the story. He's a true man of quality himself."

I agree, pardon me if it felt like an insult. Nay I must say that it takes a man of wisdom, and quality, to be so introspective as to know what he himself is lacking and to trust someone else's judgment, rather than relying on his own. Ser Jorath is a goodly man. I hope that the seven will bless him in his endeavors.

Pate was more familiar with the library than Daveth, and made more luck in his search, turning up fragments of helpful passages in various tomes.

How does the late morning of tomorrow work for you, I assume you may want to watch the joust and that will give us a few hours to recover after the party tonight.

OOC we know that you will be riding back but ic we can make that plan and have things come up
