Yeah, there's some wiggle room in the Marsten line, I think. It's an old family, and they tend to have a lot of branches.

Thanks Dunstan! Took me a bit of editing to get to that point. The original picture was so red and saturated it seemed like she was somewhere between Dorne and Hell.

Talking to Reader some more, I'm sure I'll be able to get a reasonable place in the family. My ambitions aren't big. The only issue is coming up with the marriage status.

I remember that portrait from NWN... it was red, that is true. Nonetheless, it was one of the best looking available in the vanilla game. Eh, nostalgia Laughing

Yve will come in due time, I'm sure. It's just... Dyana isn't Yve, and no amount of adjusting would make her so. xP

That pic is from NWN? I didn't know, I just found it on google images after some searches for portraits and thought it looked appropriate. Could be a bit more blonde, but eh, you get what you get, right?

Strawberry blond is still blond, right? (You can also argue it's red which is even better :;

Not at all! I don't think she wanted to be regent;
if Corben had a living, available brother or uncle, I suspect he would have been regent.
She would have fought tooth and nail if he tried to supplant Corrine as heir, but those are two very different things.

Theomore Tullison wrote:He's no stone, he's just Gareth.
Oy, not this again. Whether he has noble blood or not, he has the name;
it's not because "
GR once again didn't do their diligence"
, it's because the custom is not as strict as you think it is. He was raised in the castle, educated alongside Corrine and Gwyneth, and is the spitting image of Mikael, to those that knew him in his younger days. Of course people are going to think he is Mikael's bastard and call him Stone.

I don't think I want her to be married, after all. How to avoid Isobel's meddling, then? Hmm...

From the Citadel link you posted in this very thread. to my response which quotes a relevant passage. I'm done now, this isn't worth arguing over three or four times in the same thread.

Gareth would need to claim Mikael as his father to use the name of Stone. Else he's just some boy showing up on the doorstep of the sept. That he grows up so that people can see who his father is and going to the step of claiming that parentage is not the same thing, I don't get the impression that Gareth actually has done so.

Everyone assumes he's the son of a noble and calls him Gareth Stone, rather than Gareth the foundling, for the sake of simplicity! Smile

Who started this practice, and encourages it? Well....

Names have little to do with those who bear them, unless they are living under an assumed identity. A name is what others call you, not what you call yourself. That's why people who try to give themselves 'cool' nicknames or epithets generally just look ridiculous. Gareth Stone is 'Gareth Stone' because that is what he is called. Thus the bastard name has little to do with anything that Gareth himself is claiming - it has to do with what others believe/claim about him.

Well I figure this is the right thread.

I'm looking for a ironborn trader, and will take on the Longshores as the underdog House for the few post I have already seen so far, as they are the oddballs also.

One character keeps digging a deeper hole thinking that his weird ways and defiance of the Old Way will make him heir.

The other one is a lost puppy, that doesn't really know if he wants to be Heir or not.

So I seek to bring the beat stick to keep them in line, and hopefully not have to beat some sense to them, while also digging into the other PC's er... I meant westerosi Houses pockets for fair trade contracts among the riverlands with the Longshore and themselves of course...
