Ser Devyn sidled over to the seat indicated, but just stood by Daeryssa, so she could sit. She was better at speaking gently to others than he.

Randolph sees the knight and young lady speaking to a man. He approaches the ally next to the house and seats himself in a nonchalant manner, finding himself in the against the wall. Randolf has to get closer then he likes, preferring distance to help hide his actions rather then subterfuge, bit the taking of the two seems to distract from his approach, and the conversation could not be heard from beyond of horse lengths away.

As he sits near he stains to hear what is being said. Seeming to catch the majority of what is being said he waits to move until he can gage the reaction from the knight.

Martin says in contempt as he spears a potato with his fork. "
His pa's another matter, althoug if we're lucky he lies drowned in his own vomit somewhere in the forest, why else would he be so long away?"
He asks, his mouth still full of potato.

ah, so they must have been involved in the fight last night. Martin has always been a good man, I wonder what caused the fight to break out between him and the so called dim wit. wonders Randolph to himself as he sits in the small alley, careful to not get his trousers and more wet or dirty then necessary.

Daeryssa winced at Martin's language. My, he's rude. On the other hand, it could be useful information that Martin's father had been unusually long away, and he was doing something he didn't want people to know about. "
How is he dangerous? My father would like to keep any further trouble from breaking out."

he cautioned the man gently.

He takes the critigue with an apologetic gesture before he tells you: "
'Ave you seen him? He's huge! The only thing short about him is his temper. When he'll come back he'll bring that witch up on the hill all the work she could ever ask for! He'll be right mean when he gets back. I've always said it's his father's fault. Coren ne'er hit him when he was tiny, and because of his ogre mother he was bigger 'an his father before he was ten, or so they say. By then it was too late to beat some sense into 'im. Now he runs to the forest whenever he gets the chance, doin' the seven knows what."

A big man running about the forest who has not been seen for many days. No one knows what he is up to. a gleam enters Rudolph's eyes. perhaps he plays bandit in the woods. Maybe he has some silver hid out in then woods and one of those "
kings peace makers"
may have left it unguarded.

Oh dear, he sounds rather fearsome. Does he often interact with the forest witch?"

Martin seems to be done with his meagre meal, and as he rises he exuses himself: "
I've had a long day, I need a lie-down before my skull splits open."

Looking at Daeryssa he adds: "
If you'd wish to return another time, I'd happily have you over."
And with that he takes his platter and walks into his house, vincing as his right arm thuds into the doorframe.

Daeryssa replies. "
Thank you for being so hospitable to us."

She goes to her father's side once the two are alone again. "
A rather rough sort of man, Martin, but quite hospitable. I hope he calms down a bit before he fathers any children."

The forest seems to be important to Ammet's father... but I'm no closer to finding out why Ammet was attacked. I'm sorry, father, I should have pursued that more diligently.

Ser Devyn places a gloved hand on his daughter's shoulder.

"
You did well, my dear. We have something to go on."

He gave her a reassuring smile.

Daeryssa returns her father's smile and cheers up. "
I try my best. Courtesy goes a long way, I find"
she says sweetly. She's excited by the chance to investigate this mystery, but tries not to show it. A noble lady would not act that way.
