[OOC: Ser Lionel Darry dies, burning a destiny point if necessary to seal his fate. No need to drag out an ineffectual combat with him taking wounds sufficient to kill him.

- A couple of woodsman and the knight that yielded to Baelon are taken prisoner. Loreia and the rearguard circle round and cut them off. Technically you lot can choose the defeat results, but this gives us a reasonable mix of prisoners and fatalities.

Loreia et al are welcome in this thread now (you may want to move it to mid-morning for the debrief. Dunstan will continue to narrate for Marei]

As Ser Lionel gurgled blood as he lay on the ground, Jorah tried to staunch his wounds.

"
After everything you have done, you don't get to die like this."

As his last breath escaped him, Jorah kicked the ground in anger.

"
Dammit, I wanted him alive. He needed to pay for his crimes, but not with an honourable death."

Now that the battle has settled down, the horse Jorah is riding is definitely not the one he rode in the tourney.

Post by Daveth Coldbrook Wed Jun 03, 2015 11:57 pm

Daveth finally arrives up the hill with the last of the horses, and hefts his maester's bag off his horse onto his shoulder. "
Right. Who's first?"
as he looks around. Ser Jorah, Lord Tullison, Ser Baelon, Ser Benedict. All alive. Good. Ser Theomore still alive? Well, can't have everything.

He doesn't actually seem disturbed by the carnage around him, looking at the bodies and the injuries with a distant, professional air.

(OOC: If someone can tell me how many rolls I need to make, I'll do them tomorrow.)

Loreia arrives before Daveth with the cavalry-turned-footsoldiers led by her and Dyana. Taking a moment to count up their prisoners, she comments offhandedly, "
Headsman's goin' to be busy once the tourney's wrapped up. Don't suppose they'll bother waitin' for the crows to come, now."

Daveth Coldbrook wrote:Daveth finally arrives up the hill with the last of the horses, and hefts his maester's bag off his horse onto his shoulder. "

Upon Daveth's arrival and prompt inquiry towards any injured, Loreia points toward the lord of House Tullison."
You'd better go and have a look at Lord Dunstan, milord."

She approaches the horse Marei may be riding* to calm it, then offers the young girl a hand. "
It's done, you can relax. Are you hurt?"

+1 assist persuasion vs Marei

*She may have fallen flat the moment the horse bolted, lol. She may have overheard something useful. You sure you don't want to roll Will(Courage) to see how you fare at the sight of blood and corpses, Daveth??*

Marei looks at the warrior woman with a frightened gaze and says nothing.
Baelon caught her and landed her on the ground previously. Now she is next to Dunstan, silent and frightened and silent.

Dunstan pays no mind to Lionels death. He approaches the next captured knight

''How did you know? Who gave the order,?!?!!'' He continues to shout, warhammer in his hands

[OOC: The horse didn't bolt, Marei didn't fall, and Baelon didn't catch her. There was only fighting next to the horse for 1 round (as marked at the Horse's initiative). Then I cut her bonds and thus she could guide the horse away... I'm sure even she could make the TN 0 check.]

"
Dunstan, you're not going to get anything out of him if you cave his head in."

He turns to the knight.
"
Surely you can see that you have brought dishonor to yourself, violated the oaths of knighthood, and abused the tenets of your faith. Surely you should desire a way to atone for your sins before you are judged by the Father? Tell us what you know, and perhaps you can seek atonement serving at the wall."

Ben approaches Dunstan and Baelon. Removing his helm, he places a hand on Dunstan's good shoulder and leans close to speak. "
My Lord, what of Marei? Do you intend to still send her to the Mountains Reach? We could send what men we have here. Perhaps with Ser Mathers in charge."
Ben hoped to focus Dunstan attention away from the fire.

He then levels his eyes on the knight, Baelon was speaking with. He gives the man a smile of pity. Take his advice, it will save us time and you pain.

*Consider this her immediate reaction, and then you can respond to Benedict in turn.*

"

Loreia shouts his honorific to get his attention, then jerks her head in a sideways nod toward the frightened girl. "

(OOC: I am a healer, with a *specialty* in Treat Injury. If I went queasy at the sight of blood &
dead bodies, I'd never be able to do my job. Like I said in the planning thread, what turns Daveth's stomach is the *violence*. If I'd shown up while the fight was still ongoing, I'd totally roll. Now? No.)

Loreia Merrgal wrote:"

Daveth looks over at Lord Dunstan's current agitated state. "
...You know what, I think I'll let him finish what he's doing first, *then* treat him."
and instead turns to Ser Jorah.

If there's anyone standing about looking at a loose end (except Ser Theomore), Daveth will request that they hand him supplies as he works. (Basically soliciting a +1 assist bonus.)

(OOC: Right. Never healed anyone before. As far as I can tell from the rules, this kind of swift 'battlefield medicine' isn't actually covered, but it makes sense to clean &
bind wounds ASAP, so I'm just rolling Heal(Treat Injury), and assuming most of the effect is non-mechanical.

Ignoring the other knights trying to interrogate their captive peer, Jon steps over to the captive woodsmen, making sure to bring a wineskin.

