High Noon at Market Town Empty High Noon at Market Town

It all came down to the point of a lance, Theomore mused, all this scheming, and then one might as well flip a coin? A weighted coin perhaps, he should hold an edge over Ser Kevan in a joust after all. But no matter, he had never much liked a game of chance where he had to win to get anything at all, and so he had made it a game where both Tullison and Marsten had already won. He liked those odds better, this joust was just sport now. But not really, there was reputation on the line, prestige, all those little things that tended to be the things that often mattered more than the big ones when put together.

He salutes his opponent and enters a world where there only are two of everything, two horses, two lances, two men, two shields and two wills. Nothing else matters so nothing else is there.

Maneuver declared in private forum, assuming Kevan is opposing since I have different tactics depending on whether anointed is used or not.

Kevan's Lady and Lord had kept him aware and even consulted him on their plans with house Tullison. He knew full well, seated or unhorsed, his house, the Princess and Market town would come out ahead. It did little to settle the nerves one felt at riding against a renown rider such as Ser Theomore. Despite Theo's recent rumored fickleness, Kevan still respected the elder knight.

Dropping his visor he raises his lance in salute and moves forward to the all to familiar dance. Victory dominating his thoughts.

Theomore, knowing that he had to settle this during three rounds of jousting opts for the risky tactic that he used to be better known for. His opponent would at the very least need to be softened up before it came to sidearms.

high in saddle +2+Winning First: 10d6k5+4 lucky: 10d6k5+4 +2 BoA 28 So that's 3 DoS x 9 damage unless things are used to alter.
stay in saddle: 6d6k4-2 16 Should suffice.

DP to reduce opponents joust roll -1D. Making it 25 only 2 DoSx 9 = 18-11AR= 7damage.

BoA +2 to ride check 11+2= 13

[I withdraw my DP bringing this to a quick end]

Surprised by Ser Theomore's unexpected offensive riding style, Kevan cannot hold on and falls from his horse in the first pass.

Corrine visibly winces as Ser Kevan falls, hands tightening around one another.

Damn. There goes our hard work.

Damn. That was quick. I guess the Gods have spoken. Good thing we covered our odds. Ben places a sympathetic hand on Corrine's shoulder, pulling her close. A loss was still a loss for house Marsten's claim.

Theomore heard the cheers from those who had gathered for the spectacle alone, it was more reserved among the nobility, some rooting for his opponent, others merely wishing to appear neutral. As was his habit of late, he would check on his opponent and complement his riding before anything else. A victory, but not one he should be too visibly celebrating.

Thrice victory, actually, his machinations had denied the Queen and her friends the keys to Market Town, The Prince would be pleased. His lance had secured them for the Riverlands, ensuring taxes would flow to Riverrun, lady Alysanne would be pleased. To somehow accomplish both in the same stroke would be a rather difficult feat to repeat. And then he had won it for his lord nephew, the costs were not insignificant, but there was a simple truth to it all, in the end, power came from land and title to it. But for sure, coin could buy many things, though coin would come and go, lands usually stayed in the family.

It served nicely to pay one's own debts, however, and Theomore did like the Lannister saying.
