[Day 7, MN] Sing me back home (Open)
I met my love by the mountains at night
Dreamed a dream by the old smithy
Kissed a girl by the castle wall
Dirty old Inn, Dirty old Inn
Clouds a drifting across the moon
Cats a prowling on their beat
Spring's a girl in the street at night
Dirty old Inn Dirty old Inn
I Heard a siren from the docks
Saw a Moon set the night on fire
I Smelled the spring on the smoky wind
Dirty old Inn, Dirty old Inn
I'm gonna make me a good sharp axe
Shining steel tempered in the fire
Will chop you down like an old dead tree
Dirty old Inn, Dirty old Inn
Dunstan sang with two whores from the brothel and many, many patrons. A mountain of empty tankards was in front of them, and only more full ones kept coming. When the night started he was in a gloomy mood, but as it progressed he started talking more and more, but even now, this late into the night, he did not have a smile but a frown on his face.
Smashing tankards on the floor diligently he fooled around with the black haired wenches and payed for drinks to the one-legged Asten (healers had to cut his leg), Big Tom and Cregan the Liar - a man of many unlikely tales.
OOC: I miss those tavern threads, as always, all are welcome to join.

Re: [Day 7, MN] Sing me back home (Open)
A short time into the midnight hour, the guard Alyn came calling on Ben. He stirred from sleep, finding Ellie curled up behind him. He slid quietly from the bed, meeting Alyn at the tent entrance.
"
What is it?"
He wipes the cold from his eyes, yawning wide.
Alyn worriedly shifts back and forth form his good knee to his bad. "
You might want to get to the Huntsman Ser. Lord Dunstan's in his cups and looking none to happy."
Ben dresses hurriedly, opting to carry his scabbarded longsword in hand.
He enters the Huntsman to the calls of the many familiar faces. Nodding to each in turn, he then hones in on Dunstan. There he was surrounded by his men ... and two whores. Shits sake. What one does in private is one thing, but here in the Huntsman...

"
Ben!"
Dunstan calls out his old friend.
"
Come Ben, sit down with us, Cregan was just telling us a tale how he slew a giant! Imagine that!"

"
Good evening my Lord."
Ben moves to the table taking a seat close to Dunstan, noticing the many tankards.
"
My lord, I am a bit taken aback that I was not invited out this evening."
His eyes falling on the two dark haired girls. "
Though I am also relieved that you did not."
He grins mischievously.
He gives a Dunstan a inquiring look, one eyebrow raised. "
Perhaps this is a party best continued at 'The Painted World' or the pavilions. I am sure these two young lasses would love to see a Lords tent."
He gives him a wink. This is not the place for this Dunstan. "
I have a bottle of Black Tar rum in my tent. If your stomach is strong enough."
He turns his attention to Dunstan's companions. "
You girls ever seen a Lords tent or drank black tar rum?"

"
Why, I was thinking you'll be busy with the new affairs you have. Ever since Corrine you've been absent, and look at that pretty new clothes of yours!"
Dunstan was teasing.
"
If it is black tar rum you desire, I'm sure Masha has it in store somewhere! Mahsa!"
he yelled, "
Some rum for Ben here!"

Well played Dunstan.
He laughs at Dunstan's jest at this new attire. Settling back into his chair he nods to Masha in acceptance of Dunstan offer.
Today he has tasted real battle and had to send his love away, let him find some relief. Besides the damage is done. Just keep it from spiralling out of control Ben.
When his drink arrives he raises it high in salute. "
To Sam!"
As the voices joining in lowers Ben looks to Dunstan, with an apologetic gaze. "
I am sorry if I have been absent, my Lord."

"
To Sam!"
The odd vagabonds gathered at the table all repeat cheer for Sam too, even though half of them probably do not know who he is - they liked the free drinks and tended to do whatever pleased Dunstan.
"
Don't worry about it Ben. And Drop that Lord, you will be a Lord yourself soon, and I don't want our relationship to become a meaningless flurry of etiquette and bpws. The hell with etiquette"
he laughs.
"
It was a good thing you did, and you married for love, didn't you? Brought alliance, met a sweet girl, a good thing indeed. I will miss you for sure, and so will Yve I have no doubt, but alas, life goes on."
Dunstan takes a shot of rum.

Ben smiles. "
Here in Dunstan's court I will call you whatever you wish."
As much as he tried to remain stoic a boyish grin of happiness crept onto his face. "
uhm... yes. I did ...I ammarrying for love. You will be missed as well cousin. Very much."
He throws his drink down pouring another.

"
Aye! We are all growing up, and Gods help our foes. Soon enough it will be we who shape the realm, we who fight and bleed for what is right!"
Dunstan was talking sloppily.
"
Let'a drink while we are together, and sing. You know the Valeman Knight?"
he asked and started crooning without waiting for an answer.
On the Second Moon of year fifty and four
We set sail from the sweet cove of the Bite
We were sailing away with a cargo of stone
For the grand city hall in Gulltown
'Twas a wonderful craft, she was rigged fore-and-aft
And oh, how the wild winds drove her.
She'd got several blasts, she'd twenty-seven masts
And we called her the Valeman Knight.
We had one million bales of the best Dornish Red
We had two million barrels of Arbor Gold
We had three million sides of old blind horses hides,
We had four million barrels of ale.
We had five million hogs, we had six million dogs,
Seven million barrels of steel and plate.
We had eight million bails of old nanny goats' tails,
In the hold of the Valeman Knight.
There was awl Clever Jon who played hard on his flute
When the ladies lined up for his set
He was tootin' with skill for each sparkling quadrille
Though the dancers were fluther'd and bet
With his sparse witty talk he was cock of the walk
As he rolled the dames under and over
They all knew at a glance when he took up his stance
And he sailed in the Valeman Knight
There was Three Fingers Roy from the banks of the Peble,
There was Asher from City of Hartshorne
There was Jim the Blade who was scarred stiff of work
And a man from West'erlands called Malone
There was Slugger O'Toole who was drunk as a rule
And fighting Bill Tracey from Dorne
And your man Mik from the banks of the Trident
Was the skipper of the Valeman Knight
We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And the ship lost it's way in a fog.
And that whale of the crew was reduced down to two,
Just meself and the old captain's dog
Then the ship struck a rock, oh Lord what a shock
The bulkhead was turned right over
Turned nine times around, and the poor dog was drowned
I'm the last of the Valeman Knight!

