"
We're gathering at first light, and leaving very shortly thereafter. Unsurprisingly we are supposed to be there by the seventh hour of the day. Somebody involved is seriously lacking imagination or has descended into fetishism over the number itself... they certainly don't follow the teachings of their faith."

"
Hmm,"
Gwyn hmms. It strikes her that someone either IS a feckless zealot, or knows how to sound like one. Not terribly hard. It could just be embellishment. A bit of theater.
"
What happens if you go early? Say, by the sixth? Or fifth? It does say by the seventh, after all. Maybe you can arrive first and seize the advantage?"

"
Not a bad plan... though riding hard in the dark of pre-dawn hours has it's own share of dangers, and getting everyone to arrive earlier than already planned may not be possible at this late hour. As it is, we are meeting in about four or five hours."

"
Come by my tent before you leave,"
decides Gwyn. "
I want to send something with you."
She sighs. "
And I suppose I'd better talk to Corrine and Isobel and the others now rather than later. They'll be more reasonable before going to sleep than they would be awakened early."

"
It shouldn't be an overly complicated encounter, but the soldiers we take still need a good night's rest. As do I, to be honest."
Dyana sighs, looking longingly at Gwyn for a moment. "
Baelon is right. You shouldn't linger in the camp after most of our contingent leaves. I'll make sure to assign some men to stay with you until the bulk of us return. Jorgan, for sure. And Dallen. Man has eyes like a hawk."
She nods more to herself than anything, referring to some of her most trusted guardsmen. Men who rode with her against the mountain clans.
"
I will have an unit armed and ready by first light, Ser Baelon. We will ride shortly after you do, and follow close pursuit. I'll keep an ear out for the sound of your horn, but I hold that having a squire ready to bolt away is a good contingency. We are in the dark here, and when you don't know what to expect, you prepare for the worst."
Dyana sighs, presses her fingers between her eyes, and shakes her head in contempt.
She looks up again, wearier than when she'd arrived. "
If that is all, I must go and catch up with my rest. I'll leave you to your preparations."

Thank you, Dyana. I feel much better knowing you will be watching our backs."

"
Dyana,"
said Gwyn as her sister turned to leave. That little lilt came into her voice, that teasing tunefulness. "
How did your meeting with Daveth go?"

Dyana's voice is only less somber than the expression on her face. "
Now is not the time, Gwyn. I'm sorry."
She takes a deep breath, perhaps resentful of being so curt to her little sister, but leaves under heavy steps anyway. "
Until the morrow."

Gwyn shakes her head with a little sigh, then looks back at Baelon.
"
Remember. Come to me before you go. And...I know I don't have to tell you this, but keep your eyes open. An enemy is never more dangerous than when hiding in the dark."

"
I will, on both counts."
He takes her face into his hands and kisses her deeply, passionately.
"
I have only just found my place in life, I do not intend to leave it before I've fully settled in."

Gwyn went on her toes to press into the kiss, quickly snaking her own arms around Baelon's shoulders as well. Before either of them are ready to end it though, she turns her head to one side.
"
I want to stay here tonight,"
she said softly, "
But then you wouldn't get the sleep Dyana thinks you need. And I need to arrange our evacuation as well...so..."
She kissed his cheeks, and his nose, all quick little pecks.
"
You'll have something else to come back for then, won't you?"

"
As if just seeing your face again weren't reason enough..."
His finger traces the curve of her cheekbone up from her mouth towards her ear, then down her jawline to her chin. Unable to resist, he kisses her once more.
"
... but you are right. Come, let's get these letters written so I can get some sleep. It's good that I slept some after my joust earlier... I had expected to be up a few more hours yet at the ball."

(OOC - Did you want to RP the letter writing? I'm good either way, but if not, this is a good scene marker. If so, we shall continue! )

OOC: nah, even if Reader wants actual letter text it would be much faster and easier to do it OOC than IC. I say we just 'fast-forward' to the letters being finished and RP our good-nights... or just call it here and /scene. Whichever you prefer.