"
Here lads, you two look like you could use a drink,"
he says in a sympathetic voice, giving each of them a taste of the wine. Eyeing them carefully as they drink, Jon shakes his head sorrowfully and sighs, "
Listen lads, you know this isn't going to end well for either of you, right? Lord Dunstan - the angry young man with the warhammer - has been empowered by Lord Tully to enact his lordship's justice on anyone involved in this ugly business, and the soldier whose head Ser Lionel sent him was an old and valued servant of his. Dunstan took that very personally, and now his blood is up, so I don't think he's feeling very merciful."

"
Now I'm not going to pretend I have any sympathy for what you've done, but I grew up in Flea Bottom, so I know what it's like to be at the bottom of the heap - to be used and shit on by them what thinks they're better than the rest of us. And because of that, I'm going to offer you both a deal. Tell me where to find the rest of the guardsmen that were escorting the girl, and I'll speak to Dunstan on your behalf - see if I can get him to let you take the black. Or, you can keep your mouths shut, and I guarantee that you'll hang."

: 6d6k5 22 to improve the woodsmen's dispositions towards Jon.
: 5d6k4 10 to get them to tell where the rest of the Tullison soldiers who were escorting Marei are being held.

Ser Jorah moved up to Lord Tullison and spoke quietly in his ear, his hand gently on his shoulder.

"
Lord Tullison, I think your lady could do with your presence. The rest of us she does not know and she has been through an awful lot."
He then spoke a little louder, so that the captives could hear, "
I think leaving these fools to Ser Baelon and Ser Jon will have the effect you desire."
With that, he gave a knowing smile at the Faith Militant to unnerve them a little. They were already wary of the man who had killed their leader in single combat.

(ooc +1 assist to Ser Jon interrogating the captives)

Ser Jorah moved away from Lord Tullison for Daveth to check and bind his wounds. His ribs were aching something fierce and even after Daveth ministered to him, he knew he would not be in top shape for the next day's melee.

"
Thank you Daveth. How are you finding your first sight of this sort of carnage?"

ooc
That's enough for Ser Jorah to recover 1 injury as he will have to ride, so its a challenging (12) target.

Panting slightly from the exertion and still regretting having to leave the horses behind, Dyana nods, taking the scene in. "
Yeah, I... damn, this is all a bloody mess."
She narrows her gaze at Marei as the others go see to her, then glances at Daveth producing bandages and finally at the victorious knights.

"
Where is Darry? Is he dead?"

Who knows who ordered this ville act, i think it's best if she is to go back home. In Riverrun, someone might try to strike her again"
he said.

Than, Dunstan turned to Marei and led her to sit beneath the tree, comforting her and giving her some water. After he made sure she feels better, he gave her some food too, and stayed by her side, embracing her in a hug. She was still sobbing but Dunstan kept telling her everything will be alright now, because she is safe and the bad people are all defeated.

(OOC: Ah, neat. I thought I had to do work for hours before I had that effect.)

Daveth looks around. "
It's ... fresher than I'm used to, I admit."
his eyes settle on one of the dead, head half-severed. An image came to Daveth's mind of exactly how the sword struck the man to cause that wound, turning his stomach slightly. He turns away swiftly, and takes a couple of deep breaths, before he does what he always does to avoid thinking about things he'd rather not and buries himself in his work, turning back to Ser Jorah's injuries. "
But it's not like any of the wounds I can see are life-threatening. That's the worst. When it's someone you know, and you're not good enough to save them. This?"
a gesture towards the dead without looking at them. "
What are they to me?"

After asking Marei is she alright numerous times, and making sure she in fact, has no injuries, Dunstan looks at Daveth and says.

"
I've got these two scratches from when one of them bastards hit me, but they are noth.... Agh!"
he tries to lift his arm but can't do that from the pain.

"
It's nothing really, just a small injury"
, he reveals two nasty looking cuts on his shoulder.

Daveth doesn't laugh at the young lord's bravado. "
As you say, Lord Tullison, just a scratch, but I would not give these brigands even the slightest victory if I am able, and the discomfort your well-earned wounds gives you is the biggest victory they have remaining.

"
While no doubt your maester can do a proper job on your return, let's get this wound cleaned and bound up, and give you a little something to"
dull the pain "
encourage swift healing."

He turns behind him "
Ser Jorah, could you hand me things as I ask for them, please?"

You're welcome, Lord Tullison. And for what it's worth, and consider that I have considerable bias here, I think that could be a worthy idea. I'm coming to the conclusion that perhaps the ideal Lord is a generalist, taking advice from the specialists he surrounds himself with."

Daveth's eyebrows raise slightly. "
Ser Benedict is still your advisor?"
he shakes his head dismissively. "
No, never mind."
He opens his mouth as if to explain the difference between 'listen' and 'understand', but then closes it again. Things are going well at the moment, and he's taken ludicrous offence over nothing before. Best not to tempt fate. "
Of course, Lord Tullison. I didn't mean to imply otherwise.

"
As for Garret"
a slight emphasis on the name, in a brighter tone "
he should be up from his sickbed by now, finally. I intend to speak with him about the matter on my return. I don't like to make decisions regarding him without having discussed them with him first, as I'm sure you can understand."
