Oook, in that case, lets see:
Winnings: 1050 SS
Losses: 1250 SS
______________
Result: -200 SS
Argh, my poor purse ! But well, it should make fopr an interesting development.

Did Sam quit permanently, or did he return in the guise of another character?

No word back from him after a specific pm and he flunked his dangerous offseason event, dead and isn't back in another form. Would be warmly welcomed back.

Re: Game Discussion
I think it would be wiser that, when he flunked his offseason event, he ran into Dyana, and together they found a way to escape the danger following him, provided Dyana's player makes some rolls. That way you can NPC him until he returns, and Dyana can get more activity under her belt.
I will definitely be more frugal with how I spend my DP from now on. I could have gotten back up on my horse in my tilt against Jon Roxton at the Redwain wedding, but the way it resolved still fits my character.

Here I've got some genre appropriate bloodshed and a fate for Samurel I'd discussed with him previously (which made the decision a little easier for me). Need to keep my deathcount up where people miss rolls. I quite liked the structure of Samurel's event, and this kind of thing reminds people that there's a risk/reward balance to events! Going for biggers prizes IC often bears a larger risk.
Dyana following up has some potential too - a returning Samurel can always burn a DP to return as nine-fingered Sam. No body sighted yet, so I've left us a back door. :;
):
The above all said, haul me in players if I develop a bloodthirsty streak and people feel I'm being unfair.

How socially (in)acceptable is it NOT to ransom one's own equipment? Is there any stigma attached to that?

Re: Game Discussion
Like, horse and armor now belongs to the victor, so if you were asking not giving that (or ransom it)...well unheard of methinks.
Refusing to allow your opponent to ransom it back after defeating him is not considered very nice, but it happens.

I understand that -- I meant not buying your own lost equipment back from someone else though. Is it socially acceptable to not but it back and just let the other knight keep it (and possibly sell it somewhere else)? Or would that not be done in "
polite company"
?

Re: Game Discussion
It happens, yeah.
Usually as in, you don't have the money to buy it back, so people will ask questions if you do not.

Well, there are enough people who might be unable to afford the ransom on the one side or those who have a suit of armour or two to spare and hence don't strictly need to ransom their stuff. It happens, I guess, but normally, most people who are in a business that requires them to have some horse and armour (think hedge knights for example) will try to work something out, even if they lack the coin.

Re: Game Discussion
It's not impolite or bad manners to not ransom your equipment back, but rather the manners are expected of the party who won.
Declining someone's wishes to regain their equipment is rude, and harsh depending on the circumstances. If you're the winning party, and you try to gift back the equipment you won against someone's wishes to pay ransom for it, you also run the risk of offending them. I had to dodge that myself in the thread were I tried to mitigate the loss in Jon's disposition toward me.

Re: Game Discussion
Well, everything depends on the scenario. A knight can demand a much higher price for the armor, and then most would consider it unnecessarily grand to pay. Why buy your armor back when you can get a new set for half the prize?

Oh dear... Smugglers of illegal immigrants often gets quite a bad reputationLoreia wrote:[. "
We were in for more surprises at Thenn. She speaks of this as though it were a grave offense. To her, it seemed Yoren had no wish for secrecy that he had the people he "

Oh, just marry some popular dame from a noble house in the mainland and they'll get over it.
If you invited them, I wouldn't call it illegal unless your uncle or father disapproved. Generally anybody who invites Free Folk anywhere south of the Wall earns a stain on their reputation. The wildlings you allowed to come with you are probably trustworthy, but that won't change any negative opinions. If it's not because of bias, it's because of principle or policy.

Stained reputation? That's what I get for saving near extinction species?
I should marry a popular dame, it's just that people-smuggling, body-burning, bookish hedens usually struggle to come close to those This game of thrones is rigged!