Even with his terrible singing ability Ben joins in, it was a classic. The old classic lightens his mood and reminds him of home. By its end he is beaming.
He quickly throws back his second drink and fills another before him. "
My-Dunstan it has been too long since I heard those lyrics. Lets have another."

Re: [Day 7, MN] Sing me back home (Open)
Dunstan's eyes watered a bit
"
It has been too long. Ever since we were wee bit lads, and you'd come to visit. We'd be fighting with wooden swords and I'd cheat by throwing a log at you. You always did win, that much I remember.Ah..."
Dunstan sighted.
"
We'd sing of Wrecker Jon and Sea Snake.. Remember that time when we sneaked out of the castle and went to Lordsview, to drink with miners until the crack of dawn?!"
Dunstan hugged one of his lady friends.
"
Reckon Dyana might stop by tonight?"
he asked, apparently out of the bloom.

Ben laughs deeply. "
As I recall you had to carry me home that evening. And then cover for me the next morning with Aunt Morraine."
A genuine smile is plastered across his face. "
Lady Dyana, if not sleeping will be entertaining one of her suitors. Our Lord Jon among them."
Ben downs his third rum and laughs boisterously. Then pours again.
"
To many more drinks and we shall go find her and her insatiable appetite."
He follows with more laughter.

"
Aye, and now mother is sick."
the young Lord makes a dour face
"
Ser Jon and Dyana! Seven Hells, everyone is on top of each other this tourney!"
Dunstan jests, lightens the mood and slaps Ben over the shoulder.

Ben pounds another loosing himself in nostalgia and fear of the future. The bottle empties as he sets them up once more. He waves for another.
Ben looks to Dunstan with a grin. "
It looks like you have double the climbing to do."
His gaze passing to the two dark haired girls.

Dunstan wiped his mouth and smirked
"
Aye."
he confirmed "
It's a strenuous work but someone has to do it. Could very well use some help if you're in the mood"
he said.

Re: [Day 7, MN] Sing me back home (Open)
Ben laughs hard, slapping the table. "
Cousin I am honored you would share such beautiful treasures, but I can think of another treasure who would not be pleased with your offer to me. And less pleased with me were I to accept."
Ben leans in closer to Dunstan to try to quietly whisper, through now increasingly slurred words. "
Besides I am a bit sore at the moment from the past few days of climbing."
His left eye snapping shut in a wink and opening a little slower.
He empties his glass and opens the new bottle. A large grin on his face as his thoughts move back to his treasure.
"
To House Tullison. Stone Endures."
he shouts raising his glass, dark liquid sloshing out.

"
Stone Endures"
Dunstan accepts and downs another drink. Filling up another he says,
"
And to House Marsten! Let the Heavens Reign!"
he cheers.
He only gave Ben a nod and a look, for he didn't want to discuss the things few knew, well aware of his lack of subtlety.
"
I saw the meele groups today. You are in with the Kinslayer, Benjen Frey AND Lord Bracken. Please watch out when in there."

"
Let the Heavens Reign."
Ben blinks hard as the drink goes down swiftly.
Ben simply smiles at Dunstan's nod.
His eyes glower at the mention of his melee group. "
Aye, it will be most interesting. Mallister and Blackwood will stem the Bracken and Ironborn dilemma. That leaves Benjen and the Kingsguard. Might I suggest you side with the Coldbrooks to see you to the last few standing. Your group will be more unpredictable and chaotic without all the grudges."

"
Have you talked with Ser Tyron, maybe you can side with him? Mallister and Grell too, it would mean a lot to your own safety. Afterwards you can have a clean fight amongst you."
Dunstan was worried for Ben when he saw the groups. Much more than his own group, which did contain great warriors, but all of them had a clean reputation.
"
As far as for Coldbrooks, I've been hoping to find Ser Jorah in here tonight and talk about the melee. But even if we don't get a chance I'm not concerned, all the men and women in my group are of impeccable name."

"
A fine suggestion, I may have to seek him out in the morning."
Ben is pleased what appears to be his cousins genuine concern for his safety. After this mornings conversation with Corrine it did seem important that he remain safe.
"
Well, perhaps now would be a fine cut off point for me."
He turns his glass over on the table. "
It appears I may have a harder job of remaining unhurt than I first thought."
He smiles warmly at Dunstan his motion a bit uneven.

Ser Jorah entered the inn, cloak draped across him as normal. He was ready to rest, but it had been a stressful day in more ways than one. A drink was needed. As he looked around, he spotted Lord Tullison and Ser Benedict.

Hearing Dunstan's calls, he walked over to the group, making his way through the throng of people. He looked around at the people with Ben and Dunstan, noting the two women, but passed no comment.
