[D8 gauntlet]Time to pay the Piper
Theomore rides in on his courser black as sin, clad in metal with the Tullison arms on his shield and tabard. No salute, no acknowledgement of his opponent, only focus on the task ahead. This is no tourney, this is about a man's life, and Theomore is determined to take it away from him. Some septon stood up to announce something about may the warrior guide the arm of the one who's cause was just.

Re: [D8 gauntlet]Time to pay the Piper
: 9d6k4+3 16 2 DoS for 12 damage after AR, and forcing a TN 12 stay in saddle which he fails due to going High in Saddle and (presumably) only having 2 kept stay in saddle dices, thus taking 22 damage total after AR, and he's unhorsed and prone, and I get to write the death scene if he can't take wounds.

Re: [D8 gauntlet]Time to pay the Piper
[OOC: The bad news - you can only swap out Sinister for Expertise (spears) between story, and as noted in personal forum still not certain on swapping out qualities earned via RP.
Dropping a random kept dice:
: 1d9 8 - one of the ones, so roll only reduced to 15]
The good news:
- Ser Humphrey is only a secondary character and cannot take wounds.
- A war lance is Vicious, so Ser Humphrey is dead. Feel free to narrate his fate.]

Re: [D8 gauntlet]Time to pay the Piper
At the sound of the horn, both men charges against the other. To most it happens in a blur, to Theomore, it seems as if time itself slows down. His lance does not hit the hardest, nor does it need to. The skill of his opponent is far inferior, riding like a girl. A simple twist in the saddle and Ser Humphrey's best efforts amounts to little more than a thud upon Theomore's shield. There is no great finesse involved with Theomore's lance as it strikes, his rondel trained upon Ser Humphrey's head, and the speed and mass of the horse does the rest. A more capable rider might have taken the blow and fought on. Humphrey simply falls into the mud like a sack of turnips, the back of his skull taking the the weight of the rest of him in a most sickening sight.
Theomore wheels around to see the lifeless man on the ground. After taking a few moments to see if there is any sign of twitching, he slides off his steed, draws his sword and uses it to cut the straps fastening Ser Humphrey's gorget, then removes it to lay bare the neck. The man is probably already dead, but there was a way to make sure. He takes careful aim before severing the man's head. Once that is done, he removes his helmet and gives a nod of respect to his fallen foe, standing over him in a symbolic gesture of guarding the body until it can be recovered by those who would see to that his remains are properly taken care of.
